“We love this Hotel”
Reviewed 31 August 2012

We stay in Columbus every few months for a few days, and have stayed in quite a few different properties ( I like a great deal, so when I find one we try a new place). That being said, we keep coming back to the Hyatt Place. The service is always great, and we love the rooms, especially the layout with the Living Room and the Tv in between. The bathrooms are a tad awkward, but this is only a minor inconvenience. It is clean, well maintained, and usually very quiet even when they are almost at capacity. We will be back this weekend, again.

Since my husband and I are usually travelling with our son we have started staying at Hyatt Places because of the extra room. If the king bed room is cheaper than the 2 doubles my son can sleep on the couch pullout. So far they all have a similar setup and are clean with a nice staff. We stayed at this location on our way out to visit family in Iowa and on our way back home. The free breakfast is great when travelling so we can eat and get on the road early. This location is especially nice because it's right off the highway and there are a lot of places to eat close by (along with a mall). The first night we were very tired and stressed from the drive and it was so nice to talk a short walk to a nice restaurant for dinner.

On our first visit to the Columbus zoo, our family stayed here since it was 9 miles away. The room was very roomy and comfortable, the breakfast plentiful and refilled regularly, the staff was very pleasant. So why is the housekeeping and cooling of this hotel so lousy? Our beds got changed every THREE days unless you put a card on it requesting otherwise, the floor was not vaccummed daily and looked dirty, four of us had to use this TINY LITTLE bar of soap for the FOUR days we were there as it was never replaced. I have not seen this even at cheap budget hotels we have had to stay at when travelling across the country. There was hair on the floor of the bathroom, a couple of ants walking in the shower. Obviously the cleaning staff is not doing their job or the hotel does not care how dirty the floors are. The most annoying thing of all though was the extremely loud and hard blowing air conditioning that disrupted our sleep. The people on the bed close to the unit were cold even though we turned it down to the point where the rest of us were sweating on the other bed. The outdoor pool was cold even though the temperature outside was in the 90s. It is a shame that the hotel is pleasant but it is overshadowed by bad housekeeping and a shortage of bar hand soap and lousy airconditioning noise!!!!!

Really liked this place. The room was quite large for a reasonable price, the front desk people were very kind and helpful. It was very clean and the bed was comfortable. The free breakfast included a lot of options. We were just passing through Ohio, and it was a convenient spot and easy to find for our itinerary.

We often travel long distances when on vacation. This hotel was relaxing and an almost-perfect stopover.
Positives: 1. Having hot, freshly prepared food and beverages available 24/7. (Very nice to completely unwind after a long day of driving and not have to go out again for a meal or find something when we got in after most of the restaurants were closed.) 2. Having china available for breakfast instead of those awful styrofoam plates most hotels use. 3. Great breakfast choices - the open-faced egg/mushroom/cheese sandwiches were wonderful as were the other breakfast sandwiches - LOTS to choose from! 4. An electronics board next to the desk that would take almost any type of plug (why don't more hotels have these??). 5. Beautiful lounge with lots of seating. 6. Very nice rooms. 7. Friendly staff. 8. Close to freeway and other places to eat.
Negative: SLOW computer. My son needed good computer speed for work and we try to choose hotels that should have it. Also, the connection cut out periodically, so he often had to start over and waste a lot of time.
Fantastic place to stay if you don't have to do lots of computer work while on the road and rely on a good internet connection.
By the way, there were several families staying at the hotel that night. I briefly heard some noise in the hall when they came home from the fair, but the noise didn't last long at all.

We had Hyatt points from a long stay at the Hyatt Regency Tamaya in New Mexico so we decided to stay at the Hyatt Place when driving through Columbus. We arrived late due to stormy driving conditions. The front desk attendant was very helpful and friendly. We had a king room with pull our couch. The room was very small. Tiny bathroom. Bathroom had mold around tub area and hair on floor and in tub. Beds had hair on them as well. Worst was finding a pair of someone's dirty underwear on top of the air conditioner. It was so late and kids were so tired we didn't complain and just went to bed (after using Lysol wipes on sink before using). The noise from the highway was almost as loud as the noise from the air conditioner. Couldn't leave this hotel fast enough!!! Will NOT be staying at a Hyatt place again!!!

I booked and stayed at this hotel because there were three in the area at different price levels and wanted to see what the 'lowest priced' facility provided.
I was pleasantly surprised. The value here is just as good as others I have stayed at, although I can't speak for the other two in the area.
The employees were very friendly and helpful, providing helpful responses and suggestions for our questions about the hotel and area attractions.
My usual is to stay on the high floors to get away from any potential noise. The high floor was quiet.
This is a good value for a short stay.

Room Tip: Rooms on the 5th and 6th floors are quiet.
