Reviewed 19 July 2014

Just returned with my wife and 2 children from visiting this park for the third time. It has been our choice of holiday for the last 3 years.

The resort has got 3 pools suited for children, one of them for the smallest and one with plenty of waterslides to enjoy. We picked it because it's very suitable for younger children and we decided to go with the all-inclusive format.

The things that really make this an incredible holiday, is the excellent offer of food and drinks and the amazing staff. Each and every person of the staff is very friendly and helpful. For example, in our case we wanted a different room, since the higher positioned ones require quite a walk. On two separate occasions a different room was realized within two days of our stay. And during our last stay, we were even "rewarded" for changing our room, with some complementary fresh fruit and Greek delights.

Speaking of the rooms, these are kept clean every day, with a fresh supply of towels as well. It's not a four star hotel-room but for us it was clean enough and we never ran out of towels or other toilet needs...

At our last visit, the restaurant had been renovated, now looking much more open thanks to the use of the white colors. The only drawback is, that there seemed to be some cluttering during dinnertime. Everybody just randomly walks in every direction. Perhaps forming proper lines would help resolve this issue.

The amount and quality of the food offered in the restaurant is very impressive to say the least.
The diversity of the menu is enormous and of excellent quality. During our 11-day stay, it's very easy to eat something different each day. Every day you can pick from several types of bread, soup, fresh fruit, cold salads, fries, meat, fish, Greek dishes, pasta, icecream, cakes, deserts, etc. The list literally just goes on from there. The most annoying part during dinner times, is to see the amount of food, left untouched on the plates. Apparently it's very common, to scoop up your plate with as much food as possible. Only to leave most of it for the staff to cleanup. Personally, I find it shameful to see the amount of food that people waste. This could be resolved by making the staff fill the plates for the guests, instead of the guests doing it themselves.

Every Saturday there is a Greek night, with some dancing and entertainment, you can book a table for 15 euros at the restaurant. During our last stay, we couldn't find a seat at the restaurant, because all the tables were taken. This was resolved by eating on the terrace near the bar. Although slightly inconvenient, this only happened once. The restaurant also offers an Italian night, which of course offers Italian food, for no extra costs.

There are plenty of activities to be done with the children on the resort itself. Although it seems mainly focused on English and French/Belgium nationalities. There is also a cost-free shuttle bus that can bring you to the nearby and popular Star Beach each day.

The drinks at the bar are just plain good and there is plenty of variation to pick from, Local spirits, beer, wine, cocktails and soft drinks. Just don't expect to be offered brand quality drinks. Are there drawbacks? Sure, but they are only minor ones:

- The beds are actually quite hard, this can be easily resolved by laying down some extra sheets on the mattress.
- Kids entertainment is only for the mentioned nationalities
- A bit of cluttering during dinner times
- Steep walk for the higher situated rooms

Besides the drawbacks, I would definitely return to this resort. Most importantly due to the hard work, patience and kindness of the staff, from the cooks, to the cleaning crew and everyone else. Special thanks for our 3 lovely holidays go out to the following staff members:
- Marianna from the Kids Paradise for her patience, sweetness and kindness
- Margarita and Stella from reception for their excellent help
- Grazoela from cleaning for her exceptional kindness and warmth

Room Tip: Pick a low number (below 800) to avoid high climbs to your room.

Reviewed 16 July 2014

We stayed here as a family of six (four adults and two children-aged 11 and 10) in july 2014.

Food- The food is average- they have the usual chips/pasta/rice however the food is mainly catered towards the Germans and the Polish, not for British people. Food signs are displayed in german/french as well as english. Wide range of desserts and ice cream. Hotel offers local spirits, beer, wine, cocktails and soft drinks (however only available from 11am to 11pm and soft drinks are not coke/sprite/fanta etc they are cheaper versions) Greek theme night a shambles! You have to pay 15 euros to book your table in the restuarant on a saturday night to watch the dancing. We went to the italian restaurant one night and had the pizza- it was lovely.

Staff- The daytime staff in the bar are lovely however at night there is one particular rude bar tender who when I asked could I please have a fizzy orange that 'he would give it to me this once but to use the self service machine near the restaurant' The staff in the childrens bar are ignorant however the cleaners are nice and helpful.

One of our children went to a Thomas Cook kids club party and loved it. The TC rep for this hotel, Gillian could not be nicer. One of our party fell ill during our stay there and we had to call the doctor and she rang every morning to ask how my mum was and then came and visited her.

Entertainment- What entertainment? Entertainment is not existent. Do not go to this hotel if you are looking nightly entertainment. During the day, entertainment is average- they offer water aerobics and water polo and darts for the children. Night entertainment consisted of a sketch show which was NOT SUITABLE for children and one of our family members had to ask if the comedy show the following evening was cleaner and suitable for children. Bingo is offered also however you have to pay 2 euros per card and the numbers are called out in a variety of different languages so a ten minute game turns into fourty-five minutes.

Accommodation- room is good- basic however the television only consisted of one english channel (BBC world news) the rest were in french/greek or german. Bathroom contained a sink/shower and bath however our main problem with our room was creepy crawlies. The amount of ants in the room was horrendous-one of our family members dropped a pringle in the room to come back to find the room infested with ants. The bedroom itself was comfortable and clean- bed is comfortable enough. Air conditioning in the room but it is variable as to whether it works or not.

Location- As many mentioned, the hotel is set on a hill. We made three phone calls and sent an email to this hotel asking for our room to be on a lower floor as we were travelling with two children and an elderly woman as well as two rooms next to one another. We were given rooms that were half way up the hill so we were lucky in that respect as the walk wasnt that bad. If you have a room 800 or up, good luck because the hill is steep!! Upon arrival, a golf buggy brought us to our room which was good because it meant we didnt have to lug our suitcases up the hill.

There are three pools- a relax pool, main pool and childrens pool. Like many resorts, the fight for sunbeds was awful. We had to be up at 6:00am every morning to get our sunbed at the main pool. we only used the childrens pool once and it was fine as the snack bar close to it served chips burgers etc. We only used the waterpark once as to get there you have to go down the hill and there is a limited number of sunbeds.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on a low floor, close to reception

Dear guest, thank you for taking your time to write a review of our resort on tripadvisor, we appreciate all feedback be it good or bad. We are surprised that you believe our choice of food is only directed towards German and Polish guests as we have an international kitchen with each night in the restaurant themed on a different nationality. The food we had was of British cuisine with our choices of fried fish, many types of meats including chicken, pork, turkey and others as well as salads and other appetizers. As for the 15 euro price to book a table for Greek night this is an option of having a bottle of wine from our wine list that we have available in the restaurant. We thank you for our kinds words regarding our Italian restaurant, your compliments will be paid to the chef.

Kind Regards

I've just come back from 2 weeks in the smart line village resort and waterpark I can't complain about the hotel it's self as it was very clean our room was cleaned and bedding changed everyday the food was very good weather was amazing no entertainment as such they had a mini disco for the kids from 9-10 which was good but it was in there theatre so if you wanted to go over there you would loose your seat around the bar area as it was very busy also it was a fight for the sunbeds and even if you went for a swim and had your towel on your sunbed someone would come and take it more than likely the Germans this hotel is European which we didn't know abpart from a couple of other British couples the rest where from all over I wouldn't go back to this hotel or crete it wasn't what we expected x

Room Tip: Definitely choose a low number room as the hill is a nightmare

Entertainment team worked brill darts, aqua gym, billiards, football, as well as evening entertainment. Staff here are extremely helpful, if you have a problem they will help you. Ive got to start by sharing my concerns i had about this hotel when i first booked a year ago, the reviews that i read had me filled with real worry, and i wasn't looking forward to this holiday at all.

How wrong i was!

On our arrival at 11.30pm, with three boys aged 8,6 and 3, the reception staff made the check in very speedy. We had requested a lower numbered room, as my husband was recovering from foot surgery and was struggling to walk. We were offered room 463, this was roughly 50 metres up the hill. ( ill mention more about this later ) We were offered a snack, which we declined and wanted to get the kids straight to bed, the buggy was called and we were taken straight to the room.

I agree with previous comments the rooms are no way a 4 star rating but what they are, are spacious, well ventilated and very very clean. although they could do with modernising, but What more could you ask for???

The rooms were cleaned every day, to a very high standard and clean towels were always left and bedding changed.

The dreaded hill that everyone mentions, didnt pose much of a problem to my 3 year old, who managed the walk 3 times a day. Not saying that a flatter hotel would have been more ideal, but lets face it a bit of exercise never hurt anyone, and you know when you book this hotel the layout as it specifies it.

The hill provides a spectacular view of Hersonisoss, and the quieter setting was ideal for us.

The waterpark let in children of all ages and sizes, if you were happy with your children going on the slides with swimming aids then they were allowed on. Life guards were always around and made sure safety was paramount.

There is a drinks bar in the waterpark but only for soft drinks/tea/coffee/water

I was really worried when someone wrote that the hotel didnt provide bottled water as this is the only refreshment my kids will drink, but along with the soft drinks there is a water station as well. We did buy bottled water for the fridge in our room and from the local shop it was 4 euros for 6 large bottles.

The main bar area was always open for tea and coffee as well as alcoholic and soft drinks. The night bar men were very friendly, especially Anthony who was very helpful and always had a smile.

The restaurant food was lovely, i am the worlds pickiest eater who wont try new things but i managed a meal at every sitting and loved that there was always something for the kids, pasta, chips, meat, etc.
The staff in the restaurant deserve a big thank you and praise, as they work very hard clearing away and making sure the restaurant is running smoothly.

We didn't have an issue with the towels on beds around the little and big pools. We always got beds and loved spending the day around there. The only complaint i had was the photographers constantly walking round asking to take pictures of you and your children.

The best part of the hotel for us was the smile on our childrens faces when attending kids club. We don't make our kids go to these clubs, they volunteered to go and some days more than once. It took my 3 year old 9 days to decide he wanted to go, and after he went that was it, he bonded with the reps and the other kids and he loved it! Danny, Tess, and Jennie were friendly, professional and our kids wanted to spend time with them. They have different activities during the day, with party nights (extra cost), every night at 9pm its mini disco time! My 2 eldest lived for the mini disco, and loved dancing and having fun with the kids reps. They work very hard and deserve lots of praise and appreciation for what they do. Big Thanks to all three of them (including shades!)

There is a regular shuttle bus down to star beach ( a definite must! ) and the driver will always come back for you if the bus is full. ( be aware there are no queuing system to get on this bus, other people will push, knock and shove you out of the way to get a seat, and these people weren't English. My youngest nearly got shoved down the bus steps by a french couple trying to get of the bus first)

i can honestly say that i would come back to this hotel next year. My children didn't want to come home and are already asking when we can go back.

Room Tip: ask for lower room numbers if you dont fancy the climb up the hill

We stayed here at the beginning of June, we booked it a year ago and asked for a sea view, and told them it was our wedding anniversary whilst we were there. When we arrived, we had been placed in room 1102, which us at the very top of the village,on the ground floor, with only a view if the apartment directly in front of you, very dark, no sign of any view whatsoever. Whilst we were there our daughter was ill, and we asked if we could move nearer to the bottom, as the golf carts are not easily accessible and we didn't want to keep making her walk up the very steep hill, we asked twice but we're just told no. We were all inclusive, but you have to lay if you want to take a picnic out, if you were going out for the day and wouldn't be there for lunch.
We are by no means lazy, however, the hill is extremely steep, and in the top rooms, you have the hill and then two flights of steps to climb. The beds were extremely uncomfortable, very hard, with one thin pillow, which we had to boost with beach towels underneath.
When you had a shower, the foam came up through a drain in the centre of the bathroom, and the extractor fan didn't work. There was a large fuse circuit board uncovered in the children's bedroom also.
The food was ok, lots of variety, but it wasn't always clear what things were. Apartments cleaned daily with nice touches such as our children's teddies and pyjamas being arranged on the bed, no complaints about cleanliness at all.
It's clear from the reviews here that the rooms are in a process of renovation, and the one we stayed in has not been touched, old broken TV, bathroom and beds as I've already described, tea cups were very small little cups and saucers, some staff on reception very rude.
We had looked forward to this holiday for a year, expecting a lovely room with a beautiful sea view, and it couldn't have been further from it.
We will not return to this hotel again.
