a unique place of religious worship. Visit it and listen mode and worship the miraculous image of Panagia Evangelistria. Every 15 August don't miss the litany of Panayia image

Had not visited this site since a visit in my early teens with my mother. Was really happy to see that the religious aspect had been faithfully preserved and enhanced

It is just unthinkable to visit Tinos and not go to this church. It doesn’t matter if you are religious or not, or to what doctrine you believe. This is, truly, a unique spiritual place, by far the most famous church in Greece and one of the most famous in the Christian Orthodox world, mainly because of the numerous miracles attributed to the icon of Virgin Mary through the years. Every day dozens of people, mainly women, crawl up the hill on their knees as a “tama”, i.e. a promise, a sacrifice on Her name. It is also a very beautiful building with a breathtaking view of the town.
Mind the fact that has a strict dress code, so no trousers or short skirts for women and only long pants for men.
Tinos, in general, is considered a spiritual island and its beautiful landscape is full of small picturesque chapels.

We are neither religious not much into churches or museums but this was an unmatchable experience. The view to the church from the harbour is delightful Don't be put off by the tack for sale in most of the shops. The walk up the hill is enjoyable and the visit to the icon etc is well worth it even for the likes of us. Sitting in the café at the quayside and watching the faithful crawling up the hill on hands and knees is a real experience.
