We have just returned from a weeks holiday to Nana beach in Crete. I am sorry to say this hotel did not live up to expectations. On arrival we were provided with room 512 which almost undoubtedly has one of the worst views being of a small planted area and the service area of the main hotel restaurant. If we ventured onto the small balcony it simply involved looking at bins or workmen unloading equipment.
Our shower leaked water all across the bathroom floor every time it was used. We reported this to reception the morning after we arrived but reception did not seem concerned. Someone did come to test it but nothing happened or improved. We also advised the thomson rep of this. When we chased reception about it later in the week the receptionist simply said they may not have had chance to fix it yet and to put towels on the floor. For a 4/5 star hotel this is not at all an acceptable response to faulty equipment.
The thomson rep was very aware of the shortcomings of this hotel, they did not provide us with thomson packs on arrival and we had to ask at reception when the welcome talk was. When we told the rep she said, yes this was normal. Reception was supposed to hand them out but hadn't been. At our talk alone at least half of the new arrivals that should have been there were missing.

The food and drinks were okay although the food was never very hot. While you get a fair amount of variety on each meal you can tell that the quality of the fresh fruit and vegetables is not quite the same as if you ate in a restaurant outside the hotel. We did go to the Greek and Italian al a carte although the food was the same as you get in the main restaurants. In the Greek we were served the same small squares of Moussaka as had been in the main restaurant the day before (with unmelted cheese sprinkled on top).

Customer service was generally good in the bars and restaurants with one particularly jovial bar tender. Despite this I would be very unlikely to return for another holiday. While there were ample facilities for children i do not feel this was the best choice for a couples holiday.

I have just returned from a week in Hotel Nana Beach and can honestly say it was one of the best holidays we have ever had. From the time we arrived at the hotel the staff were helpful and friendly. Check in could not have gone more smoothly, dropped off at reception by the Thompson coach, quickly checked in and then taken quickly to our room by a golf buggy (we tipped but it is not essential).

Our room was in the 600 range which was on the quieter side of the complex, we were given a guide to the hotel services when we checked in. The room was very clean and comfortable, air conditioning was a godsend as it was quite hot. The guide also gives you the opening times of the pools, restaurants and bars.

In my opinion there was a lot of choice for food and drink. We could have drunk cocktails most of the day if we wanted to and you can eat pretty much constantly from 7.30am to gone midnight. The food was varied to cover most tastes with vegetarian options, freshly cooked meats, greek dishes, pasta and always an excellent choice of salads. You can also get sandwiches and hotdogs/chips type of things from some of the other food places around the complex. There are 3 a la carte restaurants but we only got as far as the greek and fish restaurant and loved them both.

The hotel has a lot of different pools and care has been taken to provide something for everyone from a dedicated kids pool, to a main joint pool, and an adults only quiet pool. There is also easy access to the beach as part of the facilities.

You can choose to do nothing or get involved with the activities, I tried archery and was given a beginners lesson, a stretch class, `aqua fun' in the main pool, `aqua kick boxing' in the main pool, legs bums and tums and a zumba class. We also used the gym which is small but perfectly formed for basic work outs.

There is a spa type of service on site, and this included a very nice massage which you have to pay extra for.

On check out again it was very efficient and you continue to have access to all the facilities until you leave. The only downside was that you had to give back your beach towels (which they give you a card for you have to return on check out), but they do provide towels from reception along with a luggage room and shower facilities which meant I could stay in the pool until 5.30pm when my coach picked me up at 7pm, so I didn't feel that I wasted the last day.

There is a bus stop right outside the hotel you can catch buses quickly and easily around the island for a very reasonable price.

The only negative that we had for the entire time was the service provided by Thompson. We booked a couple of excursions with them, which we could have done more cheaply ourselves but decided to just go for it. BUT they didn't tell us that there was extra charges which over 2 trips added up to almost 50 Euros for 2 people. The first was for Knossos entry which is 10 Euros if combined with a museum ticket, and secondly on a gorge walk 5 Euros charge to enter the national park then 10 Euros to get the boat back to the coach for the return. I did speak to the rep about this and she said it was a complete oversight for the first trip so I was quite cross when it happened again, and with potentially more serious consequences if you have no money to pay to get on a boat after walking for 18km. Similarly it was chaotic at the airport, and whilst much of that was to do with the way the airport runs, there were substantial queues which meant we didn't have a clue what particular queue we were supposed to be joining and it was one big unorganised mess.

Finally we were given a slip of paper under our bedroom door to say that there would be a farewell meeting one evening and it was when we attended this we were given our departure pick up times, which could have easily been popped under the door instead of the slip of paper in the first place.

However, none of this overshaddowed the fantastic holiday we had at Nana Beach, I would recommend it to anyone.

Room Tip: They will try to allocate you a room on your requirements eg family room on the family side, quiet r...

P.S.: A good and economic option for excursions in Crete are the public busses. The bus station is right in front of the hotel. If you come next time and want to go e.g. to Agios Nikolaos, Spinalonga, etc., please don't hestitate to ask for information at the reception and we will be happy to assist you.

The standard has performances every evening, there is a real Greek taverna dinner, invested in quality and beautiful. No words just amazing and you should go there for recreation time after time. This was the third time we had been to Nana Beach and it met all expectations yet again. The staff are amazingly friendly and very eager to help. They are very polite and make you feel very special and most welcome. The food was of the same high standard and the meals we had in the 3 a la cart restaurants was delicious. THIS IS INCLUDED IN THE ALL INCLUSIVE. The rooms are exceptionally clean and towels changed daily. the pools are also kept very clean and tidy and it was great having new sunbeds this year. the private beach and bay is ideal for swimming and snorkeling and the scuba diving is brilliant. Scuba Creta run a diving school within the complex. very reasonably priced and great fun. I was so amazed and had such a fantastic holiday I booked straight away to go again with my daughter. Leaving Friday 20th June. Only been home a fortnight so that says it all.

Room Tip: The main building tends to be a bit quieter.

Hotel facilities are excellent, it caters for everyone. Staff in all areas, helpful, and friendly. Clean hotel facilities (I am fussy)
Quiet holiday - go by the rocks, or the adult only pool sheer paradise. Bit of entertainment - go to the smaller pool. Full entertainment/activities - go to the main pool
Food great, good choices everyday, and other restaurants to choose from (I have never been all inclusive before, but would again)
Entertainment (Animation Team) - FANTASTIC! - great shows each night, daily activities, we were well entertained everyday.

Room Tip: We got private transfers from the airport, and were at the hotel within 45 mins, and beat the coach...

We chose this hotel after seeing a lot of positive reviews and we were not disappointed. The hotel exceeded all our expectations. It shouldn't be called hotel because it is more like a village (resort) and this added to the experience.

You can have whatever type of holiday you want - fun with the kids, activities with friends or a quiet relaxing break. All are catered for at Nana Beach. My wife and I went with our friends and were looking for peace and quiet and we got it!

We were not happy with the first rooms that we we were given but that proved no problem to Garifalia and the accommodation staff. Because we had booked the holiday together it was assumed that we wanted adjoining rooms. Once we had pointed this out they moved us to the bungalow blocks (rooms 682 and 685). These rooms were excellent. They were comfortable, clean, spacious and quiet.

The food and drink was outstanding at all the restaurants and snack bars and the three 'a la carte' restaurants were a great night out. The staff were really friendly and attentive and were great fun at the end of the evening. My favourite restaurant was the Thalassa, which overlooks the sea, and my favourite 'a la carte' was Zorba's, the Greek.

We organised our own trip to Spinalonga and called into Hersonissos one evening but those were the only times we left the complex. We used all the pools and all the snack bars and my only moan is that the the Wifi was not free.

Sunbeds were never a problem especially because you could use anyone of the five pools, the beach and the sun terraces on the cliffs all along the front of the complex.

All in all definitely the best all inclusive we've stayed at. Highly recommended and we would definitely return again and again.

Room Tip: Try to get a room in the blocks especially numbers higher than 500

This was an excellent family holiday and the best hotel we have been to all inclusive
The restaurants and food was excellent overall but some food was very oily and greasy, not a massive issue but something that could be improved. Kids ate well everyday.
The staff in Athina were excellent and Efi and Sofia made it a pleasure to go there and were great with the kids.
We ate at 2 Al a Cartes Zorbas the Greek and The Italian. The Greek one was understaffed and no vegetarian options an we were not overly impressed but the Italian is well worth a visit, great staff and service and lovely food.
We used Manolis snack bar in the day as this was close to our room, Manoli was great he kept his bar immaculate and the food and drinks were great.
We used panorama bar during the evenings, great staff but drinks were mixed too strong for me personally. Beer and wine were great and excellent quality.
There were loads of pools, we used the one right outside our room ut there is something for everyone. The beach is great and a very child friendly beach for children with an out door park.
There is also an indoor park where the kids club is. My 4 year old chose to try kids club and the reps were excellent there especially Kate who my little one loved.
There was a mini disco every night which was international but I think that's a good thing and the kids don't care what they are dancing to.
Animation team worked hard, we saw a couple of shows the kids enjoyed the fire show and we went to the Greek nights which were very professional.
There is a supermarket out the front of the hotel to the right, this is much cheaper that the shop at the hotel. The shop staff were a little rude at times but we used it for convenience.
Stalis is a 15 minute walk and a nice change of scenery and Hersonisos is about 25 minutes in the other direction, there is a dirt track from the beach that you can take and is a lovely walk with some beautiful beaches on the way.
We would return to this hotel without a doubt. We travelled with Thomson but did not really have much involvement with the reps only the transfers.

Room Tip: we were 365 ground floor right by the pool, we were in a quieter area of the hotel but you could hea...
