Yungaburra is a good location for the Tablelands. The owner is very helpful and gives you lots of very good advice. The rooms are nice and the site is pretty. Value for money it is very good.

What a shame we only had one night a this lovely motel.
Yungaburra is a fabulous historic town. You are right out in the countryside, and there is a glorious sound of birds everywhere. The motel is charming, and we enjoyed breakfast on the veranda, overlooking the garden. This motel was great value, and I would love to go back one day.
If you are lucky (we were) you might be able to see a Duck Bill platapuss, down at the Creek. We were therein the late afternoon, and followed one down the creek.

Yungaburra is the best base from which to discover all the Tablelands in terms of location and charm. You will need a car (or a backpacker bus).
Yungaburra is utterly charming during the day. Whistlestop cafe is unique and friendly - sit in the garden. Beauty treatments in the 'town' are good enough to compete with London's.
At night, all is quiet. There is a small handful of restaurants to visit after platypus-spotting at dusk (we saw one!) and one traditional (read 'rough around the edges') pub. But this is small town Australia. You are not visiting for the nightlife.
Kookaburra Lodge is a perfect low-key base. The owner couple (the only staff we met) are friendly, welcoming and provide fantastic breakfasts (costed per item, but good value) served on your room's veranda. The verandas are not private but still a charming place to sit for breakfast or early evening glass of wine, esp on the garden side of the property. The bedrooms and bathrooms are adequate - clean and no frills - decor could do with updating but this doesn't matter.

The lodge is older, but very clean and comfortable. The owner Mike & his wife are so nice too! The rooms are small, but everything is there for you. Beds were comfortable, shower adaquate, bathroom useable. There is even a little porch for you to sit on in the morning for your breakfast if you odered one for in the morning. There was an extra charge for the breakfast but it was well worth it. Delivered as you ordered, hot and to your room. The grounds are lovely too!

My partner and I enjoyed our stay at Kookaburra Lodge. Kookaburra lodge is a small motel, which doesn't pretend to be something it isn't. It is quiet and in a lovely garden setting. The rooms are simple. They are very clean and very comprtable and made to feel homely. We stayed in the end room, which was particularly private. The owners are very helpful and friendly, the town of Yungaburra is an excellent place to base yourself for the southern tablelands. Overall we haven't anything bad to say about my stay.
