“Wonderful Hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 September 2010

We have recently returned for a weeks holiday all inclusive at this hotel and we had wonderful relaxing holiday. We had a seaview room overlooking our own shared pool and the beach and the kids club was just to the rear exit from the rooms. The pool for the seaview rooms is much less busy than the two main pools and the sunbeds are under a gazebo type shade or under umbrellas if you prefer really worth the extra money. The pools have seawater and are very salty so you may want goggles. These rooms are immaculate inside and you don't hear any noise from the entertainment. The Manzini beach bar is just alongside the pool and it has really helpful and friendly staff.
The food was amazing there are so many choices and it is never repetitive, we also ate at the Fontosa restaurant and the Taverna Artemis which were really special, one trip to each of these restaurants is included in the all inclusive tarrif but book it soon after you arrive to make sure that you get a slot.
The staff at the kids club are lovely and nothing is too much trouble. It is better suited to younger children and maybe needs a bit more for kids aged 9 to 12 as they are too young for the teenage club but a bit too old for some of the activities on offer. My son would have liked some football.
The animation team do a wonderful job looking after the kids at night during the shows especially Matti and Edgar.
I celebrated my birthday on holiday and they delivered a card from all the staff and then presented a birthday cake in the restaurant in the evening, it was really nice touch.

Excellent Hotel, with beautifully designed and maintained gardens/pools/public areas. Very relaxing holiday. On arrival at 8pm in evening we just said WOW!. Very friendly staff, nothing is too much trouble, any problems sorted out immediately. Porter looked after our luggage, whilst we checked in and went for a relaxing dinner in the buffet restaurant. Great way to start our holiday. Fanatastic views wherever you eat/drink in this hotel. Food/drink/ice cream and service with all inclusive deal was excellent. Staff in main pool bar were excellent and very friendly. I enjoyed my daily chats with them. Luggage and us were taken to our room by golf buggy on arrival and departure! We had booked a garden view room and were given a room 50 yds from beach overlooking the sea from the patio as well as a lovely garden view. Room was very comfortable, clean, well decorated, with welcome bottle of wine, water, slippers and ouzo gift. Beds/pillows were very comfortable and camp bed was big enough for my 10 year old daughter. Animation team were the best I have ever come across. My daughter was entertained by them all day and she was allowed to joinein some of the teenage club activities (we did not use Kids club because it is only suitable for younger kids upto 7 years age really. It needs nore shade over the play park as it is in full sun all day!. Their evening shows were OK if you can stand the mimming to songs, however my main complaint owuld be that ttheir comedy sketch content was very offensive in places (racist) and not suitable for children in audience (likes being back in UK in 1960's!)..
Helpful advice that reps do not tell you - you can ask for a hospitality tray (kettle/cups) from reception if not in you room on arrival, Milk/tea bags/coffee are supplied by main bar or restaurant. Extra pillows available and beach towels can be hired (deposit E15 each) from minimart and replaced every day. Suggest you hire a car to sight see as local buses are not very reliable and difficult to follow timetable. Plenty of hire car places just outside of hotel. Forget visiting Hersonissos (local town) it is very uninviting and dirty. Everything you need is in the hotel.

Recently returned from a brilliant family holiday at Aldemar Royal Knossos Village in Crete. Big decision for us, as it was our first all-inclusive 5 star family holiday, yet we were not disappointed. Great birthday celebrations for me, 12 hours a day hot sunshine for her and the kids (15 & 11) got involved with all the activities and made new friends.

The accommodation was fabulous. Big rooms, great air-con and the kids were organised to be in the apartment next door, so we had both freedom and security. The rooms were, clean, cleaned and replenished every day and the surrounding gardens and our outlook onto the main promenade between the beach and the main pool area were colourful and spotless.

Before more high recommendations, a word of caution and its only my opinion. The resort is undoubtedly a 5* family holiday, though unfortunately some of the ignorant and mannerless guests and their families were not. Just stay clear of the sullen-faced, un-smiling and rudely demanding, you’ll know them when you see them! It didn’t detract from our wonderful experience, and I’m sure every resort has a few guests that appear wrapped up in their self-importance.

More good stuff! The food was excellent. We visited the two main a la carte restaurants and had superb service and dining which was very special. The main restaurant for buffet dining was very good too, though busy during mid-august. Don’t worry about comments of repetitive food, as we could have eaten 14 different 3 course meals and there was plenty of ‘themed’ food too. I’ve never seen my kids eat so much and so many different things. Special mention to Aphrodite (waitress) who looked after us whenever we came into the restaurant.

The entertainment (animation team) was brilliant. Very likeable people, all of them, and interested in talking to every guest, every day. Very professionally run and great fun. Special mention to Mattia, Martin, Andrea....well all of them really! Evening music in the main bar was generally of a pretty high standard if a little loud at times for the area and cocktail conversations. Just one comment, the Saturday night duo....from one musician to another (female singer) you need to perk up your range as you’re flatter than the breakfast pancakes – apart from that foot tapping stuff.

This was a wonderful holiday for all four of us. Definitely take the all-inclusive and get involved with the activities. We and the kids met some lovely folk there, guests and staff and would gladly recommend Aldemar Royal Knossos Village to you. We’d love to go there again – bring your friends!

I'm 18 and went with my Mum, Dad and brother who's 15. It was such a good holiday! We were in 2 rooms with the private pool on the ground floor, and the beach was just infront of us. The rooms were really nice, the beds were comfortable, and we got a bottle of wine and a bottle of ouzo to welcome us to the room, which was great as that means i didnt need to go to the shop for some spirits! haha. We also got dressing gowns and slippers which made me and my brother feel right at home. The free bottle of water that was brought to the room every morning was a god send! The air conditioning was fine, had no problem with that except in the main building, i think they should have turned it up a little as us English aren't used to the 40 degree heat inside as well as outside!
The food was amazing, so much choice, i would have three plates every night because it was just so tasty. They had themed nights also, i especially liked the Italian night on the monday because that had all different types of pasta. The desserts were great too. I never made it to breakfast so i can't comment on that.
We went to the two restaurants which were very nice, the staff were lovely and we didn't have to wait for our food for too long.
I went to the main pool every day to join in with the activities, splash dance etc. The slide was great and this brings me on to my next point, the animation team. They were incredible !! So friendly, soo funny. Martin, Nini, Alina, Edgar, Catalin, Roberto.. we all had some really good times.
Martin ran the TAC club, (teenage club) and we all had such a good time doing the activities.
When we first arrived at the hotel there was no sign of any english families, but as the 2 weeks went on a met about 10 other english/scottish teenagers, and we had a really good time.
I never went to any of the entertainment shows but the DJ at the bar was really good, played recent music and had everyone dancing. The drinks were great aswell, very strong. I would reccommend the San Fransisco cocktail... i lived on them for the 2 weeks.
The one thing i wasn't impressed at was that they didnt open the Aquarius nightclub once! I was quite looking forward to that, but we found other things to do at night.
I went to Hersonnissos at night also, for people age 17-20 it's really good, cheap drinks and good bars and clubs, and stays open till the early hours.
The best thing about the holiday was definitely the beach party. It was really good having a dance around the fire and playing the games.
The hotel was really nice, and also had wireless internet access so i could go on Facebook and tell everyone how much of a good time i was having ;)

Overall this holiday was definitely the best so far, the animation team were amazing, the staff were helpful and lovely, the food was incredible and the weather was just perfect. I would love to go back and do it all over again :)

we have just got back from 10 nights on a all inclusive option at the knossos royal.. good points!! the complex was lovly clean and well maintain apart from the odd broken sun umberella , pools were a good size. the animation staff were really freindly and funny they worked really hard all day to make your stay as fun as possible . Mati, martin ,andrea and all the others were great . we watched them every night but other shows ie, the magic were rubbish.. please leave the animation team do the shows please!!. a must is the horse riding in hernossis at night through the mountains its 60 euro each but its best to book it your self, there are yellow posters all over heronissos with the phone number on or look on web sits......... bad points .... food was ok ,but its the first all inclusive that ive been to that didnt do chips!! you had to pay extra at the beach bar if you wonted somthing diffrent at lunch time , and the late night snack bar micowaved the left overs from lunch time which was really odd! the cook did it right in front of you as if this was exceptable. now that not 5 star....... paid full price for our 13 year old (£1300) , yet she had to sleep on a camp bed suitable for small children. not inpressed. most of the drinks were not branded alchol just cheap brans . aldemar in rhodes was mush better but the complex was lovley and would recommend it.

We stayed at the Royal Knossos with my younger son of 22, my mother of 84, my brother, his wife and my neice of 14 and my husband. The hotel catered well for us all with lots of activities to join in if you wanted to or just relax and look at the sea.
The staff are hard working, friendly and very helpful and the young animation team were very enthusiastic and friendly. Andrea, Edgar and Elehni were particularly well motivated and friendly.
There was plenty of good food to choose from both at breakfast and in the evening. It is a very clean and well maintained hotel with lovely grounds and beach. My mother struggled walking around the grounds of the hotel as there was a lot of walking required to get to different places but the hotel very kindly loaned us a wheelchair which we also used when visiting Aghios Nicolas by bus.
Plenty to do for young children who were well catered for as were young people. We really enjoyed watching the youngsters dance at the beach party. The rooms were pleasant and clean and had a view of the sea and gardens.
