My friend and I stayed here at the beginning of June 2014. We had a superior sea view apartment. We arrived at about 9PM and were given a side sea room. They apologised for the mistake and promised us a sea view room the following day. They kept their promise and we were also given the safe key free for the week as an apology. The hotel staff were overall very friendly.
The rooms are spotless and decor is modern. They're also very spacious, including the balcony! The only thing I'd say is that the aircon was in the bedroom, so if you were a family, it could get pretty hot in the living area where the two other people sleep. But we left the aircon on during the day with the door open, it circulated pretty well around the apartment so I guess that could be a solution.
The location was perfect, right opposite the beach (sun beds and umbrellas are 2euros a day which is pretty cheap in my experience) Beach is stoney but not too much of an issue, the sea is very shallow which is good for kids and the guy working on the beach was very sweet and polite, not intrusive at all which was very much appreciated! The hotel is also about 30 seconds walk away from the bottom of the strip which has an abundance of restaurants, bars, clubs and shops. But you can't hear any of the noise from the hotel which meant lovely undisturbed sleeps.
We only ate at the hotel restaurant once. It has a lovely view over the sea and the staff and very friendly but to be honest the food was a bit bland. There are so many better restaurants along the strip. We are two girls aged 25 and 27 who wanted lively nightlife but also a couple of quieter nights with nice food and a few cocktails. Hersonissos was perfect for this. Palm Beach Club was good fun and Shennanigans was a bar that we went to three or four times until the early hours of the morning.
We were told we were the only English people in the hotel and we quickly learnt that Hersonissos is a very European resort (lots of Norweigans, Dutch, Italians, Russians, Spanish etc.). We only met one other English couple in our entire week but this didn't matter at all to us. Everyone speaks English and everyone is really friendly. If anything it was nice to not have that Brits abroad/Malia atmosphere.
We didn't go to the pool once so I can't comment on that but we did see it and it looked pretty small and didn't get the sun all day. Plus it got pretty hot towards the end of the week so the beach was the best place to be to get some of the sea breeze.
All in all we were really happy with this hotel and the resort. I would recommend it!!!
