“Friendly little B&B”
Reviewed 20 August 2014

We stayed at the Guest House to celebrate our 5 year anniversary. We chose a weekend when they were holding their annual "tea" - a fundraiser for the German Village - because it fit with our schedule. When we arrived, the house was packed with guests for the event, but we found our room impeccable and ready for our arrival. Despite everything that went on during the day, the house was spotless after our return from dinner that evening and we were able to enjoy the amenities all to ourselves - something we were concerned about when we saw all the commotion at the start of our trip. We selected the B&B over a hotel so we could enjoy the garden at night. The outdoor fireplace was great, and the kitchen was stocked w/ s'more ingredients for us to enjoy. We had a very nice stay, and highly recommend it. I would suggest staying on the 2nd floor. We were there and still heard noise from the kitchen in the morning, so the 1st floor bedroom might be a little noisier. Also, if you are sensitive to light in the room - bring a sleeping mask. We had a lot of light from the patio lights, since the bedroom faced the backyard.

Room Tip: Rooms on the 2nd floor would be quieter.

Green Features: They seemed very green. All I wanted was a paper napkin on the way out to take a muffin for the road, but alas...I couldn't find one :)

We were looking for somewhere to stay for a night as a stop off in Columbus on our drive to Chicago. What a find! German village itself is gorgeous and this guest house was beautiful. Easy to find and super easy to access with a code for the front door emailed to you a few days in advance it was like we had our own private, very stylish house. I'm not a fan of big soulless chain hotels so this boutique beautifully decorated guest house was perfect. We stated in room 1. Very stylish, great bathroom, silky sheets. The use of the kitchen was fab too. Breakfast was sublime. Fresh fruit salad, homemade yoghurt, boiled eggs and toast and freshly made peach muffins. The garden is so lovely and we felt so relaxed here. We were so sad to have only been able to stay 1 night.

Stayed at the Whittier House, on the first floor and it is a great little place. It wasn't cheap, but it was super nice, probably one of the nicest B&Bs I've ever stayed at. Cool design. Great neighborhood. Bed was super comformtable. And dog friendly!

Lovely and very stylish inn perfectly located in Germantown in Columbus. Luxurious appointments with nice linens, towels, etc. Loved the big custom built shower! The room was immaculately clean, and gave the impression of being absolutely brand new. The garden is a wonderful place to relax and read; I enjoyed it late one warm summer evening for reading (after I figured out how to turn on the lights!). Breakfast is an assortment of cold items, including the home-made yogurt, fresh fruit, breads, rolls, cake, juice, etc. The fridge is stocked with assorted drinks and snacks, and there is a coffee machine and other snacks available.

If you're stuck for something to do in the evening, there is a selection of DVDs you can play in your room. And, there's even popcorn to microwave in the kitchen!

Parking is on the street outside the inn, which is very convenient. While this may cause some travelers concern, there is no problem. As in many older neighborhoods, the properties don't accommodate parking so many residents themselves park on the street. We never had to park more than a few steps away from the house, and it seemed very safe. The neighborhood streets are mostly paved with bricks, which encourages people to drive quite slowly, so that also makes it feel safer.

The only oddity I found is that the hosts seem to run the inn by 'remote control.' We received an email with the code for the door, and in the morning as we were serving ourselves breakfast (which is nice, because it really is on one's own schedule), we got a further email thanking us for our visit. We did see our hosts outside (they live next door, i think), but that was more happenstance than planning. This wasn't a problem in any way, it just seemed rather unusual for the hosts to have no intentional and direct welcoming / hospitality function with their clients. I guess I'm old fashioned, and would rather meet people face-to-face than via a tweet! That said, I wouldn't hold this against them in any way, but just thinking that some interaction might add a human touch in what otherwise could be seen as a beautiful but somewhat impersonal small inn.

Beautiful site in german village with a scenic garden, delicious breakfast refreshments and rooms with a peaceful, quaint character. Was great for our wedding night because you could enter and exit without having to have a concierge stay up for you. Would recommend to others.

Room Tip: Enjoyed the room 3 with the king bed. Visit the garden in the morning for a moment of tranquility.

From home made yogurt to super soft linens, this bed and breakfast was simply wonderful. Location is perfect for enjoying all of German village. If you're going to enjoy a night w your loved one it's great. The TV is very small, so don't go if u plan on watching TV all night. Lol

My fiancé ended our engagement night with a final surprise of staying here! We live about .5miles away from the guest house and I wish we could stay there every night! The bed was so comfortable and the breakfast was perfect (homemade yogurt? I mean common!) The patio was a prefect place to enjoy our breakfast. We will be back!
