I booked a room here for 4 nights via the Internet & got a half price deal on a standard room.
The Hotel is situated in an offshoot of Rinkingpong Road & is very quiet by day & night.
My room was in the modern block at the rear of the original building & I found it to be large & well equipped-2 single beds with plenty of covers & more in the cupboard if required ( it can be quite chilly at night ), T.V. & fan, settee & desk.
The bathroom could do with updating but the water was always hot & I was more than happy with the overall standard of cleanliness & the room cleaning service provided.
Breakfast was included in my deal, tea/coffee, eggs, toast, jam & banana.
There is a decent menu for lunch & dinner-Indian, Chinese & Western dishes available. I found the meals well cooked & well presented. Also afternoon tea available. Bear in mind that meals are provided at set times ( displayed in your room & elsewhere. )
The real charm of this hotel lies in the original building with it's cosy lounge & adjoining bar-the lounge redolent of Raj Era decor & ( to my mind ) the bar reminiscent of set piece from an early episode of ' The Saint '. A covered verandah runs along the front of the building.
I found the staff very courteous & helpful & cheerful.
If you require biscuits, bottled water & snacks there are a couple of basic shops a couple of hundred yards walk down the hill.
It is a 15 minute walk downhill to the main street in Kalimpong-you can add 5 minutes to the return journey as it is a reasonably stiff pull back up
I would'nt hesitate to stay here again.
. By the way,
WI-FI is available near the main desk & stretches to the lounge, verandah & bar.
