“Worth it!”
Reviewed 21 August 2014

We have not long returned from a week at Nana beach with our two daughters (aged 11 and 8). Having only booked the trip several weeks before we felt we came up trumps with everything and had a great time. We have spent time looking at trip advisor in the run up to booking holidays with some apprehension, 'take as it comes' but this was a really fantastic hotel with great food, animation and surroundings. It was good to be back in Greece. We have never visited the same hotel twice in our years of holidays to Europe but this one would be the first.

Room Tip: Family room in the 'family' block was very good, very clean, spacious, really good room serv...

Great time , very good service, rooms, sea, location! Wonderful garden full of flowers....There are many pools different, some for children and one very relaxing and quiet for adults. The beach is sandy and clean, with showers and o lot of toilets.

Room Tip: We had a very good room near relaxation corner.

We really had a very kind welcome and the most enjoyable stay with the devoted team of Nana Beach.
In the complicated situation of bankruptcy of Labirint (our tour operator), we have been given wonderful and outstanding care, support, comfort and calm.
It is a beautiful Resort full of flowers and smiles of friendly team.

Great food and service in all restaurants!
Water sports - very good!

Room Tip: Rooms with sea view (as it is magnificent)

What can I say that is different to all the positive things written on here about this amazing place.
You will see from all the reviews that many people return again and again to this resort.
The staff from the owners to the MD to the bar staff etc make everyone feel very special and take a lot of pride in this family owned and run resort.
Our choice of Nana beach was a bit of a last resort as due to work commitments we were unable to book until just two weeks before. I was not sure I had made the right choice

We were so very surprised at how much we enjoyed ourselves. We had vowed to never do all inclusive again after a holiday in Egypt several years. Its not our thing and usually the food is not that good. And also the type of clients attracted to this type of holiday, well lets say its just not for us.

I am happy to shout from the roof tops that Nana Beach is super fantastic, the food is great and fresh and you get the chance to dine at one of their a la carte restaurants once a week. The midnight snack bar is fun, cocktails in the bar are great. We were never thirsty or hungry.

We also met some really great people from all over the world, there is something for everyone there and we are sure we will return.

The staff are a credit to this hotel but the hotel itself is well kept the gardens are beautiful.
Next time we go it will be for longer

Room Tip: The garden rooms are beautiful The suites look amazing Room 111 is not so nice

We have just returned from a 2 week holiday at Nana Beach, with our 2 teenage sons (15 & 17), we all had a great time.

We arrived around 2am and thought it was a lovely touch that they had plated up some cold food for us on arrival.

The hotel was immaculately clean and all of the staff were very helpful and friendly. The cleaners work very hard to ensure the pool areas are spotless. There are plenty of sunbeds and 7 pools or the beach to choose from. We mainly went to the main pool with the Dolphin Pool Bar (thank you Katerina on the bar, tough job). I would say this is the most popular, as they play music and do the club dance here. There are signs that you cannot reserve beds but people do. We found if you were down before 8:30-9am you should be able to get a bed. Be warned, the cleaners spray down the beds and umbrellas every couple of days and will remove any towels and place them on the wall. The beach was kept very clean and I really liked that fact that they have a bar and toilets based around every pool. Even the relaxing pool for over 16’s, which was lovely a quiet, had a little purpose built toilet. I expect a room overlooking these would be lovely but you would be quite a way from the main bar and restaurants.

The animation team are great and my boys had a wonderful time taking part in the teenagers (Teenies) club. On our 2nd day they all went into the Stalis, about a 20min walk and played mini golf. Amir that looks after the teenagers is great and loves jumping in the pool and generally messing around with them all after the activities. It was great to see so many teenagers joining in, at times there was probably around 20.

There’s a packed program of activities for adults, including Volleyball, football, Aqua fit and Zumba that you can join if you want, they don’t hassle you though if you don’t want to.
The entertainment in the evening was ok but nothing special, don’t get me wrong the animation team are amazing and work very hard but we have now seen ‘Grease’ every year for the last 3 or 4 years, however I think this is probably more to do with The Animation Company as a whole. It would have been nice if the hotel laid on some other entertainment. We spent most evenings in the Panorama Bar. It gets very busy around 8pm and the queuing system was a little confusing, sometimes one long line, another night people queued in 3 rows! The staff again work very hard and are so friendly, thank you Areti, Ioannis, Alexander. One good thing is they have a separate queue for coffees.
We mainly ate at the Thalasa restaurant as we like to eat Al Fresco. We did go to the Athena restaurant a couple of times but men definitely need to wear trousers, so make sure you take a pair. The food is the same in both of these restaurants, there is a lot of pork dishes and it does get a bit repetitive when you’re there for 2 weeks. We also ate at the Greek and Italian restaurants but the Italian completely outshone the Greek.

As our flight home wasn’t until after midnight we booked and paid for a late room, when we booked the holiday. Around 10pm, the night before our last day, we were informed that we would have to move rooms around 10:30am the following morning as our room had been allocated to a new arrivals. This took me by surprise and was a little frustrating as I have never had to change rooms before when I’ve prepaid for a late room. The receptionist told me that I would have been informed of this on arrival, which I wasn’t, and then went onto basically say it was my fault as I must have been tired or didn’t understand the man when I checked in! It’s a shame because up until this point I couldn’t fault them.

We had a wonderful holiday and loved meeting up and spending time with our ‘Holiday’ friends Dave, Jane & Sam (missed you on our last night) and Caroline, Lee, Charlotte & Emma. Also, got to know other couples Trigger & Elaine and Mark & Claire. Apparently the hotel was fully booked, with around 1500 people, but it didn’t feel like it as there are so many pools/bars and places to eat throughout the day.

Thank you to all the hard working staff that made it such a pleasant stay.

Room Tip: Rooms around 400, 600 & 700 are away from the noise but not too far from the bars and restaurant

Not only an ideal beachfront resort hotel, but also not far from several archaeological sites (Knossos, Malia,...) and museums (Iraklion, Agios Nikolaos,...), which can be reached by car in less than an hour.

Just returned from an 11 night holiday at the Nana Beach Hotel which overall was a very enjoyable experience for two Parents and a 16 year old Teenage male who had a whale of a time !

Many have written about all of the positive things about this huge complex (and we concur) however you will not appreciate all that this site has to offer until you actually get there, see it for yourselves and take it all in (1500 guests at peak times).

Hotel Reception Staff - we found them all to be very helpful (especially the two Maria's )

Accommodation - we had a ground floor Bungalow which was excellent, kept clean & tidy with a change of towels and sheets every day

The Grounds - absolutely stunning with meandering walks and the most beautiful plants, trees and foliage you could imagine

Pools - five in total with the main animation pool being saltwater - again all areas kept spotlessly clean by maids and maintenance staff. All of the other pools are fresh water.

Restaurants - we mainly ate breakfast and dinner in the Alpina main Restaurant (Gentlemen will definitely be refused entry if wearing shorts for dinner). Food was generally plentiful with many choices although at dinner a lot of Pork and Chicken dishes were repetitive.More fish and lamb dishes would be welcome along with a few theme nights maybe ? Staff are excellent especially Ritzsa, Iriadkis, Manolis, Ereni etcetera. We also ate at the Italian and Greek Restaurants with the Italian by far the best option so book early.

Bars - Poseidon is the main bar and gets very busy but service is very good and you get served quickly. Staff here excellent again Yiannis, Alexander, Giorgios, Areti, Artemis, Bogdan all deserve a mention. Pergola is the self serve bar and lunchtime restaurant by the main animation pool - a mention for Tonia where you can get a coffee at around 8am in the morning. There are a couple of other bars which are also okay but not for us.The beach bar where you get Burgers, Hot Dogs, Sandwiches, Slushes and drinks is run by a lady called Constantinou who is continually on the go but always smiling. The swim up bar is run by a Ukranian young lady named Katerina who also does a fantastic job.

Animation team - these guys and girls work their butts off day and night and do a great job all in all. Keep fit, Aqua Fun, Aqua Aerobics- mentions to Vicky (Essex) and Lisza (Belgium). Amir was well liked who spent most of his time working with the Teenagers (big group of 20 English, German, Dutch kids who all got on really well). Night time Shows were hit and miss although choreography and dancing were up to scratch but maybe the miming could do with sharpening up somewhat.

Summary - we had a great holiday and spent time with some lovely people (hi to Sara, Jason, Matt &Ryan, Caroline, Lee, Charlotte& Emma, Mark, Claire & Madison, Trigger & Elaine, Nina, Sydney & Roxanha amongst many others). There was a good mix of nationalities on site and I met and spoke with Germans, Dutch, Italians, Swiss, French, Belgian, Danes and Norwegians. There were also a lot of Russians but they tended to be more insular.

The only downside to ours and others holiday was a British family that arrived one evening and were drunk at the Poseidon Bar, verbally abusive when refused entry to the Alpina restaurant and then a male decided to interrupt an evening show demanding it be conveyed in English and threatened one of the Animation team - fortunately things calmed down thereafter when the Hotel Management took action - thank you.

Recommendations - maybe a Karaoke evening in one of the smaller bars or even a talent show for the kids at night

Would we return - more than likely especially if a few small additional attractions were introduced going forward

Thank you Nan Beach Management and Staff who are a credit to all of you

DaveJane Sam
