The rooms are quite new, simple but comfortable. However the breakfast is at the Svalbar, a bar close to the hotel, so you have to go outside to get your breakfast. The choices for breakfast are small. Not a lot to chose from and no fruit. Expected more for paying almost NOK 2500 per night.

I'll admit that this wasn't our first choice of hotel in Longyearbyen, but I'm happy that we stayed here. Don't be put off by the industrial look of the exterior, it's lovely and warm inside, we had to turn down the thermostat on the radiator. It is very expensive for what is a budget quality hotel, but when you consider the location 78deg North, I suppose that it does explain a lot. There is plenty of free tea and coffee available in the room. Toiletries in the hotel consist of a wall mount soap dispenser, which if you're having a warm soak after being out in the cold all day you can't reach. Thankfully, we'd brought our own.
Boots are taken off at reception, considering the snow and ice on the boots it's understandable, a pair of slippers to walk to the room would be handy, many of the guests left theirs in the boot rack. I just wish that there were proper double beds, not two singles pushed together, which always seem to move apart in the middle of the night.
The hotel is ideally situated on the main street where all the shops are, including the Coop which sells very reasonably priced bottles of wine, duty free. Breakfast is taken in the Svalbar which is located close by, brekfast is ok, the homemade strawberry smoothy was very good.
The airport bus drops you off outside (60NOK single), you will need to carry your bags about 100m to catch the bus back to the airport.

Stayed here for one night before heading out to the wilderness. Clean and quite modern facilities. Simple but you got everything you need. Things are not far apart in Longyearbyen, but this located at the end of the main street with shops and restaurant.

We spent 3 nights in Longyearbyen, Svalbard renting a flat at Svalbard lodge run by Svalbard hotell. The flat was clean, warm, spacey and well equipped - and located right in the centre of the settlement .... ice bear free sone. Totally recommendable.

Nice and new nice hotell to me. More centrally located in relation to shopping boutiques than alternatives. Warm and friendly welcome by a danish speaking front office. Rooms were extreemely nice and quite huge. The bed size was however very tiny with only 75cm. Wifi and breakfast function well despited breakfast in another building with 50m walking disctance.
My new favourite at Svalbard

On the end of the main street of the tiny town - easy walk to the supermarket, post office, shops, restaurants, museums etc.

Great WiFi and good free breakfast buffet diagonally across the street at Svalbar, the restaurant/bar at their sister hotel. The Trappers Hotel is just opposite - they have an awesome restaurant called Kroa.

Front office was super nice and helpful - office hours 7.30am-8pm (not 4pm as a previous reviewer mentioned) which was sufficient for us.

Clean, simple rooms with keyless code entry. Airport bus stops two steps away, although if you're more than 2 people, a taxi is a better deal.
