I've been coming to this family run taverna for many, many years and it never fails to deliver, mostly in summer, but also in winter, one time with a very large group. I will note from the start that it's a little pricier than others, but..... It's tucked away in the back streets of Old Hersonissos, away from the touristy plaza. Sitting in the yard under the lemon trees is very peaceful. The decor is very "country". The menu traditional, but except for the vegetarians, do go for a main dish from the wood oven, even if to share. The suckling pig and the lamb are slow cooked, moist, tender and full of flavour (there is also chicken, rabbit and some beef dishes in the oven). The Greek roast potatoes (done with the meat juice/water/oil) are almost like mash inside (but can be very, very hot). Some of their cheese is home made. We tend to have a few starters then share some meat dishes. There is a complimentary desert and raki - the desert varies, last time it was home made cherries preserved in syrup. Service is quirky (it is Greece). The place has a lot of character and I will continue to go back.
