“Best accommodation ever in Greece”
Reviewed 17 July 2014

We stayed here, me and my wife for 7 nights. We have premium all inclusive, that means snacks, ice cream, salads and drinks (trademarks), between meals (all kinds for everyone)all excellent quality. The staff and the animation team is very polite and very healpful. The rooms are big, very clean with balcony and air conditioner.Almost every nights they have an show at the theatre of the complex. For those who had rooms up on the hill, is always a car who wait to take you to the top.Ask at the reception. They have a lot of pools to choose from. The complex is between Stalis and Hersonissos. We rent a car from the hotel and we visit the Vai Beach and Knossos Palace. We book a trip (it worth it) to Gramvousa Bay and Balos (the landscape and the water will leave you breathless). I will return for sure at this hotel.

Room Tip: Don't take a room up on the hill.We have number 711 with a great view and very quiet.

Me and my girlfriend stayed here for 7 nights from the end of June in to early July. When arriving to the hotel from a late flight it was nice to have a plate of food, salad and drinks put out for all new holiday makers checking in.

The hotel was really nice and rooms always kept to a high standard of cleanliness by the maids.

The two things that we thought should be changed were that it wasn't easy to get a sunbed due to our European friends getting up very early placing towels out and not returning until the afternoon although there is signs saying you can't reserve Sunbeds. The only other thing I could fault was the no shorts for men at dinner rule. Trousers in a cool environment in a smart restaurant is fine but in 30 degree heat at a Buffett it's not a great idea.

Other than that we both really enjoyed our stay at the Hotel and would recommend it to any holiday makers that want to find a clean friendly place to stay.

Also the taxi journey in to the main town of Hersonissis is 7 euros each way.

Visited 24th June staying 1 week A.I..As stated by all reviewers hotel is very clean ,staff work hard ,however at times it did seem that there were not sufficient staff to meet demand.
Buffet restaurant ,food fine, good selection. Aegean restaurant wonderful although the Italian restaurant disappointing though our mistake was to order pizza, not good.
I do feel that the dress code the hotel insists on is discriminatory: men unable to wear smart shorts for evening meal when female guests had no such restrictions .We had the embarrassing experience where my husband was asked to change prior to being allowed entry to the buffet restaurant ,and on complying observed the staff permitting entry to other gentlemen in shorts. We raised this with the manager on duty who said that they have difficulty enforcing with some nationalities...what!!!!
Bearing in mind the heat and that it is a self service facility to not permit men to enter in shorts to eat is ridiculous. Keep that rule for the Aegean restaurant as this is the only area that warrants a dress code.
I thought we would not be bothered that AI ended at 10.30 however if you choose to either eat late or dine early and go for a walk when you return the A.I bar has ended and drinks, including soft drinks are charged. So we did find it a bit irritating.
Rant over ,enjoyed evening walks into Stalis most nights ,went into Hersonissos only once ,of the two local areas preferred Stalis.
Only went on one excursion to Spinalonga which was very interesting ,we had an excellent guide ,we went with Sparrow Tours.I had just finished reading The Island by Victoria Hislop which I would recommend to anyone intending to visit Spinalonga.
Nearly forgot a particularly nice gesture by the hotel was to have prepared a cold salad for guests arriving late at the beginning of their holiday. Also check in was smooth and well organised by reception staff.

This hotel exceeded all our expectations. The accommodation was marvellous, the complex was made up of individual blocks of rooms and we had the best room possible, with a pool at the front and the back. The whole site was steep but a car was always waiting to take you to the top. The food was amazing and although it was buffet style, there were plenty of waiters around to assist with drinks etc. The rooms were spotless and the entertainment was brilliant. Included in our deal was one evening meal in the restaurant which was absolutely out of this world, and that is said from a group of 4 containing 3 VERY fussy eaters.
The nearest village is about 15 minutes walk and there is a very facinating outdoor museum about 5 minutes walk away.
There is a regular bus service which stops right outside the hotel and a terrific little train ride that take you up into the mountains - a bit expensive but well worth the trip which can be booked with Maria in the car park opposite the hotel.
The only down side to this holiday was travelling with Thomas Cook - never again!

Room Tip: rooms numbered in the 200s were the best

travelled on the 1st of july arriving at 22:00.a few weeks before we left i emailed the hotel to request low level rooms as both myself and my sister inlaw have slight walking difficulties.check in was fast and efficient and they had layed on a cold buffet as the restaurant was finished.a member of staff was waiting after we had eaten to show us to our rooms where our luggage had already been taken.what i requested was exactly what we got lovely rooms overlooking the main pool with views over to stallis.everywhere was very clean the whole week that we were there the pools were probably the cleanest we have had abroad.food was good perhaps a little repetitive.didnt try the al a carte as we were given the days and times when we checked in and we don't like eating after nine at night.drinks were good and plentiful if you use the a.i like we did order two drinks per person per round especially after ten.sunbeds were not a problem if you did as everybody else did towels out by eight.we didn't try the entertainment as it was only for an hour and a distance from the main bar.overall we had a lovely week of relaxing and walking into stallis (nice little town full of bars restaurants and shops).before i forget a big thank you to ioanna the waitress in the lobby bar for the great service and putting up with five very thirsty adult brits.

Room Tip: contact the hotel prior to travelling to request whatever you would like we did and got exactly what...

From the pictures and other reviews this place looked awesome but faults you realise when you get there completely change your mind. Want a sun lounger? Best to set your alarm for half 5 as there isn't a chance you'll get one after 8. Food at the snack bar is poor quality, the buffet is like a cattle market and you'd think that cause it's 25 degrees at night you can wear shorts...oh no, put the trousers on. No where does it warn you of this but if you wear shorts you won't be allowed in and won't get fed..be warned!! Although it is clean and staff are polite, the extra costs on an already expensive 4* wasn't welcomed.
This hotel appears to of been extended and now it has so many guests that is now doesn't have enough facilities and staff for everyone. Value for money is questionable due to these reasons above.

Me and my WIFE (yay) enjoyed every bit of this place and love the people of Crete and the staff of he grand hotel, highly recommend it.

All inclusive was at a fair price considering all you can access with it and the rooms/entertainment are awesome. Thank you Crete!!
