Drury Inn & Suites Columbus Convention Center
Ranked #4 of 146 Hotels in Columbus

My husband and I stayed at the Drury Inn for the Nov23/24 weekend for a high profile dance competition  the Ohio Star Ball. We chose this hotel because of its excellent location and proximity to the Columbus Convention Center. The hotel may not have its own restaurant but it s definitely close enough to other eating establishments  i.e. the food court in the Convention Centre which is attached to the hotel, Max & Erma s, and the fabulous Damon s Grill, which are both just across the street from the hotel. My husband loved the fact that they had free Internet access in every room. He initially had problems with the Internet but immediate & most helpful troubleshooting from Drury Inn s technical support eventually fixed the problem. Security was also great in the hotel. Until this trip to the Drury Inn, I ve never found a hotel bed that I ve actually found comfortable & had a good night s sleep (and I ve done quite a bit of traveling). Great beds! Another neat part of our stay was that a hot breakfast was also included. Here I was thinking it would be the standard cold breakfast of dry cereal, muffins, bagels but was I ever thankful for the warm breakfast of Belgian waffles (make your own  cool!), scrambled eggs, sausages, French toast, etc. With all these great things, I have to honestly admit that the only  dreary part was the ladybugs in our room. There weren t hundreds of them (maybe about 20 max.) but we got used to them  after all it s not like they were mosquitoes. All in all, we definitely plan on coming back.

I checked in on 10/24/03 to a nice room only to find that it was INFESTED with lady bugs. They were on the ceiling, the walls, on the floor, in the bathroom, IN THE BEDS, in the coffee maker and coming out of the vents. As they died they were falling off the ceiling. I moved a chair and there were literally 100s of them dead on the floor underneath. The windowsill was even worse. Ive NEVER seen this many lady bugs before dead or alive! I called the front desk and they blew me off the first time. The second time they moved me to another room. The second time was fine, but I couldnt sleep really well because of the uncomfortable bed (it had a big squishy crater in the middle of it and because I was so paranoid about all the bugs in the other room. Anyway, the breakfast buffet was nice and the place was clean. I dont know if Id stay there again even though my situation with the bugs was rectified.

We had a lovely 5-day visit in Columbus. We took a bus tour of Amish country--Mt. Hope and Berlin area--that was beautiful. We had lunch in an Amish home--quite an experience. The people--Amish & English--in the entire area were soooo friendly. We also went on a tour of the Longaberger Basket Company; it was very interesting, but be prepared: the baskets are expensive. My favorite tour was of the Franklin Park Conservatory. It was combined with a special Antique Flea Market, so we spent the whole day there enjoying the beauty of the plants and furniture. We especially enjoyed a limited display of Dale Chihuly's INCREDIBLE blown glass. From Oct.-March, he will have a huge display of his work throughout the Conservatory. It is worth going back there for this! Columbus is ok; try it--and stay at the charming Drury Hotel next to the Convention Center. You will be sooo comfortable!

We attended a function at the convention center recently and had not made reservations. When we arrived at the hotel the front desk people were wonderful. They gave us a room for a wonderful price. When we got to the room, we were very surprised. The decor was terrific. The only thing I would possibly change was the continental breakfast. It was average compared to some places we have stayed. We would definitely stay there again

We just stayed at the Drury this past weekend for a dance competition at the Convention Center. We have stayed at the Hyatt more times than we can count, and the Drury far exceeds the Hyatt. Every staff member we encountered was nothing but friendly and helpful, and all could understand what we needed. One dowside is no bellhops to help with luggage, but carts were provided and it saved on tipping. Parking in their lot for $10 per night stayed at the hotel, is a bargain in downtown Columbus. Security is great, but don't forget to take your room key along when you leave your room. You need a key to get to the guest room floors, into the parking lot, back into the elevator from the parking lot, and from the convention center back into the hotel from the connection hallway. It took a little getting used to, but did make you feel more secure there. The hot breakfast was great, and handy to have, saved moeny not having to feed our family in the food court, and there was a good variety of foods, and the made to order belgian waffles were a real hit. There was a wait for elevators at peak times, but they moved along fast. The pool was great, part indoor, part outdoor. The rooms were the highlight. We had a queen suite, very affordable, spacious with a door separating living area from bedroom, to block the noise for those early to bed sleepers in your group. Decor was pretty and comfortable, and the free pop and popcorn was a nice touch. Rooms also included a small refrig and microwave for quick warmups. As you can probably tell, we were very happy with our stay at the Drury and will definitely go back with our next downtown stay.
