“Staff throwing wasted food in to the sea!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 July 2014

Our night as La Scala started wonderfully. We were seated right on the waterfront with small fishing boats around us, the sea omitting a wonderful glow, very nice and expectations were high for the seafood of which many had praised it for.

We enjoyed our starter of mussels and mains of salmon and the seafood pasta. However to our horror as we looked to the couple on our left, the waiter who came to clear their plates tossed their uneaten food in to the sea! Several people looked on in shock as the once lovely water was reduced to bits of bread, steak and uneaten chips bobbing along it's surface. Who in their right mind thinks that this is acceptable behaviour in a restaurant? Not that it makes much of a difference, but in particular a restaurant which boasts of its seafood!!! The couple in question took photos of this and I sincerely hope they brought it to the managers attention for the restaurants sake. Lovely place and I am sure the rest of the staff are far more professional that this man, who we concluded, must have had a bad day.

All in all the food was lovely and location is great... just a shame this one particular waiter ruined the atmopshere and image of this place for several people. Disgusting.

“Excellent place”

This restaurant has the best location in Hersonissos. It is very nicely furnished and you can really enjoy the sea that is next to your table.

“Wonderful food right on the waterfront”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 July 2014

La Scala is one of the more expensive restaurants along the seafront in Hersonissos, but it is well worth the money. All the food was excellent and their local house wines were surprisingly nice. I can heartily recommend the Cretan lamb Kleftiko (meaning stolen lamb) and pretty much any of the starters which were all local specialities.

As with most restaurants in Greece, the food finished with complementary plates of fresh fruit and glasses of (killingly strong) raki.

“Beautiful seafood in a beautiful setting”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 July 2014

This restaurant was a lovely treat when on holiday however was rather pricey. Me and my mum got a the seafood platter which was 50 euros and a bottle of sparkling wine. The seafood platter was amazing to say the least. The sea bream was the best fish I have ever tasted and now that I am back home in the UK I keep craving it!
The restaurant is right on the seafront so the views are beautiful. The service was okay however when the restaurant began to fill up, the waiters could not handle it. We were lucky enough to have already ordered before more people began to arrive however a family on the table next to us waited approximately 2 hours without getting any food so ended up just walking out.
I would definitely recommend this restaurant as the food and setting are both beautiful however to ensure you avoid bad service, arrive a little early!
