Had to stay at Guwahati for an extended one day business trip.
After a lot of search got rooms at Rajmahal.
Overall Impression : Not Good
Will I stay there again : Ummm, Not really

Good:
1. Got room after tiring day
2. though limited in choice but the food was tasty

Bad:
1. AC of room was not effictive and centerally controlled
2. dim lights
3. Damp bathroom
4. Old fashioned rooms

Bottomline:
can try it on emergency basis, for a single evening stay.

Had lot of expectation from this 4-star property but all were shattered the moment we checked in at the Hotel. Old fashioned rooms, badly lit passages, Old Cathode Ray Tube TV sets, pathetic Cable TV reception, Furniture and furnishings are a total mismatch.
Spread of breakfast far from any satisfaction level. No LIVE kitchen. No fruits, no buns, no cookies. Cold and stale food. It was a big let down.
Cable TV lacked most of the popular pay channels. Hotel is running only Free channels (mostly from Doordarshan).
AC is very noisy - could not sleep whole night.

The guest who stayed represents a TV Channel company and has personal scores to settle so has opted for venting his frustration like this. Neither a correct review nor ethical.

The hotel is widely advertised as 4 star but it's more like What stars ? To start with, the rooms were barely acceptable. While the rooms were relatively clean, the facilities were bare basics. Bathroom was decently clean but uncomfortable and not particularly inviting. I struggled to convince myself to take a bath. The Tv in the room is a small one largely infested with local channels.

The food is passable, However you better not expect to have food at late night. A Lot of times room service won't pick up the phone and this happens a lot at night. I tried to order around 1 am and after calling a few times someone finally answered. The only option they gave me was dal and rice which arrived after a good hour and to be honest Criminals in Jail get better food.

The Room service people struggle to understand what you are saying if you talk english so it's better to speak hindi. If you are a foreigner it's better to just go down to the restaurant. Oh and by the way this is a vegetarian hotel. I would say that if possible then eat out. The serving staff however is courteous.

All in all i couldn't wait to checkout and thankfully i was in the city only for a day. Will i go here again ? I pray not !

I with my family stayed in this Hotel 2-3 times. As it is near to railway station(even from some rooms you can see the station) so easy to locate. The reception area is so unique you can found anywhere, where you can have souvenir shop, bakery and internet access.Food is excellent but a little expensive.Room service and conduct of staff is also nice. The location of the hotel is an added advantage for shoppers. But be prepare to check out having enough time as they take a long time for check out process.

I have been staying at this hotel on my visit to Guwahati for the past 12 years. Its just like a home away from home. The food, room sevice, ambience, all are nice. The rooms have been refurnished recently making it more comfortable and cozy. Most of the rooms are provided with LCD TV with USB port. There is a mini-bar stacked with chocolate,biscuits,chips,cold-drinks,etc.The front-office manager, Mr.Singh is always there to help with a smile, in case of any need. The buffet breakfast offers a choice ogf south/ north indian dishes with fresh fruit / juice.
I recommend this hotel for those who want value for money, especially, the corporate clients.

Room Tip: East facing room offers a view of the market with sunshine in the room during morning.

I did not stay at this hotel but visited to attend a party in December 2012. Although the hotel looks nice, if the banquet facilities are any indication of the rest of the hotel, I would not want to stay here.

As soon as I entered, I saw a small counter with a "For Sale" sign on my right and thought I would have a look to see if they have some interesting local curios. Funnily, the counter was displaying and selling toothbrushes, combs and sundries like that with a price list also in the display case. Funny thing to keep right up at the entrance!

The party I attended was at two levels - 9th and 10th floor - banquet hall and on the terrace. The banquet hall is quite nice, big and decently air-conditioned. But for a hall of this size and with say typically 50-100 people in attendance - it has one small pathetic little excuse for a toilet; and even that is so poorly maintained. I don't know what they were thinking when they designed that place.

The terrace area has a small pool and semi-outdoor/indoor party area. The pool did not appear to be in regular use to me. Again in this entire floor - there were two bathrooms only (men and women each) which are part of the showering area for the pool - really pathetic condition and only for one person each. There aren't even any urinals in the men's.

Before the dinner started on the terrace, I noticed two of the staff members spitting their paan juice into the waste bins kept for keeping the used plates. While at dinner, I noticed one of the servers grab some sweets from a tray, stuff it in his pocket and quickly wander away...

There were other such irritants, but I guess you get the idea.

All in all, I was quite disappointed and would not recommend this place.
