We are delighted you enjoyed your soup so much, Jakub, our chef will love the feedback, thank you.
We both had eggs Arlington. Perfectly cooked poached eggs a generous portion of a very tasty smoked salmon. Could not fault the food or service. The shops have an excellent selection of cheese, wine, meat, breads, sauces, spices, oils and more.
Richard, thank you for taking the time to review BttG favourably, we look forward to you returning.
Wow - just had the Festive Muffin at BTTG - absolutely delicious 10 out of 10 - so tasty a must try. Picked up a last minute hamper too!
We are delighted to hear that your like a festive muffin, Jakub our chef will be delighted with the feedback.
We always stop here when visiting NN and Holt in particular so we’re concerned about some recent poor reviews. Whilst I don’t doubt they are genuine some contained misinformation about change of ownership. Seems like the closure through the summer was for kitchen upgrade and...nothing else. Our visit provided us with perfect breakfast, great service and good coffee at a reasonable price. Highly recommended.More
Graham, thank you for your positive review. We closed briefly in the summer due to needing to change the structure of the cafe. Simpler and focusing on what we do best, Breakfast & Brunch.
Possibly the best cooked breakfast I have ever had! (Yes really) and a fantastic setting in a beautiful converted barn! Excellent farm shop as well.
Thank you for such a lovely positive review, Sausages and black pudding all made by our butchers and the bread made on site here.
Sadly this was the last time we shall visit Back to the Garden. Living locally we have been here many times over the years for both breakfast and lunch and have taken many people there who always lived it too. We were so disappointed in...the summer when it was closed, hardly a good business decision by the new owner. But when we visited after it had reopened we were appalled. There were only two staff on; we had to queue for half an hour; only basics on a blackboard menu; the atmosphere was terrible. How could somewhere that had been thriving have been allowed to be turned into such a terrible place to eat. Having seen that yet again it had been closed we returned in October to give it one last chance. We went for breakfast. Whist the service was good we were so disappointed by the food. Whist the poached eggs were cooked perfectly my partner had to cut the toast for me as it was so hard. His sausage sandwich was in thick white bread the latter of which was tasteless. It is so sad not to be able to go to a place we used to love. How easy it is to ruin what was excellent.More
Such a shame to lose a local customer. The sausages are the same as they have been for many years made by our own Butchers, our bread also is been made on site by a new baker, on feedback about the bread being a bit...More
Lovely brunch and cake menu. Dog friendly. Well stocked farm shop attached with a good deli and butchery section. Great stop on the way back from Cromer
Annie, thank you for your lovely review it is much appreciated
A really beautiful building, that serves the best quality ‘all day breakfast’ I’ve ever had… great service and excellent value. Plus a staggering selection in the adjoining shop: fresh produce, charcuterie, bread and pies, and a great deal more besides.
Thank you for such a lovely review.
We picked this place for lunch en route to kelling Heath as I’d read a new menu would be in operation after a lengthy time. The promised brunch menu wasn’t available at all, just an all day breakfast until 3pm and a couple of other...options. We reluctantly decided on the breakfast. The bacon was over cooked and the sourdough toast so hard that I just couldn’t break it at all. The rest was just ok and on the pricey side. The only saving grace was the excellent coffee. The farm shop was very good but the cafe, although beautifully done, won’t attract us again I’m afraid.More
Thank you for taking the time to review, it is always disappointing if we haven't met our customer expectations, we have taken onboard the feedback with regards the bread and had a word with our on site baker and he will amend the recipe slightly...More
Surly service, to say the least! V unwelcoming attitude serving very boring and limited menu with even more bad grace. Expensive pasties, no salad or chutney. Dry old cake, Victoria Sponge with a mere smear of jam! Don’t go! I’m afraid they don’t deserve your...custom!More
It doesn't appear that we lived up to your expectations, our menu is focused on breakfast an brunch with a simple additional lunch proposition. I can understand why you might be slightly underwhelmed if you were expecting a Sunday menu. There is no excuse for...More
Beautiful building. The food was nice and a decent cup of tea once the dirty cup was changed. Having had a chat with a staff member regarding the cobwebs with dead insects above our table, I recommend a good clean and cobweb throughout. Table service...would be nicer than going to the bar to order, the staff may then not look so bored and interact with the customers a bit more. Will return to see if anything changes.More
Thank you for your feedback, all valid points and will get the points raised looked into. We have moved away from table service for cost and efficiency reasons. Will keep under review.
Delighted to see that they are doing their breakfasts again. Had a business meeting and we both treated ourselves to a full English, you can tell the quality of the produce used. Delicious!
Could have put it better ourselves, we look forward to seeing you again soon.
Although food was not being served, the staff were friendly and helpful and offered us the option of buying food in the deli and eating it in the cafe. Crockery and cutlery were provided and we had a delicious “picnic” in the cafe. From reviews...things have changed. But all I can say is that we enjoyed our visit and everything from the deli was delicious.More
Billbat, thank you for your considered and favourable review. As you rightly state some reviews are disappointed with the interim changes made when compared to the past. Our popular Breakfast and Brunch will be relaunching 4th October, so not long to wait. Once again thank...More
Stopped in here on the way back from a week away. Initial impressions were that it looks nice, but that’s where the fun stops. We were immediately greeted in a mildly hostile manner, advised we are to order at the bar. To me, all this...said was “buy something before you use the facilities”. We looked for somewhere to sit down with our baby to feed her - first table, filthy and dusty. Moved to another, filthy and dusty. Staff totally inattentive. We found the one clean table in the establishment and I went to order at the bar as instructed - would it have been too much trouble for the staff to come and take an order? The body language said it all. We ordered a sausage cob and a salmon bagel. These were served in under three minutes, so the first alarm bell was ringing - these aren’t freshly made! The sausage was drier than the desert - clearly left on a hot plate all morning. Wouldn’t mind but it’s 9.30am and there’s only one other table in here, why was it not freshly made? I’ve had better roadside cobs for a fraction of the cost and taste far nice. Sausage bland, bread stale, no butter. Salmon - bread was freezing cold and dry, had definitely been pre made and left in a fridge overnight. Overall taste wasn’t bad but totally ruined by the bread being ice cold and dry. Apple juice - from a can. Can’t complain. £20 though for two sandwiches and two cans of pop - you expect more. Staff so inattentive. Tables are filthy and they’re just stood chatting. Wanted to visit the farm shop but don’t wish to give this poor establishment any more money - you’ve already had enough charging extortionate rates for sub par food. Absolutely do not recommend. Might be fine for the yummy mummy’s who enjoy overpaying for mediocrity, but this place will sink if they carry on like this. Do not come here. Save your money.More
Alasatair, thank you for your feedback and we are sorry that your experience wasn't as positive as we would would have liked. We are reopening on the 4th October and will be focussing on our breakfast and brunch menus. We have sadly been in an...More
Stopped to use farm shop. Really helpful friendly staff - great butcher - knowledgeable. Traditional sausages & Hog roast sausages gorgeous. We still have more to try! Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend / try cafe and shop again!
Linmar, thank you for your positive review. Our sausages, are extremely popular, are made on site by our butchers using local rare-breed pork, many customers travel miles to get them. We use our sausages bacon and black pudding from our butchers in our full english.
