We stayed at the Stoney Gables in 3/03. We were recommended by another Inn owner in the Cleveland area. Everything in the home was super clean and quiet. It smelled fresh. The recommendation to go to the Cleveland Art Museum was well advised. We also had the best breakfast ever!! tea, coffee, fresh OJ, sliced strawberries (my fav) and chocolate waffles.

We just got back from our stay at Stone Gables and had a great time! Richard, the owner, was great. He was extremely helpful and a great cook.
We got there around 4:00 and checked in. He was able to give us directions to Jacob's Field, which ended up being about 10 minutes away from B & B. And was able to help find a place to get pizza for after the Indians game. We got back from the game and headed back to our room. We stayed in the blue room. Which was on the second floor. It was a cute room. The bathroom was nice except for the shower, which had a shower head like slow flowing... but I cannot complain. We also had a adjustable bed , w hich was sort of tricky to figure out.
The next day, we had breakfast. He had a delicious assortment of fruit for a fruit salad and made us omeletes. (He was going to make us waffles, but I cannot eat them as there was not enough protein in them) (If you do ask him, he will make you a breakfast that you like) . Everything was good. He sat with us and the other couple and told us the background of the B & B and told us all about the renovations.
We really enjoyed our stay there. The only downside was there was stairs to go to the "check in", w hich were kind of scary because you could see the bottom and the next Am they were wet and were slippery. I would ask next time, if we could go through the front door.
Btw, the pics on the website don't do the place justice. Its more beautiful in person!

Good - We found the Gables cosy with all the amentities you could wish for at a B&B. An older style home, ornate, and you would imagine with some stories to tell. Located close to a few nice small resteraunts - I recommend the modern mexican nearby.

Our host Richard was welcoming and very helpful. But what is it with the U.S and waffles for breakfast. ?? Felt like I was being offerd dessert and had to pass. ( Not just at the Gables ) But we were provided with fruit.

Now the not so good - Dont walk alone at night. The area is definately dodgey with a few undesirables frequenting the streets. Get a taxi. Not much to do in the city. Perhaps Tower City the best to spend a morning at. The Rock and Roll Hall of fame a bit over-rated, but perhaps that just me.

Recommended but watch the locals.

We recently stayed for 4 nights at the Stone Gables. When we checked in there were fresh baked chocolate chip cookies in the dining room. Our first night, we stayed in the South Room (3rd floor), which has a separate living room. I have to admit I think that was my favorite room. The bedroom has windows that are high up, so you get light but it's very private. There is also a mini-fridge right out side the door that Richard supplies with water, so you don't have to go down. The second night, we stayed in the red room(2nd floor), which was just lovely (has Jacuzzi tub) but a lot smaller. However, there is a shared living room area for the red room, with the yellow and blue rooms. It is filled with tons of board games, a tv, a phone, books, etc. The whole place has details- from the antique furniture, art, satellite TV to the soft toilet paper in the bathrooms. There is wireless Internet, a baby grand piano in the main living room and even a Sony play station. You have to see the place in person to appreciate all of the details. It’s a Victorian building that has totally been renovated and every detail restored. The owner sat with us at breakfast one morning and explained how he restored the plaster ceiling moldings. And to top it all of he serves a wonderful gourmet breakfast- fresh fruit, coffee, tea, juice and the item of the day. We had French toast, decadent chocolate waffles(topped with fresh whipped cream), and eggs benedict during our stay. The neighborhood is still up and coming. There are many newly restored houses in the neighborhood but there are still some sketchy streets. That said, it is still one of my favorite neighborhoods in Cleveland. There are many amazing restaurants nearby, though we drove to all of them. With all that the Stone Gables offers, I think it’s perfect for whatever you may be in Cleveland for- vacation or business. It was also the cheapest option available when we were looking to stay, what a bargain.
