So we reached Shillong at a last moment call. It was May and the peak travel time. Being recommended for a couple of hotels, we started our search for a room in Police Bazaar. Must admit, the place has a plethora of hotels. But all the ones near the main junction were full. So we chanced upon this small looking hotel from the outside.
But as we reached the reception area we were pleasantly surprised by the ambience. Rooms were available at around 1000 rs per double room (though their site mentions lesser, perhaps that's the off peak season prices or minus the taxes).
The rooms were small but cozy. Very comfortable and smart. I say smart because they seemed to be newly built. So you had all the amneties and many plug points for all ur charger needs. The receptionist told us that there are rooms with Wi Fi available.
Coming to the food, we actually ended up enjoying their food more than what most restaurants were offering. Reasonably priced and menu was full of sufficient variety. Of course for niche food like north indian sweets, the delhi restaurant right across the street is a better bet.
But as with everything, the hotel wasn't perfect. It was still under construction so during the day time we had to hear the construction noises going on in the upper floors. Though we weren't in the hotel in the daytime much so it hardly mattered for us. The rooms might be a bit small for a family of 3. And the hotel didn't have their generators connected to the geysers, so during the power cuts, we couldn't get hot water, though the tv and everything else was working.
In the end it was a decent hotel with a very good service (no reminders, quick service and good local staff).
