“Peaceful retreat beside umium lake”
Reviewed 7 February 2013

Umium lake is one of the beautiful and vast lake . The hotel is just besides the lake .. we have balcony facing the lake ..nice lavish wooden big clean rooms with a amazing view of the lake ... Basically you will get a view of lake from everywhere , from dinning , lawns .. In the morning the lake looks mysterious with the cover of fog.. Excelent place for relaxation , no shop , crowd or etc etc just sit and relax . Food is average .. Service is also average..

Stayed here for 2 days in May, 2012. The best thing about this place is its view of the lake. Whether you are at the dining hall or from your room's balcony, you will always get a good view. Excellent place if you like to just relax, read a book or just enjoy the nature. There is a small garden where kids can run around and play. Has a good parking area.
The food was reasonable and tasty, though the service is a bit slow.

The only disappointment was that the pool was not clean and hence not available.

The Umiam lake is nearby and has speed boat facility, though a bit expensive for a 5 minute ride.

You need to have your own transport as Shillong city is good 13-15 km from the hotel.

Room Tip: Go for room on first floor to have good view

It’s a life time experience. A neat Bungalow pattern resort beside the Lake Umium/Bara Pani. The unforgettable picturesque, serene nature will beacon you. The wooden and lavish dining room overlooking the lake will always remain in your memory. The rooms are large with fire place and TV's and geysers. The service is nice also. In fact the Resort itself is grand. The best is the view of the lake . You will never feel like moving out of the nice balcony's in front of your room. You may indulge in water sports or may be hitch-hiking the friendly villages. Though it a bit costly for budget travelers but the money will worth it.

Umiam Lake is a beautiful lake, surrounded by trees and clouds floating in and out. The rooms are huge and quite comfortable, though some of it was a bit dirty. I went in the monsoon, so everything was a little damp. The restaurant is nice, and has a great view over the lake from the glass dining hall.
I preferred staying here than in Shillong itself, as I felt much more in touch with nature.
The park by the water is a nice place to hang out, read a book, and maybe play a bit of football with some locals. The motorized boat trips are a bit expensive.
