This hotel is truly amazing. From the time we walked in the door until we left we were very pleased. We come to Holmes County about 5-6 times a year and this was our first time staying here. We will never stay anywhere else if there is a room open at Berlin Grande!! The staff is very friendly. Breakfast was very good. The rooms are very beautiful and spacious with beautiful views.

We had a wonderful stay at the Berlin Grande from July 26-28. The brand new hotel is upscale and beautiful, and it offers a change from the usual Amish country style. We really like the Amish style too, but after many years of staying in the area, it's nice to try something new. The hotel is very modern, and the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms were spotless and had a comfortable decor. The beds were very comfortable with soft cotton linens and plenty of good quality pillows.
Breakfast was good with a selection of fruit, pastries, waffles, breads and prepackaged egg sandwiches.
There is always tea, coffee, water and fruit available in the lobby. There are comfortable tables for playing cards, too.
We'll definitely be back soon.

Just returned from a quick 3 day/2 night get away with the wife, kids, and my mother. We all were very impressed with the Berlin Grande. All members of the staff that I met seemed dedicated to ensuring our stay was enjoyable. The rooms were large and clean and the courtyard patio was a great place to relax with a few drinks after a long day shopping and sight seeing. The kids loved the pool and hot tub. Many choices are offered for breakfast to include waffles, mixed fruits, cereal, breakfast biscuits, etc...Our family will definitely visit again.

My friend and I went out to Berlin to go to the many quilt shops, etc. The room was very spacious with a balcony and small kitchenette area. It was close to main street so we could walk to everything. They have a really nice breakfast with a nice selection to choose from. You also get a free Wendell August ornament for staying! (You have to go to the Wendell August to get it though). The room was very clean and the bathroom was quite large. Being a new hotel, everything is very nice!

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the top floor (4th).

Good Afternoon and Thank you for your time and consideration in writing this review for us. We are pleased that you enjoyed the convience of being able to walk to the shops just down the street. The ornaments are a gift to you from Wendell August Forge for coming to visit Amish Country, they welcome you to check out their shop and forge just 3 or so miles from the Berlin Grande on US 62. We hope to see you again on your next visit to Ohio's Amish Country.

Very nice hotel! Treated with respect and cater to your needs well. Very clean. We stayed for two nights in the 2 queen suite, didn't get much sleep on both nights because of the people over top of us. They were loud. Other than that excellent hotel!

My wife and I spent 2 nights and 3 days in Berlin, Ohio and stayed at the Berlin Grande Hotel. The hotel was approximately 1 year old with beautiful lobby and rooms. We had a King-Size bed in a huge room. The room had a wet bar, microwave, small dorm size refrigerator, the bar also had two bar chairs not stools on the free standing bar. The room also had a 42" Plasma, Lounge chair and ottoman as well as a small balcony overlooking the Valley and hills. The balcony had two chairs and a small table would have been nice but the chairs sufficed and we enjoyed a couple of drinks while sitting on the balcony.
The bathroom was nice sized and had a two person walk-in shower with two seats. The only thing I noted was the water didn't always get as hot as I wished but that was probably due to timing of shower versus capacity of the hotel.
The AC worked well considering it was 85-90+ degrees out.
Each morning the Hotel had both the local paper and USA available.
Breakfast was continental with a twist - waffles, home-made coffee cake (Amish country you know) as well as cereal, fresh fruit cut-up, muffins, etc. It also had Egg Muffins with either Ham or eggs etc which were heated in Microwave. The one think I really liked was the orange juice. Many hotels I stayed in watered the OJ to the point that it tasted like a orange slice in a glass of water. Their OJ tasted good.

The pool area is indoor and rather small. The place only had one table and maybe 8-9 chairs. They could use a couple more small tables. The pool is rather small but fine for small kids and great after sitting in the small hot tub (5 person size) The pool could have used some defoaming agent as did the hot tub.

The hotel had a small area between the two wings of the hotel on the North Side with maybe 3-4 tables and chairs. Several couples were sitting out there at night and having a drink and some snacks/food.

Please Note: Holmes County is a Dry County so if you want something to drink you need to bring your own.

Location for us was ideal. We parked our car and walked uptown to see some of the shops. It was probably a 1/4 to 1/2 mile. Not far but good either to work off a meal or get a little bit of an appetite. If you wanted a buffet the Der Dutchman ( as of 7/2) is next door to the Hotel. There are other eating places uptown. Note: This is Amish Country so CASH & CHECKS work and Credit Cards may not.

There are other attractions in Dover, Sugar Creek, Walnut Creek - 1/2hr drive to Dover while Sugar Creek, Walnut Creek on Way. Kidron - 1/2 hr drive, Charm - 20 minute drive. The neat thing to do is just take a side road and enjoy the 35-45 mile/hr - seeing the buggies, stopping at the furniture places and maybe the quilt places.

Room Tip: If you are there in the summer, the East rooms will be cooler than West. Only problem the sun comes...

Good Afternoon, Thank you for writing this very informed review for our hotel. We have gotten new pool chairs, a table and a few smaller tables since your visit so there is plenty of seating as well as tables on which you can rest your drinks. It was very exciting when Dutchman Hospitality, the company that owns Der Dutchman and Dutch Valley bought the Farmstead Restaurant next door. The food is fabulous and that is where we get all of our breakfast baked goods. Great tip on the CASH and Checks, some local businesses take these but do not take credit or debit cards. Lastly, I noticed you mentioned all of the great things to do in the surrounding area, for information on Berlin and the surrounding area check out The Berlin Grande Hotel on Facebook and Twitter, we keep it updated with local happenings and information on local businesses. Have a wonderful Holiday Season....

We stayed over the 4th of July weekend. I read all the reviews here before I booked the trip. This was the first time I have been to Amish Country. My wife has been there before but it was only day trips. We wanted to go somwehere to relax and not feel rushed to do everything. It was a better trip than expected. Granted, like some other reviews, there were times I could hear the neighbors tv. That was ok because we came with 3 little kids who might have been loud sometimes. I just hope if there are complaints about my kids the hotel would have let me know. Anyways, the room with 2 queen beds was great, I have not slept so well in a hotel. I loved the little balcony. I just wish we did not have the view of the condos built next door. The breakfast was great both days although you better get there early because they will run out of items. The entire staff was super friendly and very helpful with requests and also with info about the area. The pool and hot tub were great at the end of the days. A little advise, nothing is open on Sundays! we had a hard time trying to find a place to eat. haha. Also discovered that At&t has no service in the whole area, couldnt use my cell the whole time. Also had troube using the free internet on my phone. I was able to use it for about 5 hours then it stopped working. But I did not persue on trying to get them up and running. I wanted to enjoy the peace and quiet.

Good Afternoon, Thank you for choosing us as your hotel for your first overnight trip to the area after reading all of the reviews. We are continuously working to improve the soundproofing of our hotel, and yes we would have let you know if another guest would have thought that your children were being a little too rambunctious. We do offer complimentary long distance from your room, to alleviate the fact that the cell phone service in the area is spotty. Thank you for writing a review for us as we always like feedback whether it’s good or bad, so we know what we can do to continuously improve.
