Description: The cellar door and restaurant are a family owned business owned by Maria and Michael Vasarelli, along with their parents, Pat and Vicky Vasarelli. Set in the heart of McLaren Vale, the Vasarelli's have brought to the public a combination of award winning wines and Italian's love for cooking. With recipes passed down from generations, our cuisine ranges from antipasto platters and classic pasta dishes to all organic meats and the freshest seafood. At the very central of our cooking is the insistence that food be fresh & that our chefs are able to work to their own taste, opening the door to infinite variety.

Fantastic food fabulous service. And beautiful wine. Hadn't booked in a group of 9 for lunch and we couldn't fault it. We would be regulars if we lived in Adelaide for sure. Impeccable

Excellent food, the most friendly staff I have ever met & very at-tentative. Most certainly will not be the last time I go.

We had the most wonderful experience at Vasarelli’s – and not all of it was due to the excellent food and wine! Having just placed our orders, one of our party dropped his knife on the floor, and on bending to pick it up, bumped his full wine glass. This crashed to the table, and another of our party instinctively attempted to stop it falling, but in the process cut his hand, and it was bleeding quite a lot. Immediately afterwards, calm, cheerful, competent staff took care of the clean up and the first aid in a professional and no-nonsense manner. The wound was cleaned and dressed, all sign of the disaster disappeared and a fresh glass of red was on the table to replace the smashed one, all within 5 minutes. I almost felt like giving them all a round of applause! Apart from the swift dealing with the issue at hand, the kind-natured and patient staff also dispersed any embarrassment our friends may have felt for the disruption they caused to the dining room.

The food would almost find this performance a tough act to follow! But the meals had no trouble upstaging any preceding moments and we thoroughly enjoyed every bite! It is a fine chef who can turn a ‘vegetable only’ dish into something exciting – we had a combination of chargrilled and steamed vegetables that had been tossed through olive oil and garlic; simple, yet perfect. Other meals included a delightful caprese salad (enhanced with baby capers), saffron arancini balls in a fresh tomato sauce, and pan-fried veal medallions topped with prosciutto, provolone & sage and served with cannellini beans, wild spinach and potatoes. The desserts were the perfect encore – ginger sticky date pudding and a chocolate self-saucing pudding that made all of us roll our eyes back into our heads in bliss!

If you are in McLaren Vale, do yourself a favour and put yourselves into the hands of the gang at Vasarelli’s – you won’t regret it!

Went out for a simple meal with friends and were blown away at the quality of food and service we received. We started with the shared antipasto platter and then had crab pasta, rack of lamb, pork belly and chicken Kiev and we were all suitable impressed. Would definately return when visiting McLaren Vale.
