“Perfect for everyone. Idealistic hotel!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 July 2014 via mobile

The online photos do not do this hotel justice. Everything here was better than anticipated. The location is ideal - not too far from local bars and restaurants but not in the thick of it nor noisy. Food was brilliant. Always fresh and very good quality. Plenty of choice. This hotel was fitting for all ages and interests - plenty to do and plenty of opportunities to relax. Friendly, helpful staff. Rooms were lovely and the grounds are very well kept. It is safe to say that I would recommend this hotel and it's location to anyone!

We have just returned today from a 14 day holiday at Nana Beach and can honestly say that it is one of the best resorts that we have ever been to. The staff were all brilliant, our room was exactly as seen on the website and was kept that way every day by the excellent cleaning staff - nice touches were fresh flowers every day. We used the Thalassa restaurant every day for breakfast and dinner and cannot praise all the staff there enough - lovely people. We ate in one of the a la carte restaurants - Zorbas and it was really good as well. Plenty of choice on the buffets - you would have to be really fussy not to find something that you liked! We do not like pools so spent every day on the beach - plenty of sunbeds and it is really good that you can get clean beach towels every day. Praise again for the staff at the Nautilus snack bar that is at the beach -she is by herself but works through the queue with efficiency and a big smile for all. Finally again more praise for the staff in the Panorama bar - how they remember out of the hundreds of people served every day what your particular favourite is is remarkable!
Will we be back? Yes, yes, yes!!! thank you for a fabulous holiday.

Room Tip: We were in room 507 which had a garden view and was close to everything - some noise from the loadin...

The hotel complex is very big and well clean. However what I did not like is the quality of the food. It looked very cheap and did not respond to the standards that I would expect.
Also, I highly recommend to avoid any rooms in the main building (where the reception is): they are noisy and have views to the street. The bedroom doors could do with a change: mine was just a cheap metal door, that allowed all the noise from the lift landing and staircase to come into my room.

Room Tip: Try to get rooms as far away as possible from the main building. Bungalows or room directly facing t...

This is a great hotel to stay in, especially for families with young kids. There are several pools to choose from and one mini-water park that is partially shaded to protect kids from direct sunlight. There is also a shaded playground (kids club) and also organized kids activities and kids disco. There are also many activities for adults such as tennis, gym, pool, table tennis, even archery. The hotel has its own beach front so you needn't pay rental for deckchairs. But I won't recommend it as a place for romantism or business.

It is full-board and 2 main buffet restaurants serving a great spread of food. For dinner, you can choose to go for ala carte at 3 different restaurants with greek, italian and seafood themes. They were ok, the greek was the better of the 3, thus I still preferred the buffet.

Stalis is the nearest seaside town, 5 min walk away. More restaurants there. Hersonissos is the next big town to the west and it is more than 20 min walk. Taxi 7€. Bus goes every 15min, 1.60€.

Staff were always friendly and helpful. I received very kind treatment from 'Gabrelia' at the reception. Our room was nice with seaview. Beds were made everyday and fresh flowers in the room were replaced occassionally. I appreciate that we had daily change of towels even though we had hung up our towels.

Just come back from a 10 day holiday at nana beach. It's was fab, staff very helpful, gorgeous food and great selection, you can eat all day if you wanted to. Kids club brilliant and fun staff. Always something going on there. Room was a bit basic and not like the picture we had seen but at the end of the day it's just somewhere to crash out. Would definitely go again.

Nana beach really nice hotel lovely pools with snack bars near by , private beach was nice with a snack bar the night entertainment was good and went on till late but it never bothered us as it was near the beach side . The rooms where lovely clean and roomy with a fridge which was a bonus . Food was nice and plenty of it , would go again in the future . Went to the aqua plus water park not very good at all very dated and shabby .

We have just returned from a two week holiday in this hotel and can honestly say that it was better that what we expected with only a couple of minor issues. The hotel is approximately one hour drop off from the airport and check in was very quick and efficient, once you fill in your registration card and get banded and issued with your towel cards the reception staff explain about the eating/drinking and swimming options etc.
There are two main buffet restaurants where you can eat your breakfast lunch and dinner
"Athina" in the main hotel block.
Breakfast 07:00 - 10:00
Lunch 12:30 - 15:00
Dinner 18:30 - 22:00 (gentleman to wear long trousers) this is strictly enforced.

"Thalassa" at the beach front of the hotel.
Breakfast 07:30 - 10:00
Dinner 19:00 - 22:00 (shorts are acceptable here)

Our favourite was the 'Thalassa" for both breakfast and dinner this is a lot quieter and not so busy with fantastic views of the beach area.

There are also four snack bars where you can can eat quickly and simply and get drinks
"La Pergola", "Poseidon", "Nautilus" & "Kalypso" all very near to a swimming pool so you don't have to pack your swimming gear and go and eat.
10:00 - 18:00

In the evenings there are three A La Carte Restaurants which have to be booked in the main restaurant "Athina" at either breakfast time or lunch time only usually the day before
Zorbas (Greek traditional Specialities) 18:30 - 21:00
Poseidon (Fish specialities) 18:30 - 21:00
Firenze (Italian specialities) 18:30 - 21:00

Our two favourites were "Firenze" and "Poseidon" we ate at both of these twice, watch out for Stella the chef at Poseidon she loves to go around after people have finished their meals and share a few shots of Raki with you!

We were allocated a room in the 600 block which was only a quick buggy ride away with your suitcases, the room was clean comfortable and quiet with an efficient air conditioning unit decent shower with a restricted view from the balcony of a large tree but we didn't go on holiday to spend a lot of time in our room. The television had quite a few english channels including Sky Sports and BBC World News. If you wish to use the safe/lockbox in your room you have to get the key from reception which will cost you 2 euros a day also you have to pay for wifi which can be bought on pre paid cards i.e: 90 minutes for 5 euros 200 minutes for 10 euros + there are longer options which I can't remember the exact prices of but I think it was approximately 50 euros for a 7 day card, the benefits of these cards is that the time only runs whilst you are logged in to the internet just remember to turn of your wifi after you finish browsing etc to save your unused minutes.

There are seven swimming pools spread on the hotel grounds so you are never very far away from one of them and for a refreshing change there are loads of sunbeds so there is no need to get up early and reserve (but so people just can't beat the habit and do) the pools are all very much the same i.e: clean and at a comfortable temperature. There is also an adult only pool for over 16's but there is no bar snack service by this pool.

All along the seafront of the hotel there is sunbathing and swimming terraces with shades and ladders to enter sea, we used our rubber beach shoes here and would recommend them to others as there are quite a lot of sea urchins on the rocks which are not very nice to step on! Carry on to the far end and there are two beach areas with sunbeds and shades which are protected by breakwaters with slow shelving sand so are very safe to swim in. As part of your all inclusive option this is where you can use the hotels water sports activities:-
Wind Surfing, Pedaloes, Canoes and Snorkelling.

There is entertainment most nights either in the amphitheatre which is a rep style show musical like Grease or a fire show which was very good, around the main pool area Greek dancing and singing with a bit of plate smashing. One night of the week there is a small group at the outdoor bar area of the main hotel which is very low key playing the usual pop music favourites for a couple of hours.

We went on two excursions on our holiday neither booked through First Choice as we were advised in advance that their trips were more expensive and a not as good as other tour operators.
We booked our trips in the Stalis village which is easy to get to by foot just go to the main road outside the hotel and turn left and walk for 30 minutes it is slightly downhill all the way.
In Stallis there are loads of small shops, restaurants, bars and vehicle hire garages, the shops sell the usual tourist type souvenirs and genuine fake designer fashion items.
Half way along the main street on the right is a tour operator "art of holidays" this is where we booked our two trips one to Spinalonga and another to Knossos through "Altino Travel Services" both were approximately 20 euros each cheaper than First Choice. One piece of advice we would like to advise after your visit Stallis is to get a taxi back to the hotel as it is slightly uphill and when we were there very very hot the taxi was only 7 euros and worth it, the guy in the tour operators rang for one after we booked our trip and even gave us a cold coke to drink whilst we waited a very nice man :-)
Both of the trips were excellent we were picked up outside the hotel main gate the same as all the other tour operators at the stated time and were not disappointed with the whole trip, when we talked to other gusts who booked through First Choice they all agreed that we had a better itinerary saw more did more and paid a lot less.

The only two issues with our stay here was the large majority of very rude arrogant and loud Russian guests who just don't know how to behave themselves and certainly never have heard of the queuing system at bars or and food buffet stations and the use of the words "please" and "thank you".
The second is allowing smoking in the outdoor "Thalassa" restaurant, there are a lot of very ignorant and selfish smokers who think it is still acceptable to light up and share their disgusting habit when they have finished their meal or even halfway through it at the table beside you or even upwind from you.

We would recommend this hotel to friends but would probably not return as there are a lot more hotels on other Greek islands to visit.

Room Tip: As for a quite top floor room to avoid early morning risers stomping about in the room above you.

Dear guests,

Thank you very much for making Nana Beach the hotel of your choice and for sharing your experiences and the nice pictures with other travellers. We hope you had a nice trip home.

We highly appreciate your detailled review, as you are describing many details of our "Cretan village" in a very nice and helpful way for everybody, who does not know Nana Beach yet. It is very nice to see, how much you enjoyed your well deserved holidays and that you also explored the island a little bit. Please allow us to add, that excursions e.g. to Agios Nikolaos, where you find boats to Spinalonga at the port, are also possible with the local busses. The bus station is right in front of the hotel and our reception is always happy to give some information.

Kindly note, that the majority of our guests is coming from western europe (Germany, England, Netherlands, Denmark, Belgium, France, etc.). Of course we also have guests e.g. from Russia, Poland, etc.. Usually all our guests are spending their well deserved holidays in harmony and we feel sorry that apparently in some situations you experienced something else.

We can understand your wish concerning Thalassa restaurant, but as a hotel we have smoking and non smoking guests. The whole inside area of the hotel is non smoking area, same as the main restaurant and the inside area of Thalassa, so we ask for your kind comprehension, that we can't deny smokers to light a cigarette in the outside area of Thalassa restaurant.

It was a big pleasure to welcome you and we hope to see you again, if one day you decide to return to Crete!

With sunny regards,
Yours sincerely
