We visited this collection as hubby is a retired serviceman and is naturally interested in all things military. We both found the collection very interesting , with a wide range of military vehicles/equipment of all sorts including some that hubby used and also some that my late father would have been familiar with. Trucks, tanks, armoured cars, even a motorbike, for a private collection we found it extensive indeed. A good place to visit for anyone with an interest in military vehicles, even better if you can go on a display/rides day. Allow a good 2 - 3 hours to see it properly.

The weather was wonderful and the whole day was a great day out. My 15 yr old and 11 yr old Grandchildren loved all the displays and were really interested in everything. They loved the whole thing and it was topped off by a very good lunch in the on site cafe, what a shame you can't visit the cafe unless you do the tour.

If your a serious military vehicle aficionado this is your place. The collection is superb but these exquisite pieces are shoved and stacked together like a storage warehouse. In addition a large part of their advertising hoopla is about riding in a tank in real life - not that I was interested particularly. But it's made abundantly clear as soon as you get there - there's no tanks running - so don't even ask.

This is a serious collection but loses effect that other museums create by not allowing you to walk around each piece. It's like going to a car show only to find each car is in a garage or under a canopy and you can only see a small slice of it. At Bovington you get a true feel for the size and power of these war machines.

Did however enjoy the massive Centurion tanks along with many vintage WWII pieces and the captured Argentinian hardware from the Falklands was particularly interesting. There is a lot to see here including a huge array of scale models, although it's time to get in there and dust them off.

You'll enjoy being up close to the tanks and guns, while you're reminded by a sign every three feet not to touch or climb on the exhibits. The first three signs convinced me: "Don't touch!" It didn't make me feel welcome.

In one of the most interesting halls there were no lights. Don't know if this was as a result of the bad weather occurring at the time of the visit or if they just weren't bothering to light it up.

My assessment is that they have prioritized collecting over properly displaying this fine collection. Another annoyance would be no access to the cafe unless admission is paid. That's a cheapo attitude given that it's £10 for entry. The gift shop is small and unimaginative given the type of products in this realm that are available today.

Bottom line: If you seriously enjoy military vehicles and hardware then you should go. If you are looking for a high quality museum/historical experience then for £10 you can do better.

A great attraction for all ages. Everything you would expect from a military collection including examples of missiles like Blue Streak. Tank movements are a great feature and reasonably priced for what you can see.

Really enjoyed our visit there a week ago. There are lots of military vehicles on display. The museum is very informative and well laid out. To be enjoyed by all ages. There is even a play area for young children just outside the café. Which served a wide variety of light snacks. Well worth a visit and excellent value at just £10.00
