“a basic hotel”

i stayed at Evelyn Beach Hotel back in May, the rooms are basic, i stayed in a twin room which had 3 beds, air con, tv & bathroom. the food was not nice at all there was a lot of pasta dishes, and salad and not much else. there is no pool and the one they said we could use was over the car park the water was green there was a lot of weeds. if i was to stay in Hersonissos again i would but at a different hotel. but all the staff are helpful in every way.

I stayed at Evelyn Beach Hotel with two friends. The location is excellent, right across a small road to the beach where you can hire a sunbed for 3 euros a day (parasol 2 euros). If you turned right and walk along the headland you find some beautiful secluded coves.

The hotel does not have a swimming pool but you can use the one next door for 3 euros all day, they are really friendly and do great snacks and drinks.

The room was very basic, the air conditioning was dreadful and very noisy, really not worth it. We stayed all inclusive and the food was more than adequate with plenty of choice from salads to hot main courses and delious desserts. I do however get bored with the buffet option after a while and we ate out a couple of times. The drinks were not watered down at all.

I would definately return!

Have just returned 11th october after spending a week at evelyn beach hotel.
here is my honest review of this hotel.

On arriving were given room 108 on the first floor with a sea view. The room was very clean although basic was adequate for use, as i have a walking difficulty it was also near to the lift.
When we went down to the restaurant on the first night, there was no menu saying what was on , so people had to guess some of the food .
Over the course of the week, the food seemed to go worse, apart from the salads.
The hot food was constantly cold, many people were complaining, but the staff just took no notice.
There was only 1 toaster which did two slices at a time, therefore causing lots of queueing up.
The staff in the restaurant were quite rude sometimes, they wernt interested.
The reception staff were very good, always helpful to put any room problems right.
Location: the hotel is just across from a shingle beach, which you are charged 3 euros for a sun bed.
I dont think i would return to this hotel, but heronisis is lovely, but i would stay at another hotel.
We did ask for the air conditioning but they said they only put it on at 11pm in the evening, even then ours did not work properly, it wa so hot in the bedrom couldnt open balcony door due to mosquitos.
This is not a 4 star hotel, more of a 2 to 3, the food quality very poor.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view room on either lst or second floor.

At the price we found it to be excellent value. Staff very friendly & courteous. I was hospitalized for 12 days just before we were due to fly home. The Management & Staff rallied round to support my wife at a time of great stress & arranged for her to stay in the same room until my return. Plenty of choice for us at meal times and our room was spotless & well serviced. All in all great value for money and a memorable experience. If you go there to have a good holiday that's what will happen. If you go to complain then you really do need help.

Room Tip: Go for height & sea view.

"Warning" If you book through a travel agent and book a SV room, double check with hotel that you have what you actually booked. We booked SV but on arrival was informed we had a GV.
After complaining and admitting their mistake, we were given SV room, but we had to sleep first night in GV room, garden view room was actually overlooking the car park. However we were compensated by being allowed to keep our room on until 18:00 on the last day.
Room was comfortable but bed mattress was hard, not making for a great nights sleep, other facilities in the room were satisfactory.
Food - was boring and repeated after several days, the hotel did not appear to understand how to mix foods together, however the fruit at breakfast was ok.
Staff - Chambermaids and reception were good, however the same could not be said for the restaurant staff, grumpy and on occasion rude to guests when asked a question, the bar staff were indifferent, one day ok, other days just looked bored with their lot.
The all inclusive package was poor value really, ice cream only available at mealtimes and the bar drinks selection was poor (Raki. Ouzo, Greek wIne, local brandy and cheap larger. If you wanted a known brand then it cost you 5 euro's for the pleasure. Also forget about a comfortable ambient area to drink and chat in, you just had the terrace area where you had your meals.
The hotel technically was in a good area but don't be seduced by the fact that it is about 15m from the beach. The beach scene is poor, crowded and not user friendly when entering the water as you have to find a decent channel to enter without standing on rocks underwater, not child friendly either so beware if you are thinking of taking the little ones. They charge 3 euro's per bed and 2 euro's for the umbrella, not justifiable. There are other beaches in the area so look around. The info we were given was that you can use the pool next door for 3 euro's, you can't because the hotel is actually closed, however you can use the pool at a small hotel further along called Neptune were you can use the facilities for free, just by a drink or two.
It was noted that some guest arrived and could stay in the hotel the couple days due to over booking and had to be put up in other hotels in the area (not a good impression).
Would I go back? No, I would have been better off finding a very good B & B and eating out, so would you too.

Room Tip: Choose a sea view 3rd floor.

Hotel was not what we expected. Room was small but tidy and cleaner was good. Jorge the batman and the girls on reception were pleasant. The remainder of staff were grumpy and some made it clear they preferred other nationalities of customers. Beach was a rip off paying for sun beds especially when you have no pool. Food was not good and we spent a fortune eating out. This cannot be called all inclusive. Hotel would be okay for BB, but nothing else.

Room Tip: Bed and breakfast only

We stopped at this hotel on the 11/09/2012 although the rooms were clean and tidy the service wasnt that good the atmosphere wasnt as described all the staff looked miserable. The icecream was only available at mealtimes even for all inclusive guests.Food was the same all the time we read a few reviews before we went and it certainly didnt feel like the family friendly hotel described the atmosphere felt flat. The hotel is in a great location with lots of tourist attractions i.e open air museum we also went to Spinalonga island well worth the money. If you stay in Crete I would advise to stay at another hotel I definately would visit this part of Crete again but not at this hotel.
