I stayed at this hotel with my wife from 21st to 25th May 2014. I had booked this hotel through its online portal. I had booked the AC Deluxe room @ Rs.2,500/= per night plus taxes. The good point about this hotel is that its located right on the beach and majority of the rooms are sea facing. There maybe some rooms which have a side view of the sea but generally all the rooms are sea facing. The beach in front of the hotel is clean and not much crowded. Jagannath Temple is not too far from the Hotel and it takes Rs.100/= if one reserves an entire Auto. Swargadwar (the shopping area) is around 20 minutes walk from the Hotel.
Room: I was given Room No.204 on the 2nd Floor. The room was sea facing with an air conditioner, tea coffee maker and a mini refrigerator. Theres a balcony attached to the room. The size of the room was reasonable but the furniture and interior requires immediate attention. The bathroom is tiny!! I guess tiny would also be an understatement!! However everything works in the bathroom including the geyser.
Food: I felt its a bit over priced compared to its quality and quantity. Breakfast spread is very average with standard bengali spread of luchi, porota etc. Eggs are only boiled...other preparation of eggs not available in the breakfast spread. Taste is normal nothing exceptional. However one Chinese preparation turned out to be excellent.
Service: Polite approach to the guests. Rooms cleaned everyday. However, one drawback I noticed that the cups and glasses provided in the rooms arent removed and cleaned voluntarily. You have to be proactive enough to ask the service boys to change the cups and glasses. Towels and bed sheets are changed everyday.
I was a bit scared about power cuts as I had read in earlier reviews that there were long hours of powercuts. But during my stay i experienced power cuts but maximum for a period of 30 minutes. During power cuts the AC and the fridge doesnt work but the ceiling fan and television works just fine.
Overall the hotel has a great location but the room decor needs a complete overhaul to make it worth Rs.2500/=. Lastly I would say I had booked this hotel as I had a wonderful stay in Sonar Bangla Darjeeling but the Darjeeling branch of the Hotel is much much ahead of the Puri Branch.
