We were so pleased to hear of a new restaurant opening in Biggleswade that wasn't a Chinese/Indian/Pizza establishment. I checked out their menu online and thought it seemed just what we needed in the Town. So I took the family there to try it out, really hoping it was going to be great and somewhere close for us to eat out. I'm sorry to say that we were all disappointed in our experience and would hesitate to return to try it again.

I realise it's a new venture, but I think they've got quite a lot to learn yet. I'm no Gordon Ramsey, but I have visited a lot of restaurants (good and bad) and have picked up along the way what to expect.

Our waitress was very young and seemed very inexperienced. She was correct and polite and said the right things on arrival and during the meal - but that's where it ended unfortunately (she was obviously working to a script "say this at this time etc"). She had no idea which beers were on offer, one of us asked for a particular beer and she said they had it - came back a few mins later and apologised that she'd got that wrong and they don't have it. She didn't tell us what the soup of the day was and actually didn't know when we asked (oops!). She left us with the menu and came back within (I kid you not) about 2 mins - nowhere near enough time for anyone to make a decision - we felt very rushed. Attentive service is good, but this was uncomfortable.

Anyway, two of us decided to try the steak and one of us went for the chicken burger. I fully admit to being particular about steak and how it's cooked - I figure if you're paying a tidy sum of money for it, then it needs to be cooked properly. Their steaks are NOT cheap. I was praying it'd be good - but it really wasn't that great. I ordered a rib-eye, which when cooked properly (and even I can do this!) should be really juicy and tender. I take my steak medium-rare - when it turned up it was an invention of it's own - charcoal on the outside, rare on the inside and I ended up leaving a good portion of it as it was chewy and inedible. I think it had been cooked on too high a heat - just my humble opinion. If it had been more reasonably priced, I wouldn't have minded, but this was a £19 meal. My partner had a slightly better experience with his steak, but I think mine suffered because of his - he ordered a TBone (medium) and they do take longer. However, at £27.50 - I think it's a rip-off. My son had the chicken burger and as a teenager, knows his burgers. He said it was dry and mediocre.

I know I really should have complained on the night, and normally I'm quite happy to do this as it helps them in the future. But, I felt inhibited to do this at the time and I don't really know why.

This was an expensive, unforgettable meal - but I hope they learn some lessons and get better. I won't be returning until I get some good feedback from my circle of contacts. Sorry.

Thank you for your recent review we appreciate your feedback. Our staff are young individuals with an eagerness to learn, hand picked from Biggleswade, which is just one of the ways we give back to our community. We are very proud of what they have achieved in such a short space of time. With that said there is always room for improvement which is why we hold weekly coaching sessions, aimed at fine tuning our service.
As part of our training we have special visits from our suppliers, we recently had the trade specialist from Miller Brands come and teach our team about our beer offerings, giving the team the knowledge they need to make informed recommendations.

I am sorry that you feel our team rushed you as this would never be our intention. We encourage efficiency and making guests feel special in each of our daily briefings. We have come a long way since our opening week, our chefs are working as a team and as a result of this, preforming above our guests expectation. I hope you will return to our establishment one day in the near future so we can show you how far we have come in a short space of time. Thank you again for your time.
