“Sparkling Clean But Small Rooms”
Reviewed 29 July 2014

We stayed at Kookaburra Lodge Motel for just one night while driving through the Atherton Tablelands. The owners were so friendly and accommodating, including bringing a hot breakfast to our room at a pre-chosen time. If the weather had been warmer, we certainly would have eaten it outside on the veranda in front of our room. (There was also a joint use gazebo in the garden that had seating and a BBQ in it.) Lovely plants were everywhere in pots and the well maintained gardens. Our room was very clean with comfortable beds, premium quality towels and our en-suite bathroom was very recently remodeled. The only negatives were the small sized room and lack of any safety hand grips or safety mat in the tiled shower stall. Also the A/C heat unit was a bit noisy but probably not much more so than we've found at other accommodations. The overall location, a little away from the main road, was quiet and relaxing.

Look the owner is a really nice guy, very helpful and obliging...But
The room is bereft of character, the little TV is difficult to see and the A/C Heating in other rooms is pretty noisy in my room. Sort of an intermittent dull throbbing. Annoying.

The bed was very comfortable, the sheets towels and room sparkling and plenty of tea bags, coffee and milk.
Oh! the breakfast was really palatable and nicely delivered.

Yep, I'd stay again, but only of the noise can be attended to.

Room Tip: See above - perhaps one at the end?

Clean, comfortable rooms, with fresh flowers, a nice veranda for eating, talking, or playing games, helpful and friendly owners--and two rooms for the price we might pay for one in other places. It was a great spot for us and our two teenage boys. The garden is beautiful, and the location is great, just up a grassy hill from downtown Yungaburra, convenient for a walk along the river to look for platypuses, and close to the grocery store. This was a great base for our exploration of the Atherton Tablelands.

This is the 2nd time we have enjoyed a pleasant stay at the Kookaburra Lodge at Yungaburra. Our room was clean, quite and well maintained with an enjoyable outlook to the gardens. The staff are very friendly and made us feel at home. The village of Yungaburra is within walking distance with restaurants and interesting shops. The Yungaburra markets are on the 4th Saturday in the month and are well worth attending.

Kookaburra Lodge is located at the top of a gentle rise, within walking distance to a number of restaurants, a small number of speciality shops, grocery store, a spa, gallery and the platypus viewing platform. The motel itself is set in small tropical gardens with all rooms at ground-level. There is a communal pergola near reception where wi-fi can be accessed.
Our room was small, dark and had outdated decor and furniture, but everything was very clean and tidy. We had two single beds (on wheels) that were very narrow, and comfort was average but not uncomfortable.
The motel was in a great central location for us as we only used it as a base, with days spent sight-seeing the area.
We did not dine-in as there are many restaurants and cafes close by.
Overall, it is a good clean budget motel!
Would I stay here again? Yes, only because of the location.

Spotless and well equipped rooms, with pleasant sitting out space, are set beside a pretty tropical garden. We were greeted warmly and shown an interesting breakfast menu, though we didn't sample it. Very good quality towels, nice local tea, lots of information - we really liked this motel, for reasons that boil down to feeling welcome. There are only twelve rooms, and you don't park right outside your room, so it feels greener, more rural, friendlier. It would be sensible to book ahead, as we had hoped to stay there again on our way back to Adelaide, but it was full. A lovely spot for a longer stay as a base for exploring the Atherton Tablelands, and a chance to spot a platypus, see the curtain fig, explore the variety of shops, experience the markets.

We spent a number of days in Yungaburra and surrounds and used Kookaburra lodge as our base. Nice room with verandah overlooking the garden, nice room and comfortable room. Breakfast was excellent. Location meant easy walk to shops. Great place to stay.
