I had great time for my 3 days in Haugen Pensjonat. Elena and her daughter made this place a very nice and cozy stay for the guests, and they are super nice person to show you the information you needed. Kitchen s super nice and clean and provided all the kitchenware and stuff you needed to make a budget meal for yourself, and I love the idea of separate fridge for every room. Bathroom is shared by 2 rooms and it is also in very good condition. Short walk for around 10 min is needed to the city centre for short person like me, but it also mean that it is closer to the gallery and Huset at the Nybyen area.

Highly recommended!

The rooms were big, spacious, clean and reasonably priced. The toilets were well maintained. The kitchen and living room were homely. Met a lot of fellow travellers. A huge thumbs up to Elena and Daria for this. I wish them well and hopefully will return again someday. Room 7( my room) has a good view.

Room Tip: Room 7 has a good view of the valley.

This is guest house rather than a hotel. We felt so at home and
Elena and here daughter Daria are great hosts. The kitchen is set out so well for everyone to use. There is an individual fridge for each room and some common shelves where travellers leave food they are not taking with them. The rooms are a good size with enough room to have a sitting area and coffee table. Oh yes, did I mention the biscuits? There is always an ample supply left out. It takes less than 10 minutes to walk to the town centre so it is nicely situated. The views were lovely from our second floor room (number 7). We would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Upstairs has great views and is closer to the biscuits in the kitchen.

The room was clean, the shared bathroom even more! You feel like at home.
You've shared kitchen with reserved fridge and so on at the 1st floor.
Coffee, tea, biscuits are for free. You can easily have a fast breakfast here if you fly in during the night!
Good job guys!

Close walk to town centre. Staff were incredibly helpful, I was able to check in earlier which was great. The place is kept immaculately clean, all shared areas are cleaned daily. Kitchen is well-equipped with appliances, biscuits, tea and coffee for the guests.

Room was ample, with good heating, seating and excellent blackout curtains. Shared bathrooms were allocated across rooms so there was no queuing, the separate toilets help with this too.

Very easy to catch the Flybussen to the airport (timed to accommodate the crazy early flight times) from outside the nearby Sptizbergen Hotel (50metres away) for 75Kr - regular timetable posted on wall in the lobby.

Only negligible downside was, while the doors and walls between rooms are well sound-proofed, the floors are not - you could hear loudly moved chairs and heavy-footed travellers on the floors above and in the kitchen. The "no shoes inside" helps but does not stop lead-footed stompers. The noise had mostly gone by 11pm as people respected the house rules set out in the lobby. Ear plugs did the trick!

I highly recommend this place as an easy self-cater option for the independent traveller.
