“Welcoming, warm with some lovely surprises!”

I spent a lovely weekend here with five of my friends, it was just what we needed; well equipped, spotlessly clean, warm as toast and had a real home from home atmosphere. When we arrived there were six glasses and a bottle of wine waiting, also a lovely fresh cream cake in the fridge along with essentials such as tea and coffee etc. The attention to detail was much appreciated. Nicky (owner) made us very welcome and checked that we had all that we needed.
One bedroom had bunk beds (which we had been told about) absolutely fine for us but the bottom bunk didn't have much head room. The other two rooms were very nice with good mattresses and again very warm and cosy.
The swimming pool temperature was just right, no sharp intake of breath when entering, clean and an added bonus to an already great place to stay. The games room is large and would be ideal for older children. All of my party said that they would return at some time with friends or families in the future.
Thank you Nicky for a lovely weekend. We'll be back I'm sure!

“Relaxing break”
Reviewed 2 January 2014 for a stay in December 2013

We stayed at West Barn, a group of 6 (4 adults, 2 children aged 8 and 10) Nicky and Nigel (the owners) had put a lovely cake and Christmas treats for the girls and a bottle of wine for the adults in the barn for our arrival, which we all thought was a lovely generous touch. The barn was clean, warm and cosy. It was extremely well stocked with everything that you could ever need from muffin tins to torches! The on site heated pool and games room are just fantastic and kept us all occupied when the weather wasn't so great.
The location is great, with easy access to the coast and would be a super location for a cycling holiday. We all had a lovely relaxing break and highly recommend West Barn and look forward to returning in the near future.

“What a fabulous place”
Reviewed 4 September 2013 for a stay in August 2013

Where do you want me to start, first and four most I have never had reason to write a review before, whether good or bad. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left,we were treat like we were in a 5 star hotel not a holiday let. Nigel and Nikki could not have done enough for our two young families, with four kids from the age of 2 up to the age of 12. On arrival after our very long drive from the north east of England, we were very surprised to find that Nikki had bought bread, milk, butter, tea, jam, sweets for the kids, a beautiful cream cake and fresh flowers, which we thought was a wonderful touch. The barn which we stayed in was the Granary which was beautiful and immaculately clean. The swimming pool was a very big hit with our kids, we could not get them out of there, again immaculately clean. The area were we stayed was perfect for traveling all over Norfolk and the coastline was just amazing, would definitely recommend wells beach, we all had a great day and there was lots to do for the kids including a boating lake and trampolines. If your looking for a break with your family in Norfolk then you must book this Fantastic retreat. A big thank you to Nigel and Nikki, see you next year.

“Fabulous accomodation. Would recommend to friends and family”
Reviewed 26 August 2013 for a stay in August 2013

Our holiday at West Barn was wonderful. Comfy bedrooms, lovely kitchen and very clean bathrooms which we could not fault. The games room and swimming pool were a big hit with our boys (aged 9 + 12) and as the pool wasn't too deep our 3 year old little girl was very safe in the pool too. Nicky and Nigel had put some lovely goodies in the fridge for our arrival which was a lovely surprise too.

“Wonderful return visit.”
Reviewed 11 August 2013 for a stay in August 2013

Firstly I must disagree with the previous review, the owners took time to describe the barn to us before we booked and when we mentioned the lighting issue they installed extra spotlights the same day. This is our second visit to the barns and again we have left with very happy memories. The owners, Nicky and Nigel are charming and approachable. The barn is lovely and very cosy, the pool and games room were a huge hit with the children again. We would highly recommend this wonderful accommodation for a fantastic Norfolk holiday. We'll be back again next year.

“Good location and facilities. Sleeping arrangements not as described.”

We had stayed at this location last summer in East Barn and were completely happy with it. We deliberately chose this alternative property as it stated it had one double bed and four single beds whereas East Barn had one double, two single beds and bunk beds. However on arriving we found the third bedroom contained a set of bunk beds, which were not appropriate for the members of our party and we ended up in cramped conditions using a blow up bed and a mattress on the floor. We think it is misleading to categorise a set of bunk beds as two single beds. Other minor irritations included the lack of lighting, especially in the living room which resulted in us buying special clip lights. Also it states there is wifi available but we spent the whole holiday trying to connect with no luck! We did not have these problems with the East Barn!

Management Response
2 Aug 2013
I am both surprised and somewhat disappointed with this review,we do our utmost to ensure that all of our guests are happy and satisfied with the accommodation and the facilities here at Cannister Hall Barns, I can only apologize for the statement on the bookings log re: the beds - this will, now it has been brought to my attention be amended immediately - however we are diligent about informing potential guests of the accommodation set up. I spoke to the guests to check that they were happy and the lighting situation was mentioned - my offer to supply additional lamps was turned down, the sleeping arrangements were not brought to my attention so obviously I was unaware and unable to addresses what has now been identified as a problem. Wifi here at it's best is intermittent however we have ordered a further BT line in the hope it will alleviate this problem. I live here, it is my home but unfortunately it appears I was out on the one occasion the guests knocked at my door to speak to me. On departure I chatted at length with the guests and again there was no indication of their dissatisfaction. We will of course take their comments on board and address all the issues raised as we pride ourselves on what we offer here and would not want any future guests to be in any way deterred from booking West Barn - what is and i quote from previous reviews 'a little gem'. Please be assured we want your stay with us to be special from the moment you arrive, we will provide personal and immediate attention to any problems you may experience providing of course they are brought to our attention. Kind regards, Nicky.
