“Very quaint 'town'..nice!”
Reviewed 8 March 2014

Took at nice 1 hr motorcycle ride up here to check it out. Very cool place to stroll along and check out for a few hours. Spent time in the leather store and talking to the owner. Ate at the rest/pub there as well. Very picturesque town; wish we had more time to go into the stores and/or tour.

“Sweet Treats - 2 very different experiences.”
Reviewed 21 December 2013

First visit:
Friendly staff. Good products. Overpriced, but it is a novelty candy type store. So you should expect this going in. I bought some caramel coated "puff corn" made by Mr. & Mrs. Bitter. They were pushing this real hard. And it was DELICIOUS, expensive, but delicious.

Second visit:
My husband and I were transferred again for work, so we were picking up last minute items to bring home for the holidays before we leave again. We went to Sweet Treats specifically for the caramel puff corn, and to my surprise it looked nothing like the bags I had purchased previously. They were smaller bags, still priced way too high, and the puff corn looked NOTHING like the puff corn purchased before. It was very faintly colored & the puff corn itself looked like smaller pieces. Just really different. So I asked the clerk what happened to this product, and she told me they packaged it smaller, and priced it accordingly, (*rolls eyes*) Annnnnnd here's the doozey, she said the puff corn would turn a different color if I let it sit for a few days. It would get darker and larger. HA! We passed on this purchase. Sweet Treats may want to retrain their employees.

“Christmas Candle Lighting”
Reviewed 21 December 2013 via mobile

This was our first visit to the village and it was a delight. We popped into the leather store for reasonably priced gifts and had lunch at Uncorked. They had delicious pizza and $5 glasses of wine. After walking the road, and visiting a few more shops, we attended the candle lighting. There weren't many people because of the rain, but the service was cute. As the story was told, the tree lit up. Then visitors lit each other's candles while singing Silent Night. Only lasted about 20 minuets. A nice Christmas service.

“History comes alive”
Reviewed 12 December 2013

A pleasant afternoon that could have been a tourist trap, but wasn't. Although there are many stores with much to buy the place feels realistic. One gains a greater appreciation of the history of the area. Well worthwhile.

“A Must Stop for a Lazy Day.”
Reviewed 4 December 2013

We visited Roscoe Village on our return from Cambridge, Ohio. It was pretty cold and dreary out and I believe it was on a Sunday.
I would highly recommend a stop at Roscoe Village while you're in the area. We were just going to stop for a few minutes and ended up spending hours there. Make sure you talk to the guys at the leather shop and don't miss the toy museum. The man working there is excited to show you his working toys and the shop brought back some great childhood memories for both my wife and me. (It's also free!) There are many old houses and shops; enough to keep you busy for 3-4 hours; more if you decide to eat at one of the pubs.
They also have a museum of the Erie Canal which is a must see. Make sure you ask questions as she is extremely knowledgeable. Don't forget to ask her for the story behind the naming of "White Woman" Road. Roscoe village was also a major stop for the underground railroad.
Plenty of good Pub-type bars with nice looking menus.
All in all, it was a great place to spend 4-5 hours taking lazy strolls down the historic streets and chatting with some of the shop keepers - especially at the leather shop. We had our 17-year-old daughter with us and she enjoyed it as well.
