Very Calm and serene. The paintings are breath taking and its a multi floor Monastery. View from the top is simply awesome. Must place to visit in Kalimpong.

“Very Good Monestary”

Silent and serene place perched on a hill top and the paintings and the monastery is pretty old and mind catching.

“beautiful and enchanting”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 December 2013

This is one of the most beautiful monasteries in the area---- truly stunning murals with more images of Tara than i've seen in other gompas. Also-- walk upstairs to see levels 2 and 3--- with a monk who can open the doors for you. Really worth this extra effort---- lovely murals, statues, and artifacts. This is a highlight of the trip.

“Come for the beautiful interior & the marvelous exterior views.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 November 2013

I paid 2 visits here , both on foot. It's a lovely walk & full of interest with the obvious option being to go straight up Rinkingpong Road but if you have time investigate some alternative routes which can take in the Animal Rescue centre or Crookety House.
The Monastery is at the top of Durpin Hill with great views to Kanchenjunga.
Very ornate inside & it's worth coming up for 3:30 pm or thereabouts to witness a ceremony which lasts for about 30 minutes.
Unfortunately , this may be slightly spoiled by unthinking tourists tramping about with their cameras .
