“Fantastic Pet Friendly Weekend”
Reviewed 27 December 2013

Stayed during November with our 3yr old Labrador. Cleanest accom we have stayed in. Quiet, peaceful grounds. The dog loved the golf course, rabbits and kangaroos and of course swimming in the dam. Fantastic hosts, nothing was too much trouble. Definite dog lovers who made us all very welcome. We will be back!

We stayed for a long weekend in November. The studio was perfect - much bigger than I expected. Granite Gardens is an ideal getaway - quiet, relaxing grounds, fun, nine-hole Par 3 golf and an easy drive to Stanthorpe, Giraween National Park and many, many wineries. Sue and Mick were so welcoming, and gave us lots of ideas and places to visit. Sue also had delicious home made bread for us on arrival. Overall, a great trip and we can't wait to return.

Stayed over the June long weekend with our furry friend. One cottage is pet friendly and they are free to wander around the property. Our 12 year old terrier had the time of her life - paddling in the dam, running around the golf course and chasing the large "rat" - kangaroo. Thank goodness she didn't see the hares as she would still be running.

Cottage lovely and clean - breakfast provisions were very tasty and some treats for the dog also. Spa was relaxing and nice to have a fire at night.

We chose Granite Gardens after hunting around for somewhere to stay in the area which would accommodate our two dogs also. What a perfect choice it was for us as well as the fur kids! The cottages were perfect for couples and the dogs have never had so much fun running around the grounds and golf course chasing rabbits and splashing in the dams and pond.

We took the midweek escape of three days but were able to add on an extra night at the discounted rate also, and still we didn't want to leave! The cottage was lovely and the hamper on arrival was ample and full of yummy goodies. The dogs loved the treats too! New managers Sue and Mick were friendly and went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. Their prompt communication and information before and after our stay was great. They even took the trouble to find and post back the sunglasses I lost on the golf course during our stay!

Though the location is a little out of Stanthorpe it is the perfect base for visiting the various wineries and National Parks in the area. We were able to put the pooches in a local kennel just for the day so we could day trip to some ourselves. So much wine...so little time. Thanks for the great break, we'll be back next time we need a bit of 'real' winter!

Room Tip: Though the outlook may not be as good as the other cottages, Bella Rosa was the perfect choice for o...

My husband and I were looking to get away for a few days for a quiet break. A bit of searching and I found Granite Gardens offered a great midweek package. On arrival Sue and Mike (who only took over about 5 weeks ago) met us and from the word go we felt very welcome. The cabin was just gorgeous with a roomy corner spa, comfortable bed and wood burner. From the verandah there was a lovely view across the lake and gardens. The blossom trees were in flower, daffodils dotted through the gardens and in the coming months the roses will be in bloom. The breakfast basket and fridge were stocked with everything we needed. There was even some birdseed to put in the birdfeeder in the garden at the front of the cabin. It was so peaceful sitting on the verandah watch the beautiful birds and the baby hares chasing each other through the gardens. The golf course with balls, tees, bag and club supplied, gave us the opportunity for a bit a exercise in the beautiful fresh air. At the end of our break we were ready to face the world again!

We always like to have a short winter break in the colder climate offered by the Tenterfield/ Stanthorpe area and chose this time to stay at Granite Gardens, mainly because we did call in there on another short break whilst in the same area sometime ago and was very impressed by its location and the beautiful gardens. Being a garden lover I was looking forward to being surrounded by the same beautiful gardens as I had seen before and still promoted on the website. However the establishment had changed hands since and certainly the gardens are not what they used to be, although the roses had been pruned and will no doubt look beautiful in the near future.

The current managers had just taken over a couple of days prior to our arrival and they were very welcoming and personable and plan to do quite a bit of work around the gardens, so we enjoyed speaking with them about their plans as we own a similar (although smaller) establishment between Lismore and Ballina - Pines on the Plateau Boutique Lodges.

Our cottage, Bella Rosa, was very clean, comfortable and warm. We would have appreciated being warned about the colour of the water in the spa though! All in all a relaxing break in a lovely area.

My husband and I impulsively decided to escape the rat race for a long weekend getaway and chose Granite Gardens as our destiny. Brilliant choice! All three cottages were booked out so we were housed in the Studio, formerly a coffee shop on the property that has been converted into a spacious yet cosy nest! Large living room with a leather couch that two can stretch fully out on, large good quality flat screen tv,DVD player, basic but roomy kitchen with pod coffee machine. Outdoor BBQ area with large hood BBQ. Beautifully comfortable bed! Bathroom small but clean with a roomy shower. Arrived in the dark and cold to a warm welcome from hosts Jan and Chris who greeted us with a local bottle of red wine, home baked bread, a heated Studio and lots of touches such as a breakfast basket, muffins, chocolates etc. The property is lovely with numerous rose gardens, lakes, trees ( loved the flaming red swamp Cyprus trees - one of which we could see from our window as we work in the morning). A fun nine hole golf course with clubs, balls etc provided free to guests was a great way to get some exercise, fresh air and admire the prolific bird life, frolicking rabbits, kangaroos etc. This place would be a wonderful destination for those wanting to showcase Australia to overseas visitors with its plethora of flora and fauna! Next time ( and there will be a next time!) we would like to stay in one of the cottages but would be more than happy to be put up in the Studio again. Wonderful!

Room Tip: Just go there- you won't regret it!
