Description: The cellar door and restaurant are a family owned business owned by Maria and Michael Vasarelli, along with their parents, Pat and Vicky Vasarelli. Set in the heart of McLaren Vale, the Vasarelli's have brought to the public a combination of award winning wines and Italian's love for cooking. With recipes passed down from generations, our cuisine ranges from antipasto platters and classic pasta dishes to all organic meats and the freshest seafood. At the very central of our cooking is the insistence that food be fresh & that our chefs are able to work to their own taste, opening the door to infinite variety.

The gnocci wasn't particularly flavoursome but the veal was fantastic. Atmosphere is a little pretentious. Bathrooms are clean. Service was ok, but they forgot to bring us our vegetable side dish until over half our food was already eaten (after having to remind them - I think they may have forgotten to order it). No apology when it eventually arrived leaves a sour taste in the mouth. When you go to a good restaurant you expect a bit more for your buck.

Portions smallish but taste sensation, outside nice than in but depends on weather. The service was attentive, prices a little high for quantity but I guess you pay for the quality, not as big a wine list as expected from such a great wine area. I find this in most Adelaide restaurants we have great wine but cannot get it.

The love for their Italian food and wine is evident, an excellent menu on offer, friendly happy staff. The venue is a lovely old home in main street of McLaren Vale, with outdoor tables in warm weather, or several rooms inside. Great family effort.

Service friendly and efficient, menu is extensive and authentically Italian. Our anniversary dinner was one to remember.
The quality and size of the meal was sensational.
Will definitely return.

We read many of the reviews on this restaurant before deciding to go see for ourselves. Arriving early, we were greeted by friendly staff, eager to see us seated and with drinks in hand within minutes of our arrival. Orders were given for a shared entree and mains, with an expectation that our early arrival and sole occupancy of the dining area would ensure a short wait for our food.
Our shared entree was a sampling plate of tastes selected by the chef, and while the quality was very good, with exciting tastes, the quantity was barely enough for one. Shared, it didn't go very far, but so far, so good. We then waited almost an hour for our main courses to arrive, a main size seafood linguini and pan seared scallops. The linguini was strong on pasta, weak on seafood, but tasty. The scallops were overlooked and dry, but the accompanying salad was tasty.
We ordered deserts , the first of which arrived within 10 minutes. The affogato took over half an hour to come, arriving at the table just as we're getting up to leave, ice cream molten, only saved by Frangellico and good humour on my partners's part.
Overall, the experience was tainted by long waits between courses, forgotten courses and not inexpensive either. Would we go there again, no. There are better alternatives in the town, offering better value for money
