We had two weeks in Crete in June 2012 and to be honest can't find much fault with the hotel. Everywhere was clean and the staff helpful and friendly. The room was cleaned and the bedding changed daily and the maids would come back later in the day if the morning was not convenient. The only minor point we had with the room was the air conditioning, it didn't seem to get the room cool even though it was set at 16 degrees. However talking to friends staying at a different hotel in Crete, they had the same problem.

There was a good variety of food. Breakfast was the same everyday, but there is a lot to chose from, cereals, fruit, bread, meat and cheese, cooked breakfast and pancakes. The evening meal was different each day with lots of local dishes as well as the usual pizza, burgers and chips. Lunch was also well stocked, however we only went in twice in two weeks as we were still full from breakfast.

The water park was fun for adults and kids alike. There is also three other pools. We tended to use the water park or the relax pool which is adults only. Again each were clean and had a bar nearby.

We knew about the hill that the hotel is sited on prior to leaving from reading earlier review, we didn't think this would be a problem, however we didn't factor in the heat! However, we did walk up it on numerous occasions. The hotel is in a lovely quiet location. It takes about 20 mins to walk into town and this can be done along the road or beach. Alternatively there is a free shuttle bus 6 times a day. Heading in the opposite direction is Stalis. We walked there a few times as the beaches are much nicer than Hersonissos. The public bus also runs to near the town.

As has been said before there was very little in the way of evening entertainment unless you like bingo or music quiz (each costing to take part). We did notice that there was often entertainment put on for the kids in the theater. Having said that, on Saturday night, it is Cretan night with live dancing in the restaurant. We were asked if we would like to reserve a table at the front and order a bottle of wine, this was a really good night and well worth going to dinner early for.

All in all, a lovely holiday, probably the most relaxing one I've ever had and we are considering returning next year.

Room Tip: Unless you are really fit, ask for a room in blocks 100, 200 or 600. These are located at the botto...

Nice and clean site out of town, several kilometers away, means dependence on a shuttle once an hour or walk that means hours for means.
But, if you go there with kids for the Aqua Park or if you like your skin well-done in the sun, this is the place for you. If you want to go to see people, shops, restaurants, nice beaches, nice sites etc' you must rent a car otherwise you stuck.
The food was quite diverse and tasty but nothing out of standard.
For me it is good Guesthouse. Why?
1. Rooms are equipped functionally.
2. Vary small lobby. The bar is outside the building that means no air condition. So, if it is worm ….
3. Dining room away, and for some far away, from the rooms, they are not in the same building.
4. Window facing the transition path just inconvenience.

Room Tip: Check A/C functions. Room on second floor-less noise from the iron chairs dragged in middle of nigh...

experinced traveller! Stayed in june 2012 and had a good time they even let us have our room very early which we were very greatful very clean and very spacious (see pics), staff were mostly fantastic and our rooms were great so unless we got lucky i dont understand the earlier comments, pools were great had adult only pool at top of resort with family pool below and kids pool by the entrance and a free aqua park to the left of the hotel which was great fun, they said about a few kids in the pool and hotel? then why go to a hotel with kids pool, family pool, kids club, fun slides, kids snackbar, kids activities, football pitch? wake up!!! food was ok to good bit repetitive but i think that all inclusive hotels 4* and below its a buffet style with a small amount of queing! dont let them tell you any different maybe 5-6 people at peak 1 min max wait.
euro 2012 football was on during nightimes with a few people wearing football shirts but was good natured, again if this is the kind of thing that upsets you i am sure you can hook up to you live conference meetings or sit in the corner on your own if you wish at a 5* hotel.
free bus service to star beach through the day.
now for me the 2 bad points you should understand!
1. we stayed at the top of the hill and although i am fairly fit its not good for any elderly person or with any disabilities! its steep! i am sure if you ask before you book you can get the lower levels they are so much better.
2. No entertainment at nights this really lets the hotel down!

Room Tip: top 3 rows of villas are too steep ask for lower

After arriving at 12 am we were giving our key to the room at the top of a very steep hill, room was a very poor standard it smelled and basically looked like an old school changing room with a bed plonked in it. There was also no cot for my baby, Hotel claimed we never made a special request for a cot even though we booked an infant, you wouldn't book an adult and then specially request a bed. After 2 long hours and one very tired baby the hotel said they couldn't provide a cot until the next day but offered a changing matt for my 8 month of son to sleep on, The next day i spoke to the manager who gave us a new room and cot for our son, The new room was spacious and was on the ground floor and was ok but not what you would expect from a 4 star hotel 3 star at best, room service just gave the room a tidy never cleaned, Food was not what you'd expect from a 4 star but edible, most things were very salty and swimming in grease, breakfast was the worst sausages like hot dogs bacon was basically ham slices cooked eggs were sometimes undercooked and really greasy, the restaurant staff worked very hard but there was not enough staff also there was a faulty juice machine that sprayed juice everywhere so the floor was always wet and people were slipping all over the place but they wouldn't address the issues, also if you were not in the restaurant within the first 20 minutes you would struggle to find a glass to drink from. hotel grounds and the complex as a whole was to a good standard but the impression i got was that everything was built to a good standard and then just forgotten about and I would dread to see the condition in a few years. it is a 20 minute walk into time which i don't mind as am an active person, The only good point was we got a very good price for a 2 week stay all inclusive

Although complex is very good, nice pools etc , the hills are terrible , we did get sunbeds the first week of our stay but the second week when the hotel filled up it was a struggle as were the very long queues for food and drinks.. drinks were not as advertised very cheap awful substitutes ..no brands .. only if you paid .. food was not 4* at all , just average.. often the same things over and over ... room was good very clean and airy ( we changed rooms as we were too high up and I could not manage the hills) .. we did have 2 cockroaches in our room one night and our friends were infested with ants and had to move too.... AI coffee was awful if available... absolutely dire at night NO entertainment what so ever and if you managed to get a seat there was no lighting to be able to even play cards to relieve the boredom.. the free bus was often full and it is a long walk to town .. Star beach complex very good but very pricey. Overall hotel 2* plus at a push , if you have children they will be quickly bored especially at night .

Room Tip: ask for low down room

Staff, rooms and food all first class. Short walk to the beach but return walk uphill could prove troublesome for the elderly or overweight. However, hotel provides hourly coach service to and from beach.

I was there watching the Euro Championship at what must have been the same time as a previous reviewer (returned 18/6) and certainly did not witness a fight/brawl between guests. If the beer did run out during the England game, I certainly did not notice as our party never had any problems refilling our glasses. Two people worked the bar during the evenings and when there were queues, the wait was not long.

The staff were especially welcoming and attentive and the whole complex was kept clean at all times.

Room Tip: Room lower down the slope means less uphill walk returning to your room although higher positioned r...

Stayed for one week 12th-19th June.

Food.............Varied & tasty, we did not experience any queues.

Drinks.........We did not queue for any more than 5 minutes, the staff were cheerful & helpful.

The pool areas were great, the relax pool was very quiet with it's own bar.

Our room (928) was high up the hill.............but we knew this could be the case before we arrived so cannot complain!.......plus we had a great view!

Entertainment not great.............but this was not the reason we went on holiday!Overall I give this hotel 4 out of 5 stars..............the horror stories of massive queues and poor food were NOT what we experienced.
