Had a day trip to Pensthorpe in April to see the difference from a visit in high summer. It was very enjoyable again, but preferred the summer visit with the colour of the millennium garden, which was such a highlight.

There are plenty of walks around the lakes, and plenty of secluded spots to just sit and enjoy the scenery and birds.

There seemed to be lots for children to do with a huge adventure playground, stamp route, and easter event.

There is a very pleasant cafe with reasonably priced food.

Will return again later in the season.

Lovely family day out, kids were given activities to keep them actively busy and adults were able to join in, the play area was a fabulous addition and lunch was delicious and reasonably priced. We will be back!

We have just returned from a lovely day out at Pensthorpe, and all 4 of us have had a great time. The kids (2 and 4) had a ball exploring the trails and getting close to lots of beautiful water birds. There are lovely little touches throughout - information boards, enticing side-trails, a spider-shaped climbing frame by the picnic area - which helped to keep them moving in search of the next discovery.

And then there was the adventure playground - what a facility! Easily one of the best we've encountered, and well thought-out too, with something to do for practically all age ranges, and so much to explore.

The price of admission felt a little steep at first, but that facility was almost worth it by itself, and with everything else, plus the good work being done at the reserve, we ended up happy we got our money's worth.

We are now enthusiastically planning a return trip and looking forward to it.
