Had a wonderful time during my stay at the Hotel Nana Beach. This hotel was enthusiastically recommended to me by my brother and father, who had been 2 years prior to my stay. I'm glad i took their recommendation as my family and i had a wonderful time. The hotel complex does not disappoint. It is large, well laid out and clean. The food is excellent, offering not just traditional Greek foods, but other tastes from around parts of Europe. Good WiFi all around the complex with decent speeds. Rooms are very clean and of a decent size. Two children's club sessions are available during the day, lasting 2 1/2 hours per session. Just enough time for the parents to enjoy other activities. The children's club is run by the excellent international animation team, a group of multilingual, multi-skilled and very energetic youths that seemed to earn the adoration of the children that they minded. This same group of highly motivated youths provide some of the hotels evening entertainment, which my two children enjoyed very much.

What makes this Hotel so good though is the staff. Top marks and hats off to all the staff at Hotel Nana Beach. I would recommend this Hotel based on the staff alone, because they made our stay all the more special. Always on hand, always happy to please and go further than required to make the guests comfortable. We had on many occasions enjoyed the generosity received by the staff.
A personal thank you from my family and i to all the staff at Hotel Nana Beach. Thank you.

Would i go again to Hotel Nana Beach? Yes!

This was our first experience of an all inclusive holiday and overall we enjoyed the stay. Special mention to Vicky and the animation team for the nightly entertainment which was reason itself for returning. Excellent food and the service in the main buffet restaurant (Athina) and quality of the 'Greek corner' is one the highlights, together with Zorbas beer and the local wine! Also enjoyed the Greek yogurt with hazelnuts and local honey! Think the allocation of sunbeds could be better managed. Most people ignored the 'no reservation sign' with some left unoccupied for long periods of the day but covered with a towel. That said there is plenty of places to go for a swim and we did sneak down before breakfast a couple of times to 'deploy' our towels. Perhaps it is an English thing.

Dear Glen,

Thank you very much for coming to Nana Beach and for sharing your experiences with other travellers. We hope you had a safe trip home.

We are delighted to see, how much you enjoyed your well deserved holidays. Your kind words for the whole team are a high motivation to continue giving just the best to our guests. Please allow us to add, that in our hotel we have far more sunbeds than beds in our rooms - so even if we are fully booked, reservation really is not needed. We can just ask our guests to behave in a considerate way and not to reserve sunbeds, which they don't use for hours.

It was a big pleasure to welcome you and we hope to see you again, whenever you come back to Crete!

Just came back from
A 12 day all inclusive from 3rd -14th August 2014 with my husband and two kids and my sister, brother in law and nephew. We stayed in room 673 which was lovely. This has to be my best holiday yet. Will almost definitely return. The grounds are amazing. The pool area is always kept clean. The rooms are a very good size. Staff were very very friendly. The food was first class. Loads to choose from. Thank you Nana Beach for a perfect holiday.

We travelled as a family of 4 comprising 2 adults and 2 children age 5 and 8. We've just come back from 11 nights at Nana Beach and we had a lovely time. Weather was perfect, mid 30s with a fantastic breeze.

The Hotel

This resort is literally like a village. Stunning grounds, very well kept, spotless and it almost feels like you're not in a hotel. There is a main building then lots of smaller buildings which are all connected by small roads and walkways. The gardens are stunning.

Rooms

We stayed in room 517 which was a garden view twin near the front of the hotel away from the entertainment and so it was very quiet but fairly near the main building and restaurant. The room was very clean, air con was good, TV fine and the wifi worked great from our room. The mini fridge was useless though and needs to be looked at.

Pools

There were numerous pools to choose from but we tended to use either the main pool (salt water), the deeper pool near Dionyssos Bar or the veranda pool near Manolis Bar. The one thing I loved about the pools is that they weren't too big so it's very easy to keep an eye on your children. If we were in one of the smaller pools there might only be a handful of people in there at quiet times which was great.

We never had a problem getting sunbeds although we only really needed 2 between us. We wouldn't go to the pool until after 10am and it was still fine although we sometimes had to find one over here, one over there etc so we'd just put them where we wanted them for the day.

Food

There was a huge variety at every meal time. Breakfast consisted of cereals, salads, fruits, yoghurts, honey, pastries, every type of egg, omelettes made to order, fry-ups, breads, pancakes and tons more plus the coffee was decent. At lunch and dinner there was always a choice of lamb, chicken, pork, beef and fish, the Greek salad was lovely and the seafood salad was superb. Mussels, octopus, squid - even snails were on offer one day. The deserts were delicious. I really liked the food for an all inclusive and I would say the Greek food was the best. The food was more seasoned than I'm used to at home though, I never needed to add salt to my meals and some of the dishes did have a lot of oil. My advice - wear your tighter fitting clothes at the beginning of your holiday as you won't fit into them towards the end :).

Be aware that they do enforce the long trousers for men rule which is fair enough so towards the end of the holiday we tended to eat at the restaurant by the sea. Far nicer setting anyway and the same menu as the main restaurant. Also, if you are going out for the day you can book a picnic the day before to take with you.

Drinks

In the restaurants they have fridges where you can help yourself to small bottles of red, white and rose wine. It's ok wine and drinkable but probably not what I would drink at home. I don't know why they put the red wine in the fridge though but it's a thin wine so it sort of works chilled. However, I do prefer red wine at room temp so the lovely barmen in the lobby bar would keep a large bottle of red wine for us at room temperature to take up to our room at 6pm. The cocktails are very nice though and the beer is refreshing and not too strong either. And try the raki!

Animation/Entertainment

This hotel attracts guests from mainly Europe, Russia and the UK, something I don't mind as they tend to have high standards which meant the Animation team comprised of individuals from lots of different countries - Germany, Ukraine, France, Italy, UK etc. They were all lovely and worked very hard. The animation team worked 6 days a week apart from Wednesday and there were shows every night at 9.30pm including some professional acts being brought in a few times a week. The team mime a lot in the shows but that's because they are all from different countries. You get used to it :) Afterwards there would be a disco of sorts at the Dionyssos Bar. The mini disco was at 8pm. My daughter absolutely loved the kids club, especially Charlotte. The kids club ran from 10am-12.30pm and 3pm-5.30pm. I couldn't get her out of there!

Hotel Staff

All were lovely and really made our holiday (I uploaded some pics). Not much more to say.

Beach

I think the beach is man-made as a lot of the coastline around the hotel is rocky. The beach was sandy and is a Blue Flag beach. It's not too big so again, great for keeping an eye on your children. The have a flag system in place to tell you when it's safe to go in the water. We had 2 days where the sea was too rough as I think they have quite strong currents. Amazing to watch the waves crashing though. Pedalos and canoes are free to use.

Outside the hotel

We went to Hersonissos one night for a meal (stunning) and we popped into Stalis. We also went to the waterpark and we booked a boat trip but it had to be cancelled and refunded as the sea was too rough that day :(. We'll do that next time though and we will also hire a car and explore more of Crete if we can pry ourselves away from this hotel!

Overall

This was a fantastic holiday and we truly didn't want to come home. If I could suggest anything to the hotel it would be the following:

1) Free water. We went to a lesser rating hotel last year that had fridges all over the hotel where you could help yourself to chilled, bottled water.

2) Free wifi. To bring Nana Beach up to 5 star status this needs to be added too.

3) Please stop putting red wine in the fridge :)

But seriously, it was great and we can't wait to come back.

Thank you Nana Beach for a lovely holiday!

Dear Kate,

Thank you very much for coming to our "Cretan village" and for sharing your experiences with other travellers. We hope you had a safe trip home.

We are very pleased to see, that you really enjoyed your well deserved holidays and with pleasure we will forward your kind words as an additional motivation to our team.

Thank you also very much for your suggestions. Normally the wine fridges have different zones of temperature. A bit warmer for the red wine and colder for the rosé and white wine. Please be sure that we will check the temperatures again.

As a family friendly hotel, our philosophy is, that families should spend more time together instead of being online too much. Time for family activities is missing so often in normal life. That's the reason, why our WiFi is against charge. We offer following packages:

90 minutes: € 5,-
200 minutes: € 10,-
500 minutes: € 20,-

Don't forget to log out after having used the WiFi, in this way those packages can last for the whole holiday.

Daily packages:
1 day: € 15,-
3 days: € 30,-
7 days: € 50,-
30 days: € 100,-

Alternatively, many cellphone providers offer special international rates.

It was a big pleasure to welcome you and we hope to see you again next year!

Friendly staff, good facilities and decent food. Only criticism is that it's a little understaffed at busy times. €50 per week per device for wifi is very steep. For us it would have cost €160 if we'd taken it up. The buffet restaurants are good and the three a la cartes serve reasonable food in plentiful portions. The staff cannot do too much for you and are very welcoming.Would recommend and would stay in again.

We had a lovely family holiday in mid august we couldnt fault the resort itself.lively entertainment, great food, clean rooms etc...5 pools to choose from although good luck on getting a sun bed all had towels on by 730 am especially the swim up bar pool..the staff were friendly but did favouritise germans a bit too much. Their own beach is very rocky but we got taxi for 8euros to stalis beach and that was gorgeous with plenty sunbeds, local shops and cafes too..overall a lovely week .weather was gorgeous .we booked 2 day trips went in 4x4 ride up the mountains to cave of zeus great day out great guide and food provided was superb..we also booked pirate boat trip for our 6year old and was cancelled day before and only goes once a week so beware on this..a lady told us it gets cancelled more times then it actually goes which is a shame as kids look forward to it...would we return to nana beach...undecided im afraid..like i said cant fault room food or venue or staff

We have just come back from 2 weeks at the Nana Beach which were excellent. The resort itself is quite large, but very well kept, clean and easy to get around. The pool areas are really nice and the hotel having its own beach makes it easy to have a different experience on different days, depending on what you fancy. The food was of a high quality and there was plenty of it. The dishes were very varied and I did not get bored with the menu which can happen on all inclusive holidays. We ate in the 3 a la carte restaurants which were also lovely. We did a couple of the trips - Greek night which is really worth a visit and a good laugh, plenty of wine, dancing, food etc. Also did the trips to Knossos and Imbros Gorge which were enjoyable, although be prepared to be on the coach for around 8 hours as the gorge is quite far away and the Nana beach is the first and then last pick up, which adds about another 90mins onto the journey going and coming. We also did scuba diving, as well as some of the free of charge water sports activities that the hotel lays on - canoeing, pedaloes etc.so there is something for everyone if you want a change of scene from the pool areas. The scuba diving was very enjoyable with both my kids loving it. All in all the holiday was everything you could want from a summer all inclusive break. We would definitely go back and I would recommend this resort for families with kids over 3 or 4 years old, as the animation team were the best I have seen with boundless amounts of energy and enthusiasm – A really excellent hotel.
