We visited Dalhousie in the month of August and the first place we visited was Dainkund Peak. The place is simply awesome. There is a small 2 km trek to the peak where the first 500 m are steep steps while the rest is a gradual climb. The beauty of the nature and the climate just made the trek really memorable. It was drizzling when we visited and there was complete fog cover with dew all around. There is a small temple at the top and some small shops to enjoy tea or coffee.
Must visit place in Dalhousie.

Dainkund peak is one of the best spots in Dalhousie. While being on the peak, you can see the nature's beauty at its best. The different mountain ranges with deodhar trees, flower valleys etc...are all visible from the peak. The way to reach the spot is also full of fantastic scenic beauties. This is a must visit place. The best time to visit is summer and rainy season with cloudy atmosphere. Though when its raining, it is not recommended to go there.

CAUTION: Do not use horse to reach at the peak. The horses are not officially allowed there and is a risky place to do horse riding. Some local villagers stand there with their untrained horses and play with human lives just for the sake of some money.

Dainkund is a must visit place. Its around 15Km from the Dalhousie. It is 5 Km on off- road while going to Khajjar. Taxies can go upto some one point only after that there is Barrier/Restricted area.

Total distance to temple is 1500meters (by walk). It is in two parts. First 600 meter, there is a view point and after that 900meter there is a temple.
First 600 meter is very steep and having steps.

While you reach at View point, you will forget the tiredness of steep walk. a beautiful view with silence. Feel the Air.

People were also saying that you can see view of Kailash Mansarovar, but i could not locate. So not sure about this.
