“The Perfect Getaway”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 June 2014

Just Stunning. Beautiful cottages that you cant but help relax in. Really could stayed for ever. Were well looked after by the owners Rick and Maxine. Were there for the re-opening of The Rocks Restaurant also and it was a delicious meal that was far to much to eat. Highly recommend dining in if you are there. Thanks Rick, Maxine and Jason, we will return

Room Tip: We were in Cabin 5 and loved it.

Thank you Jason for your kind review of your recent stay. Cottage 5 is my favourite also, and the Governor of Queensland has stayed in that cottage. JJ's @ The Rocks Restaurant is proving to be very popular and I am so happy you enjoyed your meals. Hope to see you again soon.

Stayed for the weekend, was our 5th stay here, cottages are getting a little tired, need updating of the decor, to match the luxurious price we paid, so a little more luxury would be nice. May come back when updated.

Deb happy to see you had a nice weekend for your 5th stay with us. We are continually updating the cottages but we also keep the Federation Era with Country Charm decor.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay in a one bedroom spa cottage. Very clean and comfortable. Everything from location to decor to our hosts says country charm and hospitality. Great central location to explore north and south of stanthorpe. Will be back. Highly recommended.

My partner and I stayed here for two nights in January. It was great to escape the heat and humidity of Brisbane!! The grounds and gardens are gorgeous, well maintained without feeling forced or fake. The owners were helpful and knowledgable of the area (great since this was our first time to stanthorpe). Our cottage was tucked away in the natural bush with great big granite rocks around the place. The cottage was clean, cosy and comfortable. Ours was fully self contained which was a great treat as we camp regularly. Would definitely consider coming back in winter.

We are so glad you enjoyed your stay with us. Stanthorpe is known as the "Coolest place in Queensland" which you have discovered, escaping the heat from the coast. Hope to see you again in winter to experience the log fire and spa bath.

We found these cottages on the internet. The photos really suck you in. They are set in a really tranquil location plenty of bird life just beautiful. It's not till you settle into your room that you notice the little things. The lounge was not luxurious but uncomfortable. The breakfast hampers left a lot to be desired. But it was not until the next morning when we went to cook our breakfast. Firstly the frying pan was greasy, then the plates in the buffet were dirty. These things you can over look. But on our second night we were going out for tea, I moved the ironing board out of the little laundry cupboard ( washer, dryer, dirty basket) and to my disgust on the floor half under the machine and a little under the ironing board was a dirty pair of G-STRINGS. Gross is an understatement to say the least. Obviously no-one bothers to clean very much, but just enough to fool you. We have stayed in places a lot cheaper than this and they were a hell of a lot cleaner.

Thank you for your review. I am concerned that you didn't enjoy your stay. Your breakfast basket is complimentary and if you needed more or had a dietary requirement, you only needed to mention it and I would have assisted you. We are at a loss as to how the item could have been left, as the machine is used to wash linen after each stay. I will be bringing this up at our next staff meeting.

From the moment we spoke to the owners we knew we would be in for something special. The cottage, one of 8,designed and sited for total privacy, was charming and elegantly furnished with wood burning fire and Reverse cycle air cond plus a 2 person spa. Kitchen was adequate, the TV not so! The onsite restaurant The Rocks provided a brilliant dinner with a great selection of local wines. "Bloody Good Red" as the name implied, was a memorable choice. These cottages are fabulous and would be great all year round especially the colder months but don't miss the tranquility at this time of year. Think we had the place to ourselves? Forget any negatives you have read here and have a relaxing break.

We stayed here after purchasing an online deal. Had to cancel our first booking as our son got sick and Terry was fantastic and understood our situation and changed our dates without any penalty. Upon arrival the owners Rick & Maxine were fantastic with local information and sights to visit. The breakfast hamper is huge and we didn't get through it all as we wanted to taste the local fare. We stayed in a one bedroom cottage. Nice open living space with 2 lounges, 6 seater dining, fireplace, kitchen and hutch. You'll never run out of firewood! A massive bathroom with spa, with the washing machine & dryer in a separate cupboard. We had a big bedroom with a queen bed, 2 bedside tables, wardrobe, blanket box, reading chair and room for their portacot for our bub. Well stocked washing powder for dishes and clothes. The only negative is no carport to protect the car and it was windy so the trees brought down a quite a few leaves and branches. But the cottage had an outdoor hose so was able to wash the car down in the mornings. We had dinner at the restaurant on site - The Rocks. Highly recommended! Fantastic meals - we had the atlantic salmon and beef steak, though they're not open Monday or Tuesdays. Reception has a lot of DVDs you can borrow for free, which we did, but never got a chance to watch them! McDonalds & Starmart located 200m walking distance for convenience but couldn't hear any noise from them. All in all a wonderful stay with every need well catered for and great location from all the sights.
