“Good Hotel”
Reviewed 3 July 2012

Location of the Hotel is Excellent. It's near to Police Bazaar, best public market of Shillong. Quality of food is also good. Rooms size are little small. Room service, cleanliness is also very good. Bakery items are also available for room service as it is hotels own bakery shop located just outside hotel. For tourist cars are also available at reasonable price.

Room Tip: Executive or Deluxe rooms

Went there to stay because pf previous experience which was top class.
But was shocked to see how one of the top hotels of Shillong from a long time had managed to deteriorate into such a sorry state.
For 3 grand you get a bathroom which looked unused for months, a completely brown (with dirt) bed sheet, plaster on walls falling apart and food (chilly pork) which was stinking not to mention a below standard TV and completely veg breakfast...
Seriously, I couldn't wait to get out of this place

{As dirty n mismanaged as you can imagine. Even guest houses around much cleaner n better.}

Well the hotel of choice in Police Bazar Eee Cee was booked so we had to move out and i had to take a room at the Pegasus which had a nice view and wholesome breakfast, but everything else unimaginably bad.

From outside the building looks nice, lobby also ok, has lift too unlike most Shillong hotels. The common area towards room also nice, but once you enter the room you would feel like being zapped into the past, 1970's Rajesh Khanna long hair, bell button, flowery prints days. Just imagine the hotel rooms that we used to see in those days movies.

First the room had no bell so one has to bang, my room door had a more than CM gap on top. The furnishings, were old and dirty. The bed hard as a log. Had to laugh when saw the design on the bedside wall. Left side bed light was broken. Fan regulator was broken. There was no plug to charge mobile or laptop or any other gizmo that you might have. Only one plug point in the room dedicated to the old CRT tv but with a surprisingly working remote.

The bed cover looked way too dirty so we decided to remove it, but only to find hair on the inside layer. The white sheets and all were dirty as well and so was the floor with hair and other materials here and there.

Bathroom had no windows which was ok but given the low lighting it looked and felt terrible. The fittings were nice but were old and dirty with fungus. When you use the toilet and flush, the potty water comes out on the bathroom floor. Hot water was not available after opening the tap for many many minutes and throwing four buckets even. There were many stickers of undergarments around on bathroom as well as room walls. There was just one piece of soap and no tissue paper in the toilet. But found a plug point to charge the mobile here on top of the basin. When i had to use the towel it was a real disaster, both towels were dirty n old and were the biggest put off. Its like someone did wash but with less than required amount or no detergent at all n not properly.

Despite all the odds we had to stay as good cleaner hotels aroud were full. However i felt really bad later as while trying to rest for sometime i realized that something in the bed was biting me. Yep khatmal bed bugs whatever you call it was very much present to give you company.

So you realize why they ask for advance payment, least someone decides to leave after first few minutes inside the room.

So dear travellers, unless you find no rooms elsewhere only and only than take a room in Pegasus and please never for more than one night.

After returning from dinner outside we heared lots of shouting outside. The next room guest were calling up reception and saying, Itne paise lete he aur room ka aisa halat blah nlah and so on for long. After sometime room service boy came with a good night refill and gave them but it was not filled so again shouting and service boy running back down again. Only then did we realize that they had not given any anti mosquito agent in our room. But we were too tired and had enough of the Dirtiest Worst Hotels of the World winner property and just wanted to leave as early as possible next morning.

The funniest part however is that they do not provide any complimentry or even jug water in the room and charge Rs 3,200 for such a lousy place. The reception guy said only if a guest order water we give, lol.

Later in the morning had breakfast in their second floor roomy bar. I will add the snaps so you shall see whats on the menu. The guys their make omlett and alu paratha fresh apart from ready items.

So atleast when you leave you go with some good thoughts thanks to the nice meal put together by the staff.

This place has all things good, location and infrastructure wise, but they badly need to renovate, repair, modernise the property recruit the required amount of qualified staff and top management unless it wants to be the yearly winner of Worst hotels of World winner every year.

In case you bring your own vehicle please don't use basemant hotel parking which is like a garbage dump and safety tank all put together. Use the paid parking in police bazar corner for Rs 10 per hour.

One thing the future guest must know is this that this hotel is owned by a non Khasi, non Jaintia, non Garo and non local, but an old north Indian immigrat. Local people are very particular about cleaniness and guest comfort and wellbeing, so don't merge your bad experience at Pegasus hotel with anything of the Meghalayas beautiful and friendly people.

All right so go and stay if ther's no rooms anywhere but prepare your mind for, bad dirty room, dirtiest towels and toilet beforehand and sleep with bed bugs.

This hotel is good in all respect, like service, rooms etc, but frankly bathroom is not good. I have visited this hotel in the month of June along with family and stayed comfortably. Hotel Staff is cooperative & helpful. Food is very good.

Room Tip: Choose rooms towards Police Bazaar Facing.

I stayed for one day on an official trip to shillong. The best part of the hotel is its location. the service is pathetic from the word go. Rooms are badly kept....even they have only one mug , you use that to wash your face or bath or going to the loo. The room service dosent even bother to keep water in the room. On asking the same, i am told you didnt ask, thats why there is no water. Perhaps the only hotel in the world where drinking water is not provided in a room. The room service is arrogant and ask more questions than answers. there is a serious shortage of Plug points in the room .
However the breakfast is good.
Overall wouldnt recommend if you have options.

We stayed in Hotel Pegasus Crown in May. Staff were very good and the buffet breakfast was enormous. The rooms were clean but the toilets were dark and not properly laid out.Our room had good view but size was not commensurate with the price(no 24 hrs hot water- available only in the morning,no additional plug points). Location is superb with just minutes from Ward's Lake and Police Bazaar. Restaurant was good but undersatffed. On a whole a good experience.
