Quality Inn Gallipolis

Some rooms at Quality Inn are very worn-out. You will get the best free breakfast in town, but there is not much of competition for that title. Hampton Inn down the road is newer, cleaner but also more expensive hotel. Ask for the room facing the back side (open pool side) of the hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for the room facing the back side (open pool side) of the hotel.

We were on the road and decided to spend the night instead of driving 3 hours after dark to get home. It was a holiday weekend, and we were in no hurry, so we looked around and found this Quality Inn. As we were checking in, I overheard another customer say, "Your breakfast is what brings us back!" I thought, well that's great news. In a day when a good FREE breakfast consists mostly of waffles, cold cereal, and packaged muffins, we were glad to hear about a good old fashioned HOT breakfast. The room was exactly what we expected. The night clerk was exceptionally friendly and congenial. The bed was great, but the pillows were not our favorite. The next morning we headed down to breakfast was was pleasantly surprised. This breakfast was better than we've had in recent memory, (and we travel frequently!) They had the best scrambled eggs we've had in years. The breakfast casserole, (quiche?) was terrific. The juice selection was better than most. The bacon was cooked perfectly, although the sausage could have been warmer. All in all, this was the BEST FREE breakfast we've had in a long time on the road. If we ever get back down on the Ohio River, you can bet we'll stay at this Quality Inn again!

We arrived after 10 pm and didn't have a reservation, and they were quick to accommodate us on the 2nd floor. We couldn't find an elevator anywhere and nobody to ask, but we managed. The air conditioning in our room wasn't working well so it was pretty hot and hard to sleep. The room was very clean and the free breakfast had alot to offer like fresh fruit, cereals, toasts, juices, bacon, sausage, eggs, pancakes, biscuits and gravy and muffins.

Pretty decent hotel for the price. Excellent old school hotel lounge.Very nice staff throughout my stay. Could use new ac units, but really that's my only complaint. Best part really was the breakfast that came with your stay. Probably the best I've had. Would def recommend on that alone!

We've stayed at this hotel when it was still a Holiday Inn and have seen it becoming more and more shabby over the years. It still needs more of a spruce-up, but we had a clean room and comfortable bed. The location, right off the ByWay (35), is convenient enough to downtown Gallipolis. The breakfast buffet (included in the price of the room) was great with a friendly and attentive server. The desk staff was very friendly and responsive to questions and needs. Our family used a party room for a gathering (bringing in our own caterer). The party room was spacious and had everything we needed. It is separated from the guest rooms so we didn't feel the need to close the doors to protect other guests from our noise. The AC in our room did a good job without being a noise problem while sleeping (as in some hotels). Some other members of our family reported issues with the AC in their rooms on the second floor, however.

I'll start off with the negatives. The hallways seemed a little beat, and paint peeling off the doors was a bit of a turn off. The room was a little musty when we first arrived, but we cranked the AC and it dehumidified rapidly. That's it on the negatives.

The positives: The staff was super friendly from check-in (with cookies and fruit waiting on the counter) to breakfast. They have surprisingly comfortable beds with soft, clean linens. Unlike other hotels at this price, there was no disgusting polyester bedspread, rather a duvet clad in crisp white sheets with three pillows plumped up on each bed. I slept like a drugged baby. The internet was free and fast. The lounge onsite, while no place I would ever go out of my way to patronize, had Yuengling on draft for $3 a pint, served in a chilled glass. Nice touch. And the breakfast...oh man. Not only was there a good variety of choices, the biscuits were SUPERB. I swear they make them with bacon fat because they tasted like flaky bacon heaven bombs. Not for the vegetarian or those with heart concerns.

For an inexpensive place to stay off the highway, the Quality Inn totally exceeded my expectations. I just wish I had jumped in the pool.

We stayed two nights, May 31 and June 1; very convenient to Pt. Pleasant, WV. Very friendly and helpful person on desk, Melynda (?), very informative. Good service @ breakfast. Good food, menus change. Very comfortable bed, very restful, Clean and comfortable room. Tax isn't as exorbitant as some places. Nice exercise room and pool, neither of which I used.

Room Tip: Parking is all on one side; our room overlooked a large grassy area, very quiet. Inside corridors...
