We were really looking forward to having a wonderful experience at this place, but from the beginning, it gave us a little skeptical feeling. Nice outside patio, kind of cheapy tables and chairs, however, it was packed and all seemed enjoying their food. Our server had a typical Short North attitude, not attentive or helpful.

We started with Grilled Cesar Salad, which was not easy to eat, uncut romaine lettuce – tasted okay but nothing special. The entrée we choose was a combination of scallops and fresh strawberries, small portion, it was more suitable as an appetizer than being an entrée. Nice try but to no avail.

Although the name has “Italia”, the menu was not giving any impression of an Italian Restaurant. No spaghetti, no baked dishes, no real tomato sauce based items, only couple of Pomodoro sauce dishes, we tried one, nothing stood out.

In general, Columbus restaurants charge much more than a similar place in Manhattan, and the food quality is usually a half and getting a good server seems like a gamble. Even though we like to support local businesses, this one was not the one we would repeat visiting.

This little place in the Victorian Village section of Columbus is phenomenal! The menu offers enough choices for both appetizers and entrees and does them all well. It is not a huge place and gives the feel of a New York neighborhood type establishment. The patio is awesome during the spring through the fall. Get there early to get a seat as they do not take patio reservations. Columbus is a truly underated restaurant city and this is a place that receives high marks.

We visit often, this restaurant. Each time the food is outstanding which is why we call this restaurant our favor. I will say the one draw back would be the staff. It is not that they aren't attentive, it is their attitude. It is as though they are doing us a favor by allowing if to dine in their establishment. They have bordered on being rude several times. As I stated, we have been patronizing BASI for years and this has always been the case. My husband and I dined their last evening on their patio. Again, an outstanding meal! The bartender was so, so nice. My husband and I questioned ourselves as to whether or not he might be new as he was so courteous and helpful. It was as close as we have ever come to feeling that they were pleased to have us as customers. We have not complained as we feel it would fall on deaf ears. Clearly, this has not prevented us from returning to enjoy excellent cuisine.

Good food, cute location, really nice background patio area! Staff was so nice to us - even though we were a large, loud group. Delicious food, great wine list!

Second time dining here. First time on the patio in September 2012. This time a little colder but ate by the bar under a canopy. Very good service and food. There were four of us. Three from Columbus and myself from Anitigua. The meal was very enjoyable very similar to Tuscan food with a rustic twist and a very good wine list. We all had shared starters and main courses. Worth a return visit. Located where you would not expect to find a restaurant in a very quaint area.
