“A very peachy experience at Pear Tree :)”
Reviewed 24 April 2014

My first impression when I saw the hotel online- Cosy and clean!! My first impression when I saw it in person- even cozier and cleaner!! Now that's called presenting exactly what a property is, in real life! The place is conveniently located within walking distance of Ward's Lake and Police Bazaar. A very quiet neighborhood adds to the whole ambience. Taxis are available either from the hotel or you need to walk a short distance to the main road- say not more than 10 mins walk. In case your cabbie does not know the way, you can ask them to come till All India Radio and then request the hotel to guide them- easy!

The hotel is run by a guy named Dheeraj Bohra- polite, friendly and nothing is too much of a problem with him. You request it, he'll ensure he gets it or at least some related info to the stuff. The food is homely and very fresh. Room service is awesome and very discreet. The rooms are huge and airy, done up tastefully in dark wood with huge windows. Lots of sun! My friends and I felt very safe staying here and not once did they give us any opportunity to complain.

I would definitely recommend this place to everyone. And for once, the photos are exactly how the place looks! :)

Room Tip: Take a suite with attached balcony. Nothing like having your breakfast in the open!!

After a considerably disappointing experience with our stay in Kaziranga, apprehension was its peak as we approached Shillong. All our doubts were expelled when the proprietor, Mr. Bora, personally picked us up in his car from the bus stand and took us to Pear Tree, a B&B, personally run and managed by him. Located in Lower Lachumiere, in a quaint, idyllic setting, our romance with Shillong only multiplied thence. It was Christmas time and we couldn't have asked for more. We hadn't experienced such genuine hospitality to such an extent until then. The rooms are most aesthetically and tastefully decorated with the very best quality products. With just over 5 rooms in their property, they have been able to manage a personal relationship with every guest, right from guiding us to the nearby good restaurants, to arranging cabs to take us around Meghalaya, to actually sharing a drink with us on a chilly wintry evening. The cook and help, Mr. Das was most warm and endearing, always ready with a smile, making it a home away from home for us - ensuring he served us a tasty and healthy breakfast every morning with bread, eggs, cereal and milk. And to top it all, Mr. Bora’s very adorable dog, Lee, who greeted us with much enthusiasm every time we returned from a tour of the city, made it very difficult for us to leave the place 4 days later. Absolutely no complaints crossed our minds the entire time and we can’t wait to go back to Shillong, only to stay at the Pear Tree. Highly recommended for anyone who's looking for a non conventional, personalized, luxurious-yet-affordable stay in Shillong.

Kudos to Mr. Bora, the owner of this B&B accommodation, for conceptualizing and designing this place. Everything is very tastefully done. Its really a home away from home. I would recommend it those who are keen on cleanliness, hygiene and peaceful environment.

Room Tip: If going with family book a suite otherwise luxury rooms are also very good.

We stayed in Shillong for 4 days - and we were very satisfied by our stay at The pear Tree. The rooms is new, modern and perfectly clean!
The best about this place was the great service and the hospitality we felt. Bora who is the owner helped us a lot, so we came around the city and visited all the bests spots. We were amazed about the hospitality and the outstanding level of service. We will absolutely recommend this place !

This place is one of the best places I stayed during my trip to India in 2014. Bora is readily accessible by phone/email and the booking and the directions to this place was a piece of cake. The room was spotless, nice interior design, free WiFi and everything you would expect in a 5 star hotel. Bora also helped me book the car at a very reasonable price for my trip to Cheerapunji and this is an asset. Bora's friend Ariff who the owner /driver of the car is just an amazing guy and took me to places off the map. Das the person who makes the morning breakfast was superb, it was as though I am eating at home. The food was superb, and homely. The other thing to mention is the loving dog Lee, he never trouble you but if you want some dogy love there is no one better.
I could of think of a better place to stay in Shillong. Mr Bora please don't change anything there.

Serene yet right in the heart of the bustling hill city. There’s something warm about ‘Pear tree’..perhaps it’s the wonderful service of the staff..or the personal touch the owner Mr.Bora provides at all spectrum of your stay there. The brightness and cleanliness of the place is captivating ! Each room allows a idyllic view of the city and its sheer beauty.. The cozy nooks by the window or even the balcony.. are just perfect to snuggle up with a book and cup of coffee by taking in whiff of the beautiful site. What’s makes it seriously cool is the fact that this place is quite economically priced despite its state of the art quality. Sprinkle this with the private tour of Mr.Bora’s awesome paintings…and some ‘Shillong freshness’.. It sure is a rejuvenating home experience..
