Inn of Chagrin Falls
Reviewed 31 August 2009

What a great experience, I was pleasantly surprised with the quality and warmth of this Inn. I stayed 5 nights and I highly recommend it!

The Inn staff were smiling and helpful, and made me feel very welcome with lots of personalized attention. My room was sunny, comfortable and immaculate. And the location is unbeatable!

I grew up in the area and went back for a visit. I was happy to find an Inn located right in Chagrin Falls, a very short walk to restaurants and the waterfall, also a great starting point for visits to the parks and country drives…the wine bar right next door became my favorite place to meet up with old friends.

I can’t say enough about the comfort and warm spirit I felt at this place...my next task after I post this review is to book a trip back in October with my husband to see the leaves change… and yes…we’ll stay at the Inn of Chagrin.

******Over Priced.....$250.00 a night!******

What we got for 250 bucks ???? a night!

1.) Unfriendly...and... Unhelpful front desk!

2.) Air conditioner was OLD and did Not cool the room!

3.) Whirlpool tub had no real jets to creat bubbles (very old)

4.) VERY Noisy...Heard people until 1:00 AM both nights outside our room from the restaurant and the wine bar!

5.) A JOKE Breakfast....boxed cereal and bagels for 250.00 a night.

NO Bellman No Room service! ETC.....

We will Never stay there again!!!!!

I would Love to know why you are paying 250.00 for an old outdated room with virtually NO AMENITIES!!!!

My wife and I have just returned from a very pleasant stay at the Chagrin Inn where I took her for a special birthday getaway. While this was not our first time at the Inn, we always find it delightful to stay there.

Our room could not have been nicer in that it was cozy with a gas fireplace, a wonderful sitting area and a large king size bed.

One of the best features of the Inn, besides the friendly staff, is its location. It is adjoined on one side by a wonderfully comfortable wine bar and on the other side amazing food is served at the Gamekeepers Restaurant.

The hospitality of the staff could not have been better and we will certainly return again.

The Inn had been described as very charming, which was a great overstatement. From the outside, it looked nice, but that was about it. There was no doorman, and no one offered to help with luggage. The lady at the front desk, both that night and the next day as we departed, must have had something bad going on in her life, as she was not the least bit friendly, was in fact kind of sour. The room was nicely decorated -- attractive wallpaper, fabrics, and tile work -- except for a naive, tacky wallpaper border around the main room. A simple wood moulding would have been considerably more tasteful. The lighting above the bed was non-functioning, and the nightstand had no lamp, although one was provided when we asked for it and promised we'd only be there one night (to use the presumably borrowed lamp?) Speaking of the nightstand, the Inn does win the award for most unusual amenity -- not a Bible, but a package of condoms. Never seen that in any hotel before! The bathroom was nice, except for having zero counter space around or anywhere near the sink. The beds were like those in any cheap hotel -- foam pillows and no blanket cover. The Tavern restaurant had mediocre food and uncomfortable chairs. We certainly would not stay there again, and told our Cleveland contact, who frequently recommends the Inn to his business visitors, that he should find someplace else to send people.

This was our first trip to the Cleveland area to visit our daughter who recently moved to the area. We wanted a quiet but interesting place to use as our home base for our week's visit. The Village of Chagrin Falls and specifically The Inn at Chagrin Falls were recommended and we booked the Inn for the full week.

The Inn at Chagrin Falls is a small complex but very comfortable, friendly and well situated to take advantage of the very accessible village. Each room at the Inn is pleasingly unique in its decor keeping within the overall historical theme of the Inn. The decor and furniture, while appearing to be set in the 1930's-40's area, looked fresh and well cared for. The rooms are fairly spacious and quite pleasant to spend some time in as opposed to the typical hotel room where escape to the lounge is the first order of business. For this visit we had the "basic" room which was very good for our needs. Several rooms have fireplaces and other amenities as well which would be great in the winter. As we visited the Inn during a good weather period in June, we were outside much of the time and without the need for fireplaces or spas.

The Inn at Chagrin Falls is wonderful for people who are serious about a quiet, relaxing refuge from the typical hotel/motel scene. It is not a place with swimming pools, video arcades and such so families with children would probably find the kids complaining about not much to do if they are in to those activities.

The Inn at Chagrin Falls does cater to small business meetings as well. They have a small board room (seats about 8 -10 comfortably) and a reading room. As a retired business executive I felt this would be a good location to get the team away from the office to do some serious strategic planning as there seems to be little in the way of distractions. We noticed several business meetings there during our week's visit. Note to business meeting leaders – pull the door shade down unless you want your PowerPoint presentation to be visible from the small lobby!

The Inn is well located to the main street in the village - about a one block walk away. Within a two block radius are shops, community live theater, several good restaurants and a nice public library. The Inn has some limited parking in front and has ample parking in a shared rear lot. I recall parking in that shared lot is allowed for Inn patron’s from early evening until about 10 a.m. in the morning. The Inn will give you a permit to place on your car’s dash. Otherwise during the day there is metered parking across the street from the Inn.

Most of our breakfasts were at the Inn taking advantage of their included continental breakfast of toast, bagels, coffee cake, cereal, juice and coffee. Basic fare but good enough for us.

Our stay at the Inn of Chagrin Falls exceeded our expectations. Rooms were neat, clean, and welcoming, the staff was attentive and the Inn was well located to additional activities while situated in a quiet area. Would we stay there again? Yes.

Totally horrible. Just got off the plane from Ohio and could absolutly NOT wait to write this review to warn others NOT to use this hotel. Our stay was from July 2nd - July 4th. We had lived in Cleveland, Ohio for about 5 years and decided to return again to visit "our old haunts."The surronding area was beautiful... huge untouched fields yet still populated. The town of Chagrin Falls is small, safe and quiet. Went to the parade at Gates Mills. Excellent. But now to the subject: The Inn of Chagrin Falls.......The place desperatly needs redecorating. It is dark and looks like a funeral home (from the inside not the outside). The only staff we saw were the cleaning ladies and 2 front desk/concierge people. I brought my 3 kids there and the lady we saw 2 out of the 3 days we spent there did not like them the minute she saw them. The hotel definently caters to people traveling without little children. the lady who we saw only 1 out of the three days was very nice. this morning (aprox. 3am) a huge midwestern lighning/thunder storm hit. totally beautiful. when we woke up, the clocks read 6am and we were pleased to be up so early because they only serve breakfast until 9:30am on weekdays. little did we know, the power had gone out during the storm so the clocks were 2 hrs behind. We spent our time getting ready to get breakfast and convienently got there at "7:30am" (really 9:30). just as the not-so-nice front desk lady started clearing. (Need we remind you that it was the 4th of July...) so we left our last day at the inn of chagrin falls furious, and hungry that the lady did not even think to leave the food out for the family who did not come down for breakfast on time. there was a remote control fireplace in the rooms which was nice because when we got there, it was very cold in the room. we left it on... and soon...there was a very noticible stench of propane. Our children (and ourselves) could have been killed if we did not realize the consequnces. We will never stay at that inn again.
