The setting is very beautiful. The birds are amazing quite friendly and like being fed by the children. The gardens are wonderful, especially a little later than May.
But the playground is something else. Never seen anything like it. The longest slides I have ever seen on a playground.
You can spend a whole day here

Really nice experience for a family outing focused on nature. Enjoyed walking around the ponds and seeing the literally thousands of unique birds. I am a garden designer and didn't find Piet Ouldolfs gardens here all that inspiring. In addition, I don’t recommend eating in the café- really average, if not poor food. Pack a lunch and have a picnic or stop somewhere before heading in. the park is certainly work the visit though if you are interested in looking at birds or want to take your kids to the adventure playground!

I visited the nature reserve and gardens on 29th May with two young children and I would definitely recommend it to others. Despite the awful weather we all had a lovely day, the park and gardens are really pretty to walk around and Wild Rootz was great for the kids with a wide variety of unique play equipment for different ages. We ate in the cafe for lunch and it had a good selection of food and we all enjoyed our meal. Our favourite part of the day was the discovery tour which was absolutely brilliant, the tour guide (think his name was Darren) was very friendly and informative and made the trip really fun! All staff were very friendly and we would definitely return again, thanks! My only criticism would be that it is quite expensive.

A really good day out amongst the nature created at this former gravel extraction site. The red squirrels were really cute especially the three babies we saw. We also saw Deer in the woods, and a big variety of birds, so a good day for nature lovers. The adventure play area was a real hit with my boys so a day all round! The only down side was that they didn't do a family ticket so entry fee was quite expensive for 5 of us.

Have visited before some time ago, and decided to return. The admission price is a bit high, but would suggest families take a picnic to help the budget. It was a lovely day and there was plenty to keep 2 (young) pensioners happy. The aviary is just so relaxing and entertaining, and great for photographers. The whole reserve is a pleasure to walk round. The birds are very used to lots of people and come very close to you. Great opportunity to see wild fowl from around the world. Hides provided great views and sightings - we are novice bird watchers and happy to see anything we recognise. Met some nice people, all enjoying the day. Thought the new adventure playground looked fabulous and will definitely return with grandchildren, to give us an excuse to use the equipment.
