My partner and I have just returned from a lovely holiday at the Creta Maris Beach resort.
Having arrived late at night, we were delighted by the initial impression of the hotel reception area and the staff. The buggy ride to our room was exciting and the staff, helpful. However, when we entered the room we were a little disappointed as the furniture was old and chipped and reminded us of something you would find at a lower starred establishment. We mentioned this to reception the next day and after a few meetings they showed us a different room as they didn’t want us to be unhappy! However, by this time we decided to stay where we were because the room was a lot larger and we didn’t want any more fuss. It was just a pity that we didn’t get the same ‘wow’ feeling as we have in other hotels but we were told that they are planning a refurbishment in the future so all credit to them.
Here are a few other thoughts on our holiday:
Plus points –
The beautiful architecture of the bungalows – we walked along the pathways and took lots of photos because it was so well designed and pretty.
The main pool, beach bar and beach were good. We easily got sun beds on the beach so that we were positioned equidistant between pool, sea and bar! What a result! We were also impressed by the pool attendants who did their job well. Their policy of removing towels from reserved sun beds worked and they efficiently policed the pool area throughout the day. We watched them politely tackle people who were not from the hotel, without making any fuss and were impressed at how they fulfilled the rest of their duties.
The service at the beach bar was quick – we developed a liking for the ‘red slushi’ drink and the espressos went down a treat!
The lunch at the bar near the main pool was delicious – we enjoyed the chicken, rice, pasta and salads. The wine was nice too.
The daytime entertainment was good. The chap who did the Pilates etc. worked hard and everyone had a smile on their face - especially Anita.
Our experience at the Pithos restaurant was super. Nothing could prepare us for our delighted shock at being given all the starters from the menu! Amazing! We hardly had room for the rest of the meal but it was wonderful. We also enjoyed the Cochilas restaurant too.
The live singing around the pool and Greek dancing was brilliant.
The hotel is in a good location – you can walk to the busy town or along a quieter road. Perfect.

Points to consider:
Our first night in the main dining hall was terrible. Not because of the food or the hotel but because of the other guests. I was pushed at least 3 times, had my foot trodden on and even had a large lady rest her boob on my arm whilst standing in a queue. This really annoyed me and put me off the idea of ever doing an All Inclusive again! Fortunately, it did get a bit better during the week but what is wrong with some people?!
Main pool – Not once did I get in and have a swim or even a ‘bob around’ without being hit or bumped into by another guest. My partner kept reminding me that we could go to a quieter pool but I liked the music of the main pool and the ambience. I just wish that people could give you a little space! I’m not asking for tonnes of room, I’m just asking to be able to have a little bob on the edge of the pool without someone swimming into me! Again, this is not the fault of the hotel.
Cooked breakfasts could have been hotter in the Estia restaurant (or ‘Morgue’ as my partner called it). Also, it is not worth booking there for an evening meal as service was poor. We were shown to a table and left for ages. Nobody came to serve drinks. When we asked for assistance we were told that they were busy serving someone else! Finally we got our drinks and could start our meal but it was a bit disappointing. Why make the effort to book the place if you’re not going to be treated with a little more care and attention?
Entertainment in the evening was DREADFUL. The entertainers themselves were lovely, gorgeous people who worked very hard indeed and this is not a criticism of them in the slightest. They were friendly and kept the guests happy. You only have to read the reviews to see that they are a good bunch. My criticism is that the hotel feels it is okay for performers to mime at their evening shows. It is not. I have been to a handful of hotels where they have performers that actually sing. In this day and age it is an insult to watch people miming to songs.

Other points (not hotel related):
If you hire a car, be warned that some of the maps aren’t representative of the actual area – we tried going through a couple of villages on our way back to the resort and ended up having to do an hour and a half detour because the larger roads turned into dirt tracks and our little Fiat 500 couldn’t cope!
If you go to Zeus’s cave, there’s a LONG rocky walk up to it which could be difficult in the hot sun so go prepared! I also felt sorry for the donkeys having to take tourists up the hill in the blazing sun. You could tell they didn’t like it but I guess some folk are oblivious to these things.

Overall, we had a lovely holiday at the Creta Maris Beach resort and would recommend it to anyone. The hotel is really nice, the people are friendly and service is very good.
Thank you for your hospitality. 

Wonderful facilty with exceptional service and beautiful scenery. Very clean and well manicured grounds and no complaints at all about the room (Bungalow) where we stayed. The staff could not be better, were always helpful, and often went above and beyond with personal service. For example, during one dinner at the "tapas" restaurant the staff must have noticed my very picky-eater 5 year old daughters reluctance, and minutes later returned with chicken nuggests and pasta, which certainly not on the menu, must have been brought in from another of the restaurants. This made her night. Well, that and the nightly "mini-disco" for kids which she absolutely loved and still sings some of the songs. She also loved the kids club and each day returned with a new art project of some sort.
So many pools to choose from each day, all with something slighly different to offer, and a beautiful beach where you could always find a chair.
Food and drinks everywhere. Nice touch having "self-serve" cold water taps on such hot days in August. The buffets in general we found very nice but not exceptional. Always some very tasty dishes but others of the good but not great variety (except for the very fresh fruits and wonderful desserts). We did eat at three of the "specialty restaurants" which you need to reserve the day before and found all of them a step up from the buffets. Be sure to try the "barbeque" restaurant located next to the beach in a perfect spot. All in all it was best "all inclusive" I have ever been to and we hope to return again.

Room Tip: Bungalows are very nice. We had a second floor "sea-view" which was great, but everywhere...

Hotel have 5 stars but: empty minibar you have to buy your own stuff, late checkout is impossible even you have small children, unprofessional service in reception, some of barmans in pool bar really dont know mix any coctails, wine from wine card is 3 times more expensive than in shop. Food was nothing special, only sups and salads were perfect. Pools were clean, but after 7 p.m.hotel stuff kicked you off it. Serving alcohol to children under 18 /mainly on disco/.

Dear Guest,

Thank you very much for your feedback. We are sorry we have not met your expectations during your last stay at Creta Maris. We will read your comments and do our best to ameliorate our services in the future. Nevertheless, please allow us to inform you that late checkout can be offered upon availability and with an extra cost. In case a guest prefers not to use his room or in case there is no availability, guests can use the "Late Departure Room" where they can have a shower, lock their belongings, and rest at the lounge watching TV. Moreover, please allow us to explain that all pools are stop operating at 7pm as most of the guests are dinning and silence should be respected. Lastly, please allow us to reassure you that all our bars do not serve alcohol to children under 18yrs old, this is the reason children wear a different color bracelet.
We wish you have contacted a member of our staff during your stay in order to share your dissatisfaction, so that we could have done our best to ameliorate your stay. We really hope to have another chance in the future to accommodate you and offer a better experience of our hospitality.

Best regards,

Faye Papaioannou

Dear Guest,

Thank you very much for your feedback which we have also received by email. We are sorry we have not met your expectations during your last stay. As we already explained, all deluxe bungalows are newly renovated and have no mold issues. The walls of the rooms have an old style pattern and that was probably the reason you were confused. . Our hotel manager visited the room with an engineer and detected the areas indicated. As the engineer mentioned the indoor trace is not mold but a mistake in the coloring of the wall during renovations. Concerning the outdoor area there is indeed a cracking on the wall and we will proceed with all needed actions in order to be repaired. We really hope to have a chance to welcome you again at Creta Maris in the near future and offer you an ameliorated experience of our hospitality.

Best regards,

Faye Papaioannou

We are very familiar with the hotel, we've stayed many times before, with an ethos of 'customer' first ' the Creta Maris know how to keep you happy.

We were well looked after by Manolis on the front desk and wherever we went we were greeted with a warm friendliness that made us feel genuinely welcome.

The food was good and the restaurant booking facility a neat new addition. The main restaurant gets crowded at busy times. It is really worth checking where in the hotel your travel company have booked you - as each part of the hotel offers a different experience.

We're delighted and we'll be back soon

Room Tip: Terra building is quieter , but further from the beach. The Creta bungalows have real character - av...

I have recently returned from a 2 week stay at the Creta Maris beach resort, and can honestly say it is one of the best I have stayed at. Originally booked for 10 days and loved it so much we extended our stay!!! Location was perfect, food was amazing, but most of all the staff were exceptional. Especially the amazing animation team, with special thanks to Anita, Rio, Bethan, Ben and Mike who made our stay what it was. Every one of them were nothing short of professional and put on a great show every night as well as kept all of the guest entertained at the pool during the day. Michael Jackson show, lord of the dance and miss Creta Maris were a few of my favourites. Endless energy and fun from the whole team. Thank you all for an unforgettable holiday! Highly recommend this resort to anyone considering a stay here and will most defiantly be returning sooner rather than later.

Our family spent 2 weeks at Creta Maris all inclusive beach resort and they achieved the near impossible. All of us (from 15-54) had the most fantastic time, with activities, pools, food and drink to more than satisfy everyone. The staff were so friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. The customer relations team helped us arrange a surprise champagne breakfast for our parents wedding anniversary, for which we are very grateful.
The food is fantastic. From the main restaurant to any of the 5 Al a cartes there was so much choice using the freshest, locally produced ingredients. I would have loved to smuggle some of their baklava home with me!
The pools were always clean and as there was 7 of them (including indoor pools) they were never overcrowded.
Rooms were clean and beds were comfy.
Gillian, our Thomas Cook rep. was fantastic. She made it feel like she was more of a friend to the family and went out of her way to make sure we had the best holiday-Thank you.
I cannot recommend this hotel enough, I would definitely go back. The only negative was the entertainment, we ended up playing guess how many people leave before the end. However, even this didn't detract from the fun atmosphere we felt.
Final shout out to Manos in the Romantic bar-Thumbs up!!
