“Nice business hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 August 2014

Nice downtown location. Parking was free on street til 8 AM, or $8.00 in lot across street. Room was large and comfortable. Nice king size bed on 8th floor. Free breakfast did not include coffee. Lobby bar nice enough.

Room Tip: 8th floor king size.

Lobby of the hotel is deceiving...It's very nice. The rooms...Not so much. Outdated with small creaky double beds, older nicked up furniture, and bathrooms that can use some updating. Upon checkin we were put into a room on the 2nd floor that overlooked the roof and skylight. ..awful at best. Requested to be moved and it was like we were bothering the front desk help. Our new room on the 5th was not much better. Only 2 bath towels provided for four guests..again it was like we were putting out the front desk help to get more. Free breakfast buffet was lacking...only cold choices of cereal amd fruit. Hot oatmeal was ok. Extra charge for juice and coffee. Would probably not stay again.

Made reservations the afternoon of 7/20 for a stay the next weekend, and asked if they had a pool, as I needed to entertain an active 10 yr old boy, and a 12 yr old boy in a wheelchair. Was told that there are no accessible rooms for families, only individuals. When we arrived, the tattered paper taped to the front desk stated the pool was closed for maintenance from 7/20 to 7/30. Complained about the seeming dishonesty, and received less than 20% off the amount off my 2 night stay and the General Manager's name Robert Davis. Was connected with the voice mail of a Ms. Davola when I called back to speak to Mr. Davis, whose name is actually Davies. Called back and talked to "just Tony the Accounting Manager" who told me the GMs name is Patricia Tenorio. Still no clue who is in charge, if anyone. Friendly staff, but not equipped for good customer service - wallpaper peeling, great big hairballs blocking the bathroom drains, blackout curtains missing hooks so light streams in in the morning, battered noisy and musty smelling AC unit and mini-fridge, waited 30 minutes for extra towels as "housekeeping had left for the day" and the only person on staff was Dan who checked us in, "free breakfast" charges extra for sour coffee and watery juice. Entertaining my boys on the deserted streets of downtown Canton with three or four chain smoking vagrants clustered around the water features was not pleasant for a parent who wanted to give her kids a nice mini-vacation in a nice hotel. I felt duped and abused after my experience here.

Room Tip: Don't accept a room near the elevators - my parents were given the room originally assigned to t...

Although the pool and hub tub were "down" for maintenance & the floor we were staying on (8th) renovation was just being completed, if you have any reason to stay in downtown Canton, any at all, this hotel must be your destination. The staff was great, breakfast was excellent, rooms were spectacular, attached parking car with 2nd floor skywalk & within a very short walking distance of downtown festivals including the NFL football Hall-of-Fame pre-enshrinement festival you can do NO better than the McKinley Grand

Room Tip: Book early for great rates & other discounted services

I absolutely loved staying here. We got an amazing price and it came with a free buffet breakfast (eggs, hash browns, bacon, sausage, and then the usual offerings at a continental breakfast) where someone waits on you but you pay for drinks and tip. You feel this is upscale with their dinner plates that have their name on it.

We were unsure with the location but there is a police station across the street and a parking garage that connects to the hotel.

The hotel is going through renovations and it is so nice inside. We enjoyed reading about McKinley on the pictures. We wish we had more time because we wanted to go across the street to the First Lady museum which I think is located in the Mckinley's old home.

The hotel is located downtown and around the corner from the number 1 restaurant on trip advisor. We got in late so we just ordered pizza.

They were improving the pool so it wasn't open but the workout gym was nice with tv on 2 treadmills, water cooler, elliptical and weights.

The bed was so comfortable we all slept through the night. Bathrooms were a nice size and everything was nice and clean.

Not only are there great pictures to look at in the hotel but there is a place that sells old cars in the basement that you can check out for free.

One note you will have to pay $8 every time you want to exit the parking garage or get a parking pass through the hotel where you can come and go.

This is the best hotel for the price. We will definitely be back because there is more to see in canton associated with president McKinley that we didn't know about.

You will not be disappointed to stay here.

Let's start out with a sign on the front door saying guns are not welcome, even lawful carrying citizens. Of course you don't find out until you get there because nothing is said about it on their website. Next is mold in the bathroom and a sharp ceramic floor tile that my daughter cut her foot on. Manager was told of the cut and all that was said was a not so genuine "I'm sorry". As it got dark out we went to turn on a light, 2 lamps in the room and neither work. One was missing the light bulb and the other just wouldn't turn on. New flat screen tv just installed but the remote didn't work with it. No fridge in room which is pretty much standard nowadays and the yellow pages was 4 years out of date. No binder listing ammenities or hotel numbers to call if you need anything. No ice machine or snack machine on my floor, just a floor drain and water line. New carpeting in the hall but the smell was overwhelming. One accessible wall plug in room. Need I say more? Atleast my experience was better than a friend that was there at the same time. They reserved a room with 2 beds, well they got 1 king and that was it in the room except for a table. No dresser, no tv, notta. I understand renovations but if a room is not ready or missing something then don't rent the room out. I will say that maintenance was very speedy in coming up to the room when I needed a plunger. lol

this hotel has gotten some bad reviews in the past, but I just stayed here for 2 nights on business and was very pleasantly surprised.

Now, couple of notes, the hotel is undergoing renovations. This resulted in there being no ice machines on the 2nd floor (which happen to be where I was staying) and also a strong scent of fresh paint in the hallways which did NOT permeate into the room.

Our room was clean and fresh smelling, very roomy, very comfortable bed. It's obviously older hotel,, some of the furniture has scratches around the edges, like the work desk, but nothing that really make any difference in the stay.

We did not have an ice bucket in our room, but we called the front desk and housekeeping had it delivered within a few minutes.

The restaurant was serviceable but not outstanding, the breakfast that is included is really only fresh fruit, cereal and oatmeal.

The lounge/bar area was very nice with outstanding service.

Parking is included, you get a parking pass which allows you to park in the garage directly across the street, which is connected to the hotel by a walkway.

They also have old-school beds they have actual legs and not baseboards, which is always important for me since I travel in a wheelchair and have to be able to get my hydraulic lift underneath the bed.

Overall, I would definitely stay here again.
