Firstly, this motel is in an excellent position with commanding views of the River and close to Berri's (somewhat limited) amenities. The staff are universally friendly and the rooms are nice - typical 3 star motel standard and priced accordingly with a premium for the location. The food is really good both in the upstairs restaurant (breakfast) and in the Bistro. They are reasonably priced and the breakfast a la carte, whilst limited, is creative and very good. Watch the chefs in the Bistro. They really know what they're doing - so well organised.
If I have 'buts' there are probably 3. Firstly, this is a well appointed motel with good facilities. It is not a resort - at least not like any I've been to and I was in the Travel and Tourism industry for 30 years. Secondly, it is not a place for a lie-in. Housekeeping came knocking on my door before 9.30 on a Sunday morning hopeful of cleaning the room and breakfast isn't served after 9.30 in the restaurant.Fortunately the coffee shop across the road serves a perfectly adequate breakfast all morning and from what I could see the motel is losing a lot of business to them for those that want to eat from 10AM onwards. Thirdly, the wi - fi drops out all over the property. It's free but it needs to be. I would have been happy to pay $10 a day for reliable, full strength signals.
Nowhere is perfect but this is reasonable value and we would go back again.
