A decadent 3 nights in this lovely location, nestled within the beautiful Daintree Forrest. The accommodation was divine- a treetop villa, with a balcony looking out into the tree tops. The rain at night was mesmerizing. We were greeted with a personal introduction to the lodge and a glass of champagne and this personal touch continued with a welcome note and bottle of bubbles in grebe room. The food was a of high quality and the service great. We really wanted to unwind and relax and this was certainly the case but there was also two good walks, a billabong to swim or canoe in as well as being located close to cape tribulation. I would highly recommend this lodge.

The setting is beautiful & quiet. We had a tree house which was lovely and the bed was comfortable. We were there 3 days & didn't leave the lodge. There are walks in the National Park, a tennis court, little gym, canoes etc. the restaurant is lovely for dinner & there is a really interesting wine list. Free wifi in the common area, but ok 3G in the room. Friendly & attentive staff.

I debated whether to give this four or five stars. The setting, the room and the reception staff were truly worthy of five stars. Listening to the sounds of the rain forest at night and waking up to the birds in the trees was the perfect combination of "cabin" in the rain forest while still having first class amenities. The open dining room next to the trees and overlooking the Mossman river is one of the most beautiful and tranquil settings in which I have ever dined. So, why four stars? There seemed to be only new and relatively untrained staff in the dining room. Sometimes it was hard to find them and they occasionally forgot about requests. Most of them seemed like they were visitors from other countries working for a few months. Having some permanent staff would have helped. The food itself was overall good-very good and some of the dishes such as the beet jelly with goat cheese appetizer were really outstanding. Also note that the outdoor furniture and sports equipment were not anywhere near five star quality. Overall, though the ambiance and tranquility win and it is a five star experience.
While you are there I highly recommend the tour of Mossman Gorge led by a local guide. Really gave me some understanding of the challenges that the indigenous people had to face and the richness of their life in the forest. This created an interesting contrast with a visit to Port Douglas.

Silky Oaks Lodge is the most beautiful resort we have ever been to. The accommodation, lodge facilities, day spa, food and the friendliness of the staff is outstanding. The lodge is owned and run by an Australian family who have put their considerable talents into making your stay a most pleasurable event you'll never forget.

If you're looking for a relaxing break in a rainforest paradise setting while being pampered with great food and relaxing massages then Silky Oaks Mossman Gorge is a must. And, if you think it's expensive, it's not for what you get here. Remember, "you're a long time dead" so enjoy while you can.

Room Tip: Go for a River House.

Silky Oaks has to be one of the most beautiful spots on earth. Our River View room was totally gorgeous and private... the sound of the rapids was so peaceful. Spending hours lying in the hammock on the balcony was heavenly. The food in the open tree-top restaurant was out-of-this-world... and in such a gorgeous setting. Josh's cocktails were not to be missed! Overall the staff were incredible. We will definitely be returning! Note for those taking a hire car using Google Maps... If you type in 'Silky Oaks' it will take you to the entrance of Mossman Gorge which is a 10 min drive away! A quick phone call to the hotel sorted us out; staff were amazingly helpful. Overall.... A getaway to remember.

We stayed here in Lodge 27 which is the family lodge as it has two single beds together with the king size main bed. However one of our sons slept on the king sized bed on the balcony surrounded by nets and absolutely loved being woken by the natural habitat as this lodge overlooked a small section of cleared rainforest!

Great swimming and kayaking in the Mossman gorge, a good tennis court and entertainment room (that wasn't needed) and lovely surroundings.

Two very minor comments - the internet was very slow but to be fair to SO this was attributed to a faulty local mast and the evening meals - whilst very nice - could be a little more diverse that may suit teenagers appetites and tastes.

The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming and made our stay even better!
