We went and stayed there for two nights on 22 & 23 Aug'2014. The location of the (deluxe) rooms are good and every deluxe room has balcony with the lake view. But you can't access the lake from the resort, rather you have to enter into the lake from outside from the water sports complex and giving the extra entry charges there. The room conditions are not good and in one of our rooms, water was leaking at two points from the ceiling inside the room when it was raining outside. All rooms are in similar condition where water can start leaking at any moment.Informed this to reception but was told that these things may happen and can't be avoided. Not expected this response. Apart from this we are also charged Extra Person fees though we didn't require any extra bed. The didn't told me this earlier when asked. Swimming pool is there but not having suffucient infrastructure for an adult to get into the pool. Not got the service expected as per the room rates. Food quality is average. The main and the single positive point what I can say about this resort is the location.

Room Tip: Take the deluxe rooms. This rooms are better than the other categories.

One of the dream destination in Meghalya. During Monsoon you have unique experience to feel this place. The hotel is next only to Barapani lake where orchid garden is also present. Boating facility is available. The rooms are having good view of lake with some good birds sighting who loves birding. Good service & ambiance and very well maintained.

We stayed for 2 days, fortunate to got the lake view rooms. Enjoyed the nature and tranquility. But this resort is poorly managed since its run by Meghalaya Govt.

Rooms are specious, resort area is very vast, the restaurant is humongous and very impressive. But again, staffs are unprofessional and kind of untrained.

If you don't get rooms at Ri kynjai then only try this resort. Its the second best to stay beside Umiam lake.

Checked into the only suite with the family on 8th July since I had official work in the vicinity. The receptionist was brisk and efficient and handled our check in most satisfactorily. Nice suite, large and spacious with two sun decks (one for each room) with a splendid view of the lake. Well designed layout of the resort with a nice swimming pool near the lake and surrounded by pine trees. Staff were cheerful, despite being Government employees. However, it is respect of this that I have some grouses. The maintenance of the fixtures is not satisfactory and a general air of seediness is developing. The catering staff seem ill equipped to handle the guests and the casual visitors to the restaurant. The food quality may be good but the waiting time is excessive. Room service is very slow, maybe due to staff shortage and the distance between the various locations of the resort. The lights along the outside pathways are largely non-functional and it is a dangerous lapse since this area has plenty of snakes.

Room Tip: Be sure to take rooms with the lake view.

Me and my family visited shillong on 12th July. The room was airy but the bedsheets were of low quality and the cushions were dirty and the blankets were also of low quality .The service was not good at all the waiters would come so late. But still the food was tasty and we could see the view of the Borapani lake.

This Lake resort situated very near to Barapani lake, shillong. We had took our lunch over there on 27th May 2014 around 3pm. The restaurant was fantastic , nice view but the food qualtiy was not upto the mark. We had ordered chilly chicken without bone but they served with bone. Be careful if you are with family, I have very bad experience in that restaurant. Beside our table 4 Khasi people were sitting over there and there were completly drunk. They just making fun with us , throwing water in our table. When we protest for that then they were just furious, using so bad language and we didnt any support from that restaurant. Manager told us he can't do anything in this matter, becasue that khasi people are dangeous . They dont have manners at all, they behave so badly with my mother , she was 70 years old, behave badly with my wife, seems they dont have culture at all. So my advice dont go there with your family.

We stayed for 2 nights. Its a memerizing spot for a quite and calm holiday. Nothing is more relaxing than waking up by loud chirping of birds and beautiful Umium lake's quite atmosphere. Staff is very courteous and always available. Reception is very helpful. Food is good and tasty, Its a total value for money. We stayed in rooms 212 and 215. Both rooms were spacious with small terrace overlooking the lake. bathrooms were clean and hygienic. A perfect place for unwindind amidst the nature.
